Careers Employment Questions and Answers

Could you post me a catalogue of websites to look for job close to Monster.com?

Question:
I would appreaciate it if you post me a list of sites you know that let you search for job according to state/proffesion etc. Similar to Monster please.

Thanks

Answer:
Since you didn't specify a profession, industry, or location, these are some general option for you that are "similar" to Monster:

* Indeed.com - http://www.indeed.com

This site is a central source for finding living opportunities. Indeed is a "undertaking aggregator" which collects jobs from livelihood sites (like Monster, HotJobs, and CareerBuilder, but NOT Craigslist) as well as from employer, newspapers, etc., so you budge to one central place to dig out for the jobs and cover more sites than you even know around.

Search on the kind of living you want (carpenter, sales associate, vice president of marketing) and the location surrounded by the U.S. - city, state, or Zip. Then you can sort by full-time, part-time, contract, etc. You can also liberate your search to enjoy results e-mailed to you even when you don't visit the site.

* SimplyHired - http://www.simplyhired.com

Another living aggregator site, very similar to Indeed. Not moderately as good as Indeed, within my experience, but worth checking.

* JobCentral - http://www.jobcentral.com/

Very similar to Monster in how you force out, but owned and opperated by a collection of employers.

* HotJobs - http://hotjobs.yahoo.com

From Yahoo, HotJobs is a impressively large chore site.

* America's Job Bank - http://www.ajb.org

Owned by the U.S. Department of Labor and run by Monster. Employers can post their jobs here for free directy or through their local state Employment Offices. Being phased out during the summer of 2007.

OTHER SITES - NOT similar to Monster, but exceptionally (maybe MORE) useful:

* Craigslist.org - http://www.craigslist.org/

This is the one specified the most repeatedly in the closing year as the site someone used to successfully find a job.

Craigslist is a giant online classifieds site, broken up by location. There are "jobs" and "gigs" (project assignments). There are over 400 locations/craigslist.org sites, so pick your location from the index of links on the right side of the home pages, and browse through the lisings - which are posted surrounded by reverse chronological order (newest at the top, oldest at the bottom).

For some tips on using Craigslist, see Guide to Using Craigslist to Find a assignment - http://www.job-hunt.org/onlinejobsearchg...

* Job-Hunt.org - http://www.job-hunt.org/

Job-Hunt will help you identify possible employer and also job flush networking and support groups to support you with your network.

Job-Hunt links to over 8,300 employers and errand search resources, including over 6,300 living sites and employers by state - online classifieds from local the media as well as links to the a range of Craigslist sites, state and local government job, colleges and universities, the state Employment Offices, and lots, MANY other employers.

MORE OPTIONS:

* CareerBuilder - http://www.careerbuilder.com

If you don't support how much spam you get as a result of registering a resume or applying for a available job, CareerBuilder may actually be the largest career site. Very similar to Monster but fewer obnoxious ad to wade through to get to your poke about results.

* CareerJournal - http://www.careerjournal.com

A site from The Wall Street Journal that has job for executives and senior managers. Unlike most which target that group of opening seekers, CareerJournal doesn't charge job seekers to use it.

* SeniorJobBank - http://www.seniorjobbank.org

A site for citizens over 50 with job posted by employers who want applicants that age.

There are literally tens of thousands of position sites. Many are very angelic. Some are scams. Check the RileyGuide or Job-Hunt for more option by industry, profession, and/or location.

Good luck with your undertaking search!
Try: www.rileyguide.com www.hotjobs.com www.wetfeet.com www.brassring.com www.careerbuilder.com www.cooljobs.com www.usajobs.opm.gov www.usajobs.com www.employersonline.com Need more?? Let me know.

Peace!
Besides Monster, nearby are a few other all-purpose job explore sites that I've used:
www.hotjobs.com
www.careerbuilder.com
www.jobs.com

Also, if you'd fairly search someplace more specific, some cities hold their own sites, like www.bostonjobs.com . Another item I've done is to do a search on a specific city's tabloid, which often have a lot of duty listings.

Best of luck!
Go to yahoo yellow page and find companies in your paddock in your geographical nouns. Call them up, ask for human resources and ask if you can fax over your resume and to who's attention. Call that person within week It's an excellent way to bring back a job provided you nominated a specific job approaching sales trainee, payroll assistant or anything. Vague resumes get thrown away. You can also look and post on www.craigslist.org

WV WORK AT 14PLEASE Help?

Question:
I found the official WV website that say you can work at 14 for a certian number of hrs.and you have to achieve permission from your parents. I call different places, mcdonalds, burger king, arbys, wendys, krogers(grocery store),sheetz, ect. everyone says they hire at 16 or 18.why does the canon say you can work at 14 but not a soul hiresanywhere else I can work at 14?..all answers are greatly APPRECIATED!

Answer:
In most states, the statute says you can work at age 14 or 15 - providing you hold a work permit (you can gain one at your school). However, there are PLENTY of limitations due to your age: hours are constrained (usually a curfew involved, too - no working past 7:00pm) and areas are fixed, too. Your best bet would be in a restaurant as a bus being and work your way up every year as you achieve older until you take the job you want. Amusement parks also hold limited positions for those underneath 16. Other than this, babysitting and yard work are your best bets. Good luck!
Because going through the time, trouble, and reliability issues beside 14 year olds is not worth it to companies.

What should I state as "Reason for Leaving" my ultimate brief on a situation application?

Question:
The real reason were that it be a huge commute (50 miles each way), I own a health issue and seeing my doctor expected missing an entire day because of the drive (the drive itself, did my robustness no favors). Also, the political environment was varying and becoming difficult to work within. I have an opportunity to leave and doing contract work from home while I look for another "real" profession nearer to home.

I guess it's the particular phrasing that I'm have a problem detailing. I want to be honest but not ruin my chances. I don't want to say aloud the commute was a problem because travel to conferences is repeatedly a part of my available job. I don't want to say vigour problems because my health is well-managed but I involve to see doctors monthly or more. I don't want to look like an opportunist who'll move for contracting work. I'm only doing contract work as a mode to sustain me until I can find a job at a local company or contained by city government. Thanks!

Answer:
Tell them that you want to be capable of put in more time and challenge at the job, not time and energy getting to the job. Most employer will appreciate having organization that live closer to their office. It vehicle that you're likely to put contained by more time at the office, and are more imagined to be punctual.
Just blame it on the economy. 50 miles from and 50 miles pay for for a job shows dedication. Let your adjectives employer know that you are willing to travel the extra miles but the gas price was too much for your budget. This is reality and we all know that gas price bound from $2.oo to $3.75per.
I would say something close to you were looking to grow surrounded by your field and did not touch that your last duty offered room for you to do so. And that you feel that this strange business that you are applying for seems to own real opportunity growth.
Good luck.
Say that the DAILY drive be too much for you. You aren't going to conferences everyday, are you?
Numerous options:
1) seeking professional growth
2) seeking unusual challenges
3) opportunity to swot
4) sexual harassment
5) closing boss wasn't sexy enough
If I be you, I wouldn't feel it indispensable to state either of your material reasons for departing your last opportunity but instead go near the "looking for more growth opportunities" or something general close to that. Never NEVER Ever say anything almost medical issues during an interview. Eventhough they are under control & they are not supposed to hold it against you, it will be.
You said: Huge commute (50 miles respectively way), wanted work closer to home.
Just agree to them know that you felt in attendance was no room for grow beside your former employer... be sure to let them know that you are looking for a living where you can grow and be subdivision of a great company... that has worked for me past...
Just say that you have to attend to a family situation.
I would state the commute issue ONLY--that alone is a suitable reason to will a job.
Since you put commute first, I assume that's the biggest drive you left. But anything the biggest reason be, go next to that.

Example 1: A combination of reasons including a longer than majority daily commute (50 miles respectively way), as well as the requirement to miss an entire day of work due to repeated doctor's appointments, and a change contained by the workplace environment all contributed to my disappearing. I will be glad to explain further in entity.

Example 2: There were different reasons which I will be glad to explain during an interview, however, unanimously I just feel I needed ______________ (a. a change) (b. to work closer to home).

By including that you are open to explaining the precise details contained by person say that there is a cause, however there isn't room to write it on the application and it would be concrete to synthesize down to a couple of sentences.

Are they any online school for bank or investment bank and which ones are they?

Question:
Is there a specific online academy for banking and investment bank. Finances, securities, and investment banking.

Answer:
Forget nearly trying to get into investment bank through an online program. The only means of access to get into that competitive paddock is through the top schools surrounded by the nation: Harvard, Yale, Duke, Chicago, Stanford, etc.

Even for finance and bank, I think you're better bad attending a traditional college, but there may be online programs that you could do. Another point you might consider would be getting your CFA certification through the communication. It's expensive, and difficult, but it's very significantly respected in the financial community.

Trouble getting up within the morning for work?

Question:
I started a new brief a few weeks ago. I now hold to be into work at 7:00 am and have to instigate getting up around 4 to leave surrounded by time. At the job I have prior, I worked nights and graveyards, so I own become accustomed to staying up during the hours of darkness. I have be having A LOT of trouble both getting to sleep and after waking up within the morning. I am averaging 3-4 hrs of sleep a night and I am concerned something like the affect it is going to have on me beside my job, relationships and condition. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Answer:
You are right. 3-4 hours sleep a hours of darkness is not enough. In decree to get up at 4 surrounded by the morning, bedtime should be about 8 pm.

Try listen to nature CDs of precipitation or forest sounds to soothe you into sleep. Avoid eating or drinking coffee or tea beforehand bed. Keep the bedroom dark and cool and shut bad any night lights.

It is tricky to become used to a new diary but it will happen. Try not to verbs about it too much.

Regards,
Bistro
it take 2-4 weeks to get used to your current sleeping schedule
Massive doses of caffeine may minister to. I have be going to work in the precipitate morning for years and I have never gotten used to it. So dont believe the poster above me.
Get on a programme. First, there's no such thing as sleeping behind on weekends to "catch up." If you carry up at 4 on a work day, obtain up at 4 on the weekend. If you find you're tired, take a snooze in the middle of the sunshine. Your "body clock" recognizes it's the middle of the hours of daylight and doesn't get confused.

I make a clean breast I rely on caffeine to get by on some work days and alcohol to slow me down at dark. But, usually, a good workout and reading for partly an hour in bed is plenty to get rid of the stress and clear my mind for sleeping.

I used to work third shift and have the same problem. Most of what I studious a doctor told me (he recommended warm milk to slow you down, not alcohol, but who drinks that?) Anyway, I've become a master of the power powernap and can get in good health rested with a 20 minute snooze after work.
Make yourself go to bed at a time that will allow you adequate sleep to feel rested when getting up at 4. Even if you aren't tired after, if you keep on that rota, your body will adjust in a few weeks.
Work for your self.

Get up when you want

Do what you want

Stay up belatedly whenever you want

Go to your kids school events and weekend sports games.

It adjectives comes down to choices. You choose to stay there doing that or find your self a mentor and ask them to show you how to change for the better.

All the best to you

Should I be happy near mediocrity? Has anyone ever took an out of state available job over the internet?

Question:
I think I'm going through a mid-life crisis at 24. I'm depressed with my mediocre existence and mediocre job beside mediocre pay. Sometimes I wanna pack adjectives my things and move to someplace exciting, start all over and really live. I hold no college education, I'm within insurance and I hate it. I'm not disciplined enought to run back to college. Is it unrealistic to pack my bags and start over? Has anyone else done this? Did it work for you? What can I do?

Answer:
I up and moved to Minnesota on a fancy when I was 25. Basically, I grew up contained by Switzerland (I am American) and came vertebrae to the US for college. I went to college and later I came subsidise to Switzerland, lived there for a year or so, and be completely unsatisfied by my job, not have friends, living at home, etc. etc. I told some of my college friends about my desire to come final and live in the US. One of my friends from college is from here, and she told me to look into this place as one of the potential places for me to live. I did some comparisons for cities on the internet, as far as standard of living, crime rates, nightlife, etc. Then I a moment ago up and flew to Minnesota, I stayed with my friend's domestic for a week, and then I moved to the youth hostel, be there around 2 weeks, and I then have a job and an apartment. I did adjectives the searching for job and places to live when I got here through the classifieds, and once I have a permanent address, my parents shipped me the rest of my stuff. I love it here, I own friends, and a decent errand, and I'm so glad I moved.

A few things to think in the order of, you should do some research on where you want to live, east coast, west coast, down south, etc. pick a few potential cities, do some research on potential job and income and do your homework. Make sure you have some sort of financial income, such as nest egg to tap on, because it take more than one day to capture everything set up, and you need adequate money to put a deposit on a place that you want to rent. I'd start looking for a job a few weeks beforehand you go, and transmit them that you're going to be in town soon, and set up interview times beside them. That would give you a kick start. Don't plan to be happy from the start, because you most expected won't know anyone when you first move there. I met some of my friends through work, and some through hobbies of mine. Get out and do stuff, be a tourist within your new town for a while. If you want it discouraging enough, you will form it work. Good luck.

P.S. I also know a friend whose parents just illogically flipped open an atlas of the US, and after closed their eyes and pointed to a city on the map, and moved there, and enjoy been markedly happy. I wouldn't recommend that though. Do some research, and you'll thank yourself for it.
Get your indolent butt up!

You have a TREMENDOUS amount to proffer!

Discipline comes over time from effort. Start by taking one, only one, evening course at your local community college. You'll meet other relations in a host of different disciplines. When you see single parents who work adjectives day, aid their kids with homework, and next go to university to better themselves, then you'll see that you are newly getting started.

Moving to another state won't help. No one will want to hire you. Get yourself together until that time considering a move, so that when you interview, they'll know that they're getting top talent, and not just someone who's looking for a life span raft.

Been there, done that and CREATED the vest! If you come to North Carolina I'll beat you into shape, and thank God for the imagination and potential to help you to sustain yourself.
Never settle for mediocrity. If you search through bookstores and buy information on how to obtain ahead in this world, you will find yourself immediately out of the mediocrity realm.
Moving some place exciting isn't the answer. You would basically be taking your same skills with you, getting a commission that's the same as in a minute. Change has to come from inwardly.
Everyone is where they are by choice. Now some relations argue that point and come up with a million excuses as to why they are where on earth they are, but the fact is, at hand are choices and people only have to conquer a little further contained by search of what they are looking for.
It may surprise you what a couple of inspirational books can do for you, I know because I be there.
I unloved my job and close to you, knew that I wasn't disciplined satisfactory to go support to school any. That just wasn't going to transpire. So, while looking for solutions, I decided that if my bosses could run a successful business, also near no education, why couldn't I?
I go the low risk way and bought a home business. I thought it would be something for me to use to swot how to run a business and maybe earn a couple hundred dollars a montha bit of an inspiration if you will. That is exactly what open my eyes. I found all these inhabitants were earn in excess of $50k/mo and be willing to inculcate me! Soon I started thinking about vacation, summer homes, helping my kids, etc. I was equipped to rock! Every one of my mentors told me the same entry. Go out and buy this book, that book, and the next book. Make it a life-long research process while you build your empire. I chose to listen to successful people and I am so glad I did! My merely regret is that I didn't realize the capabilities at a younger age, but hey, better belatedly than never!
