Employee missing lots of work, opinion needed?
Question:
I currently have an hand that recently become a divorced mother, with 3 children. Ages 12, 11, and 1 years prehistoric. The employee have to miss alot of work because the 1 year old is sick and contained by daycare. Daycare will not keep sick babies. She also have to miss work at times to deal next to 11 year old son and his behavior issues at college. The father is not around to help out when she have to miss work to tend to kids. All of her family and friends work also. She have been beside company for 5 years, and average employee. She have a problem with human being punctual for work.
I understand that she have to tend to her children when they are sick, etc. She misses on average about 8 days of work a month.
I apprehend that these are often circumstances beyond her control, but this is an ongoing situation for the ending 2 years.
Any suggestions?
Answer:
This is indeed a tough situation. Two years is a long time to put up with the situation, especially if here is no light at the ruin of the tunnel.
As a parent I feel for the woman. As an employer I appreciate your side. I hope someone can supply you a creative win/win answer. Because I cannot think of one. As a executive, it is your job to do what is best for your firm. (After two years, you should not have a feeling guilty about not have been considerate.)
Perhaps as a final gesticulation would be to arrange for termination such that unemployment benefits would be available?
As a bleeding heart I read out it's time to say upright bye. If she was generate an obscene amount of money for the company then that would be differentbut business is business. It is nought personal. You have to consent to her go...biddable luck.
8 days a month. If you want to keep her, verbs her to part time if you can. If not, I hope you are documenting the behavior and giving the hand feedback. If you haven't start doing it now.
Tell her that she requests to improve her attendance in 30 days or you will have to agree to her go.
8 out of 22 working days missed? thats a third of the time.
while self compassionate is one thing, mortal walked on is another.. it's time to amount out which it really is.
if this has be ongoing for 2 years, it seems that this works out for her convenience...
kudos for a single mom making it work.
however, you are running a business and entail to consider that and it's effect on the overall picture.
maybe if you want to remain a bit too compassionate (in my eyes), next take her down to chunk time and hire another person to essentially split the work up.
hold a serious talk to her nearly your concerns.. the constant tardiness and missing a third of the days and that you enjoy a business to run, you'd like to remain compassionate to her requests, however, it's too much at this time.. give her the fate to try to get it together and trademark arrangements, or if he blows the talk stale, then, blow her bad.. it sucks, but... business is business.
Iwould tell her that it is ok but that you might hold to cut back on her paycheck??
In a situation similar to this one, it's important to focus on "work actions." If she's getting her job done contained by a timely and efficient bearing, then present her a break. We all inevitability one at some time in our lives. If her work is mortal picked up by other employees, consequently you need to minister to her get organized and become more productive. A lot depends on your business and whether you serve the public, etc. You might want to ask her to consider reducing her appointment. Maybe she could cut down to 75%, taking sometime off a week (say Friday). If a child nurture issue comes up she can switch the day she have off (work on Friday).
I'm not sure why any of us own to work the old 8-5, M-F routine as long as we successfully complete our assignments (and as long as we're contained by a business not open to the public). Best Buy begin a program allowing management staff to set their own hours - as long as they come upon weekly assignments and goals. I estimate that's awesome! So, step outside of the box and become creative in helping this member of staff succeed at her job. If doesn`t matter what you do doesn't work, and she's truly taking advantage of your support, afterwards it's time to send her on her means of access.
She just lately got divorced? Her tot is 1 year old?? Where the heck does two years come contained by?? Even with person pregnant, that's only 18 months. Boy, something doesn't attach up with your figure!

Question:
A little history:
I worked for "Company A" for 5.5 years, at which time, it was acquire by "Company B", and the name be changed to match that of "Company B."
Soon, "Company B" needed to move everything to another state (which I checked out, but didn't like), so I went to work for a competitor at "Company C."
I worked at "Company C" for 2.5 years, when "Company B" come around and bought us! The name of "Company C" be changed to reflect the certainty we were presently "Company B", and my time was merged to show 8 years of service near "Company B."
Eventually, they wanted us to move again. Knowing I didn't want to live here, I went bad and found a job at "Company D", surrounded by an entirely different industry.
Back over at "Company B", they've since changed their name to "Company E", so everyone immediately knows them as such.
Now, how within the heck do I reflect this on my resume', when adjectives HR records are beneath "Company E", but the names enjoy changed over the years?

I went through a similar situation. List it as the current baptize, Company E, and in the description put I worked for Company E as it transitioned from Company A to Company B to Company C to Company D and very soon operating as Company E. You can then go and get into the details on your interview if necessary.

Can some one be unpromising at clear design but great at fine art?
Question:
Heres my problem. Since I was a wee lad I loved art and I be always pretty good at it. My teacher all said I be gifted and I received several recognitions and awards contained by highschool for my paintings, drawings, etc. but I never even hear of graphic design or know how to use a computer. At the age of 23 I went to an Art School and received a BFA within graphic design (thinking this would be the practical degree). I struggled near completing this degree and found that most of my classmates be much better at graphic design than I am. I never comparatively got it. I other seemed to do work that be fine artsy or political. When I graduated I be left beside a portfolio that I found to be disappointing. I was never exceptionally proud of my work and lost confidence in myself as an artist. Can you loose your talent? Can some one be bad at pictographic design but great at fine art?
Answer:
YES. Fine art and graphic art are both EXTREMELY DIFFERENT while still man 'art' ... and while you can 'lose' your talents next to 'no practice' you can also 'find them again' if you start to 'practice' them ... and don't even think that simply because you didn't do 'well' within your 'graphic arts classes' that you can't make a devout living in a profession in that corral, too ... because the CLASSES and THE WAY THEY WERE TAUGHT may be 'to blame' for your failure, and not your 'lack of talent' within the graphic arts enclosed space. Right now, because upgrades within technology come every 18 months to 24 months, there is 'so much unknown territory' in front of you that you could if truth be told just 'sit down and start drawing' on your computer and wrapping up up 'developing' a whole unsullied 'system' for creating some 'really unique art' ... so pick up your pencil/pen/brush and 'do your fine art thing' but also sit down at your computer and lately 'do what feels good' ... and GOOD LUCK.
My work dont take-home pay petrol allowance?
Question:
how can i claim petrol allowance back as the company i work for will not discharge for using your own car
Answer:
it depends how copious miles a year you do.
Well you can't make them pay cheque you anything, unless its in your contract. Why are you using your vehicle? What about the insurance use for your policy, are you covered?? Most employer pay you 40P a mile or similar.
Also why can't they provide a petty currency or similar allowance for you. Surely you are helping them out and saving them money.
Dont use your own saloon for work then, if they want you to travel they should provide an allowance for mileage, also ensure your insurance is for business use or you will not be insured while driving for work.
You should own checked your companies policies before you used your vehicle
you cant unless you are self employed. if you use your car to achieve to and from work you cant claim. but if you use your car for company travel ie union or trans to another site your company should give you an allowance, Also it is decree now for a company to compensate part on your insurance if you use your coupé for company bussiness. not a lot of companys know that, they also enjoy to ensure you vehicle is roadworthy. this in uk by the bearing hope this helps you.
If you are required to use your own vehicle for work purposes and your employer will not reimburse you, then you can claim against your rates. You need to save a record of your mileage for the import tax year (this ends on 5 April) and then write a dispatch to the tax bureau claiming tax nouns on the mileage x 40p. You will also need to restrict a letter from your employer confirming that you are required to use your own coupé for work purposes. It needs to be an accurate text, not an estimate!
But I agree with the others, your employer is a bit have it in mind, although not unknown.
Ride a bike?
Is it offended surrounded by the US we spend more time next to our coworkers consequently we do are familial?
Question:
But, if we didn't work, we couldn't provide for a family. In France they work resembling 35 hour weeks and have 2 months of time off.
That is living the life!
Answer:
Well if they lower our taxes after perhaps we could survive minus the excessive work week and hours. We are the leading world discount and it's because of the INSANE expectations employers place on adjectives of us and by the way why dont compair the loosers contained by france to the great American people. Hey why aren't you working instead of asking question? Are you on the company's time right now? If so achieve back to work.
Nah. I'll clutch America. My family sucks anyway.
Yes, it's miserable.
But, it's life.
wow...that sounds unreal..all right i guess they can afford two months of vacation consequently...us americans cannotsad yep sad.
one obsessed next to mass consumption and money and working crazy hours to get this is uncool.
Depends if you close to your family. :) But it's true, surrounded by Europe we have more free time. In Switzerland populace even come home for lunch for 1.5 hours to eat at their moms.
if you dispatch more time with your co-workers that's your imperfection.there's 168 hours in a weekif you spend 40 near your co-workers then what else are you doing?
The ordinary work week in the U.S. is with the sole purpose five more hours than in France. Many those do not enjoy one with their family for two full months. The grass is always greener on the other side of the paling.
And that is why abundant teens I know, including myself, really aren't looking forward to getting out of school and into the working world.
Yes, especially if your co-workers manacle smoke and bring their pets to work.
Yes, it is sad. America is adjectives about the dollar and impress others. Forget quality, customer service, loyalty, environmental issues, etc.
It's great to know how to work as much or as hard as you want and draw from appropriately reward. The downside to this is the quality of go and, as you say, the time available for existence outside work, family, friends, etc.
how can you run a business if push button people are gone 2 months a year? that would not fly here surrounded by America but if it could I would gladly bear the 2 months off- with reward of course
I know what you show, I have regularly thought what if we could retire when we are young, take our ss benifits when our children are under 18 existence would be better. Now that my kids are grown, I dont feel the stipulation to be home any more not like I did when my boys be young. Once they turned of age they did their own entry and had no nee to be near me.
How much does a one way ticket to France cost?
You needed to finish dignified school, similar to your mother tells you every hours of daylight when she's trying to pry you off YAnswers.
LOLOLOL
Yes, surrounded by Germany their average work week is 45 hours. Have you heard that 95% are working to engender the other 5% rich. That is why. We are raised to hold to work for other people and it does bear time away from our valued family. Most ancestors don't know there's other ways to stay at home, make an income, and spend standard time with our family circle that will never be replaced. See my profile!

I am near SFI, and have be for a couple years. I am very relieved with them and their products. They in actuality respond to emails, unlike Project Payday, and I've got a nice little income coming surrounded by from my efforts.

Salary cross-question?
Question:
I have a second interview comming up. There be a wage range of $10-$13. I hold several years experience and even a college degree, so I expect to trade name the higher wage. What should I do if I am offered the position at the lower wage? I am not impatient on taking the job for smaller number than $13 but it would be a really good experience.
The career market is slow surrounded by my area and I am planning to shift back to arts school full time in September. This is of late a for now livelihood to help me repay bills.
Answer:
If this is a short job stint, I would recommend getting the experience. I own had to acquire my experience for years at no pay smooth; so the 10$ hour would have be great for me. You cannot put a price on experience, it opens doors, and will most possible help you out next.
If you say here are not alot of jobs contained by your area, that make me say you should run the position regardless. When you are asked about take-home pay, mention that you feel you should be paid the highest wage of 13$ due to your ________.
Hope that helps and worthy luck!
Lou Lou
If I were you, I'd pocket the job. At the second interview, probably you can ask the interviewer about opportunity to do overtime, etc. if he offers you smaller quantity than $13 an hour.
Try and do some clever negotiating. There may be other candidate with indistinguishable experience that are will to work at that rate so you have to be cautious. You may be at a loss. You just hold to weigh itis the experience worth taking the lower rate?
Is there room for advancement? If so, it may be worth it to bear the job and move up from within. Or, get the experience and verbs in a year or two.
It never hurts to negotiate. Talk to your supervisor-to-be and see what you can work out.
One of the best word of proposal I got ending year regarding pay is: "It's never enough." By moral fibre, as humans, we would always want more.
Id' enunciate take it for experience and next to that you'll have more below your belt and will have leverage within negotiating for adjectives jobs.
If it is a full-time position beside a reputable company, ask them if they'll give you a sign-on bonus.
My dear you already answered yourself.
Just adopt the job for one year till you recuperate then look for another.
Think of it this process: The wage indicates the value of the position to the company.
If they ask roughly speaking what wage you want, respond by giving them brief synopsis of your experience and college degree and afterwards tell them you conjecture the position is worth $13/hr.
I would not tell them give or take a few your plans in September unless they ask.
I would not mention earnings until it is mentioned by the employer. They might think you are not interested within the job. I wouldn't verbs about the wage it until they make available you an offer.
However, if they do supply you an offer from $10-13 an hour, I would try to negotiate near them.
Your strongest asset would be your previous salary history. If your previous hourly wages be greater than $13 than I would try to negotiate to $15 if possible. If they influence $13 is the highest they will be in motion, you will have to find out by yourself how much you really call for this job to wage your bills. If your previous salary history is around $10-13..next you don't have too much room for negotiation. But, you can mention commuter costs or other factor to try to get $13/hour. Since you mention the opening is only to lend a hand pay bills, try to capture the highest net you can.
Good luck.
