2) Dismiss you - if you are no good at your charge and is off sick greatly then this is the superlative opportunity for them to 'get rid of you'.

Hard working MBA - Why can't I find a position?

Question:
I'm a hard-working MBA near an Ivy-League education, MBA next to multiple concentrations, and 5 years corporate exp.

I quit my last work in Nov after 4 yrs of growing sale and ending up beside record profits and revenue. I be head of a life-size vendor rut for all of that time. And because it be a small company, the last 2 years, I also head our company's accounting and HR functions.

I got sick of the 75-hour workweeks, so I quit and spent 2 months transitioning to the 3 population taking my jobs.

Since later, interviews are rare, I "don't enjoy enough experience" for positions at or above my out-of-date salary, and if I apply below, "They don't presume they could keep me".

I've tried "best of" list of my skills in different functions, and position-specific resumes focusing on one nouns, both have like low success rate at landing interviews.

80% of the online job seem to be recruiters, and they compliment me on my resume format, so I don't imagine that's the problem. What is it?

Answer:
One of the lessons here is don't quit a career before you hold a new one crinkly up. Yes, very knotty to do when you are working 75-hour weeks, but...

Every job hunter is more attractive to a potential employer if they already have a commission. If the job hunter doesn't have a livelihood, then the knocked out assumption is that they're not all that wonderful as an hand. It's one of those laws of spirit or something.

And, you haven't looked for a job within 4 years. Things have changed substantially, online and rotten, as a consequence of the online job marketplace.

KNOW WHAT YOU WANT

The biggest mistake I see job seekers be paid is not knowing what job they want. They infer they're being "flexible" - but they are really merely making it harder on themselves and anyone trying to help them.

If you don't know what you want, you can't update friends and family what you want, and you can't do an impressive "elevator speech" in casing you run into a potential employer. so it's more difficult for everyone who's trying to help you to make out a good opportunity for you when they find one.

NETWORKING WORKS!

Assuming that you know what you want, and given that you've be in your industry/profession at lowest 4 or 5 years, think of adjectives the people you've met and like in that timeframe - colleagues, competitors, clients and customers, former colleagues, former bosses, etc. Contact them! Chances are you'll find them beside G00GLE or using Linkedin.

You're not doing an "information interview." You're just checking surrounded by to catch up on their lives and to see if they know of anyone doing any hiring contained by your field.

Cash within on that MBA and Ivy League education - contact those schools' alumni occupation centers. [Don't worry - they love it, and it will administer them an opportunity to hit you up for a donation in a year or 2.] One of the best reason to get an Ivy League tuition is the network AFTER graduation.

The alumni profession centers should be able to help out you get contained by touch with other former alumni/ae who hold offered to be contacts for fellow alums looking for information about an industry, profession, or specific employer. They should also enjoy good support for you surrounded by terms of facilitate with your resume and other network options. Been to a local alumni/ae club scheduled time lately? GO to the next one!

Also do a G00GLE query on "marketing association" (or whatever caring of association you want) and your city. You'll find local associations where you can connect near other people resembling yourself

Go to the association and alumni club meetings. Volunteer (if possible, be the entity checking people within for the meetings, and you acquire to say hello to everyone next to no pressure!) The first time will be awkward, but it will get better the more you budge and the more people you can force yourself to yak to. Being on a committee is a great way to stumble upon people and to hold a reason to speak beside other members.

EFFECTIVE ONLINE JOB SEARCH RESOURCES

These are the most forceful job sites for a successful online opportunity search:

* Craigslist.org - http://www.craigslist.org/

Craigslist is the charge site specified the most often contained by the last year as the site someone used to successfully find a opening. It beat the other sites (including Monster and CareerBuilder) hand down. Not even close.

Craigslist is a giant online classifieds site, broken up by location. Pick your location from the lists of cities and states surrounded by the right columns of the home pages. For respectively location, employers post "jobs" and "gigs" (which are short-term job, like project assignments, that may tide you over until you receive a real job). Jobs are posted contained by reverse chronological order - most up-to-date at the top. See this Guide to Using Craigslist to Find a Job - http://www.job-hunt.org/onlinejobsearchg...

* Indeed.com - http://www.indeed.com

This site is a central source for finding duty opportunities scheduled. Indeed is a "job aggregator" which collects job from job sites (like Monster, HotJobs, and CareerBuilder, but NOT Craigslist) as powerfully as from employers, reporters, etc., so you go to one important place to search for the job and cover more sites than you even know about. Quick and comprehensive. Very powerful.

With your credentials, you really shouldn't hold a problem, once you focus your search a bit more. We don't usually do a job poke about very commonly, so it's not that easy to do.

Go for it! You will be fine - honest!
I'm 100% sure you've hear this before but 65-75% of citizens land bright jobs via network. Also, "the better the job the more predictable it was found via network." Online sites like monster or hotjobs are subsequent to worthless at actually getting you job. If you're looking for spam, though, you're in the right place.
Based on your experience I'm sure you're surrounded by the market for a very well paying job- as such recruiters/head hunters will be doing their best to find you a match, so I'd read aloud stick with them.
But emphatically focus more attention on "networking" than on online sites.
Education is at an all-time high; lot of ethnic group available for one job; competition is high-ranking for upper level $$$ job. Are you asking too much? Keep in mind that although you own experience and were successful, the trend is to cut the overweight and downsize; a company will hire a less proven soul for $20k smaller quantity a year and bring him/her up speed. Maybe reviewing your asking price and requirements would be helpful. Also, try contacting sources at your ivy league university; career counselor may know how to give you some insight.

How do Truckers stay awake for long hours at a time ?

Question:

Answer:
Coffee, caffine, and cocaine. That or they are genetically predisposed to not need sleep.

Seriously though, one of my friends is a trucker, outstandingly laid back introvert (keeps to himself) that doesn't want much sleep and just busts his butt to provide for his kinfolk. Truckers deserve a lot of respect for what they do.
I don't construe they can which is why there is a define on the number of hours they can drive.
Amphetamines
cocaine
pills, booze, and high verve drinks
they don't
Being an ex-truck driver, I can tell you that some do indeed use drugs to stay awake. Not adjectives of us did. Many drink coffee or caffeine drinks, but are able to stay alert by getting passable sleep when it is possible.
That is why log books were invented. So abundant companies were forcing drivers to work much longer than is possible. Keeping log books help D.O.T. and others see that the drivers were out of commission too long and were competent to drive safely.
There are still those who misuse log books, which I expect is wrong. I would not because violations would budge on my driving record, not the dispatchers or companies account.
I drove with a partner. We took turns driving usually seperated by 12 hours on/12 past its sell-by date.

Should I pocket a counter contribute? Details to follow...?

Question:
I've been at my current company for 5 years, my pay went up merely a little surrounded by those years, and at the moment its a little below average. I am a pretty smart creature (least I think so) so I go into the market and get a couple of jobs above average which I ponder is well deserved. one of the job I landed is a indent above my rank, and the other one is at a prestigious company that pays a huge bonus. also contained by those 5 years, I have not be promoted, despite getting good bonus' and other, always getting dutiful reviews. i've been complaining around this for a while, but I never complained about my income (really shy about that).

to cut this short, i resigned (no final result on which job to take) and my current guys want to hold on to me badly. they are promoting me by the ending of this year, and will give me an increase (probably same as the offer I received, if not above) They inevitability people unsuccessfully, and I would be a huge losss...but I am a bit pissed. Should I take the counter?

Answer:
I might be in motion for the counter offer. Your current employer will promote you and put on a pedestal your pay immediately but it seems close to they have you peg as being shy. They also know a devout thing when they own it and obviously you enjoy proved to be the kind of worker I be (for which I left that job). I did my livelihood extremely well and took pride within having a fitting work ethic. I was making $$ for the company where on earth I was. So when promo time come, the people who within my opinion be not as capable get promoted. What's more, you end up picking up their slack.
If you move about to a new opening they don't know your shy tendancies yet. You can budge in and establish yourself as the compentent worker you are but be for a while more demanding. Keep a book / register just for yourself. Note when you own worked late, come contained by early, weekends, picked up other people's duties, done anything outside your livelihood description (and note and beneficial outcomes). Also hold notes in the order of projects you are involved in, if any customer prefer to speak to you and other successes. Then you can shift in asking for a put on a pedestal and when they ask why you deserve it you can tell them. Stand firm surrounded by the beginning and that will be who you are.
Besides, the bright company may have better benefits and better culture to work with and / or for. Best of luck to you.
