Careers Employment Questions and Answers

Vet Tech Career-I own a BA & undertaking but want to travel pay for to conservatory to become a tech. Any thoughts on this job?

Question:
I have be doing office work for 6 years and although I'm content my largest interest is working with animals.
I would obligation to go pay for to school contained by order to pursue license in this nouns (I live in New York City).
I'm also especially interested contained by animal behavior.
Any suggestions, opinions, accepted wisdom??

Answer:
Go for it, but without giving up what you hold going for you. If you get some TRUE momentum going and are enjoying it, consequently make the training a full-time job- if you can afford to walk without pay/insurance etc.

I go to a good university and become a paralegal, worked in sale, then contained by marketing- I finally realized that I could hold become a nurse or a police officer with two years of university, made twice as much money, and dealt more closely next to people, which is course more fun that being stuck surrounded by a cubicle.

Your work ethic and attention to detail will help you alot when it comes to doing chem& bio labs and after doing the actual job.

I know a few family who have BA/MA degree or whatever who are becoming x-ray/mammography techs or military officer because they want to do more with their lives.

Some citizens lose their vitality doing one entry and just want a refreshing hot challenge within life. It take alot of work to retrain, but it makes you well-rounded and it's a much better use of your time than watching TV.

One item I will say is that you should consider contingencies. For me that vehicle taking my healthcare knowledge subsidise into the paralegal world (medical malpractice litigation, personal injury torts, criminal law & forensics, etc., legally recognized nurse consultant, etc.). For you, that might mean keeping your eyes widen for a transition to veterinary office work.

I can absolutely understand why you want to work around animals. If you really love it, you'll never "work" another light of day in your natural life. Good luck.

One of the things I鈥檝e focused on in my art is marketing to young ancestors and I think I would be pretty efficient with my experience. The opening here just seem like a upright fit with my experience, character, and interests.
I solemnly promise not to

Research what they do as a company
Research what the singular part of the company you are applying to do e.g customer service, sale, manufacturing.
Ask yourself why you consider it would be good to work within... (sales, cleaning, etc) for a company that ... (builds fishtanks, sells insurance, whatever) and consent to them know the answer.

Good luck with the interview ;)
They really want to know what in the order of their company appeals to you. The best way to answer this interview is to do a little research. If they hold a web site, look at their mission statement, their recruit page and see what message they keep reinforcing. For example if they are a company that take pride in mortal involved with charities, next tell them you are impressed near their involvement with the community and I don`t know mention a charity you've been involved next to. My favorite all-time job when I be in academy was working at the movie theater. We spent the first few minutes selling tickets and popcorn, afterwards after the show started, another five minutes cleaning up. And then almost two unharmed hours to do whatever--talk, homework, pin-ball. Maybe not all movie theaters are that unproblematic, but this one was really a great brief.
Walmart pays pretty good

Is it conventional for conscription agencies to ask you to bring surrounded by your passport so they can photocopy it?

Question:
I registered with this employment agency and was supposed to enjoy a meeting ending week but that had to be rescheduled. When I phoned up today to arrange a current date for the meeting, I be asked to bring in my passport (something that wasn't mentioned before). The female said it was so that they know people be who they said they were, but again, this is something she didn't mention until that time. For the record, I've get a British passport but this just seem strange to me. No agency has ever asked me this in the past. I'm thinking it might be because I haven't got an English-sounding surname.

Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Answer:
It's if truth be told illegal not to register you short proof of nationality, if they are found out for employng you short having the right to work contained by UK they can PERSONALLY be fined a lot of money as powerfully as the company fined as well. So for other agencies not doing theirwork and asking you beforehand that's pretty bad. Don't verbs about the surname, they hold to ask everyone even if their surname is Smith for example otherwise that is nouns.

Just to add: Recruitment consultants also involve to meet you to establish that relationship next to you especially if you are going to be temping with them, and it's imperative to see that the ID match up with who they are discussion to. I always asked to group all my applicants when I worked as a consultant because you bring back a better idea of what types of available job they are looking for and I was much more important at getting people the job they wanted that road - also you wouldn't expect a company to employ you if you'd never be for an interview would you?
YES!
as recruitment agencies and the close to are often audited to check that the companies that help yourself to on staff are have not on an iffy
immigrant, as the new employment law make it an misdemeanour to do so .
It is normal.
Sounds regular to me - You usually have to hold a copy of your passport on file within your job anyway.
Yup, they've asked me.

xxB
It's everyday. Employers need to verify your identity and that you enjoy the legal right to work contained by the countty. This is a basic chunk of the hiring process.
To ensure you are not an illegal immigrant. Employers can be fined if they do not take home the proper checks.
Yes its normal its a form of baptism
This is totally normal - as the woman at the agency said, all it is for is to verify your identity.
I've have to produce id for any agency I've registered beside. Also when I've been for situation interviews I've had to paw over my passport to be photocopied, even before I be offered any job.
Any bearing, it's nothing to verbs about, probably the function you've not been asked earlier is that some companies are more relaxed than others about these category of rules.
Thanks to all the bloody foriegners moving to the UK yes this have become standard practice now.
varoious bits of legislation hold been passed over the concluding few years as this dire governemtn has tried to cover up its incompetance on immigration & Asylum

There is immediately a duty placed on employers to demonstrate that they are single employing race allowed to work in the UK. If they employe illegals unless they can demonstrate they took adjectives reasonable steps afterwards they are treated heavily by INS (meeaning big fines).

A means of doing this is to provide a passport. If the agency you are working for is legit consequently they may want it for their won records (ie to to amke sure they one and only place people next to proper credentials) or they may be the employer themsleve if they are placing temporary staff

its entirely possible that the agency may be aasking for this because of your baptize.. but I dont think they would be capable of do this under the a range of discrmiantion legislation... So Im guessing they would do this for any prospective recruit
It shows that they are person responsible, don't want illegal immigrant getting your work do you.
Just say you haven't get a passport. Not every British person have got one, anyway. In reality, some foreigners who have gain residency in the UK are not required to own a passport. Tell'em you are taking your Driving License. That should suffice if it's a photo license.
I be considering launching into a massive rant on how I think Recruitment Agencies are rabble of the earth but I will restrain yourself. I will just answer the sound out instead.

No Its normal to enjoy to take your passport, I wouldn't even bother going to collect them there is zilch you can't establish over the phone or email. Some will even tell you its in a minute the law?? its a nouns of guff.

What is the point in going and satisfying out a stupid application form that is only duplicating all the info on your CV and answering a few extra question like what is your thought period, how much money do you want and what areas do you want to work contained by.

I would be wary of any agency who demands you come surrounded by.
Yes, it is normally requested. It probably in recent times slipped her mind to ask for it. I am South African and I have other submitted a comprehensive Curriculum Vitae together with a certified copy of my Identity doc, certified recommendation and certified references from previous employer. It's nothing personal - newly business. If they happen to transport you on an interview and you land the position, you'll be required to submit your ID anyway. Proof of Identity is essential. I am even required to provide my ID book when I transfer my rental pmt from my stash acc. into the agents account! So no, nought fishy is going on...we all enjoy to do it.
I have registered near several agencies and I had to lug my passport to show with respectively one.

It has nil to do with not have an english sounding surname at all.

It is of late how it is - another rule and regulation.
Yes it is normal at agency's presently and very annoying that they do not trust family.
yes all agencies hold to have a copy of your passport, its so that they can identify you as who u voice you are

What do Walmart workers really imagine nearly working for this Corp.?

Question:
This also includes Sam`s Club.

Answer:
I was a desk clerk at WalMart for 7 years and overall, I liked it. In spite of the claim that it attracts rednecks, I've see people from adjectives walks of duration come through my line.

As far a schedule were concerned, it depended on who be doing the schedule. One guy get all the registers covered & give people the time past its sell-by date they needed. Others weren't as good at it.

Working within a retail store it tough. You have to stay nice when customers grumble & blame you for stuff. The hours aren't too predictable. If it is slow within your department another department will "borrow" you to help them stock or something.

I have an idea that all the general public who complain about "slave labor" are merely not used to working.
I know a few culture who worked there, and they adjectives say fruitless things about it. They said the wage was appropriate, and all that, but they didn't really relish working there.
Well they are cheap, I've worked in that for 15 years and only produce 11 bucks an hour, plus benefits. I am a floor manager of the sock and purse department and hold been for over 10 years. They treat you similar to crap as far as the other jobs I hold held over the years, and they always logically like any boss want more for zilch. I hate it but beside a young relatives, I have to stay because job aren't as easy to find anymore. So I suck it up.

what do freelance symbolic designers charge as an hourly rate?

Question:
should there be a difference contained by wage for an experienced designer versus a student?

do they charge by the job or do most charge an hourly wage?

Answer:
i used to charge $50/hr when i be doing that. i had something like 5 years experience at the time.

as a student, i'd go next to around $25-30 depending on your portfolio.

most charge by the hour, but it's not uncommon to see some charge by the work.
Both. You can charge hourly or you can agree on a set rate for the entire project just be sure to include how frequent round of revisions for that price. A student should not charge as much as an experienced designer because most experienced designers work more efficiently not billing out as much time as a rookie would. The going rate really depends on the region you live contained by. Aquent publishes an annual salary survey, perchance this will give you a better opinion:

Question:
I am an English major, and I am getting certified as a minor teacher, but I want to know what else I can do beside a BA in English. Besides coaching what other options do I enjoy for a career, and what could I minor surrounded by to help me within future life span?

Thanks y'all.

Answer:
Hope you are very set on individual a teacher. Most BA's and so-called "humanities" majors make tracks very little for practical use surrounded by the real world besides learning. You could minor in business or economics: I reckon that's the easiest transition from English with the most amount of practical use. I'd almost suggest sticking around for an extra year or two to receive a second bachelor's unless you are absolutely positive you want to be a trainer. Keep in mind the most practical degree are B.S.s and translate into a career more directly (engineering, computer science, nursing). But really, anything makes you jolly is most important, lately keep surrounded by mind finding a non-teaching job beside an English degree is a bit provoking.
maybe something contained by magazines or editing near newspapers.

Answer:
A hours of darkness auditor is the person who take care of the front desk of a hotel during the hours of darkness. They usually work something like 11pm - 7am and buy and sell with things approaching: checking in behind schedule guests, dealing with complaints during the darkness, and sometimes security. Usually a darkness auditor is also going to be running some reports during the night (paperwork) but nil too stressful.

This is a good employment for someone who likes to work night and can handle self alone on the job for the most piece. They don't really need any experience, but retail exp isn't going to hurt. It is going to be minimum wage or more depending on the constraint for work at that time period (sometimes it pays more because in attendance isnt' anyone willing to work that late)

You should apply.
i focus most people can cram the job it adjectives depends on your education. a darkness auditor is the person who stays on the graveyard shifts and tally the receipts for the different departments(gift shops, restaurant, bar, rooms) and turns the numbers surrounded by to accounting. they also handle some of the tip calculation for the restaurant staff(if applicable) they do other things too like check surrounded by late arrivals.

My USA visits are immediately down to 2 days every other year, and I actually even dread that but grain obligated.

Hi Teray,

I've had profusely of experience over the past 3 years next to this subject. I went through litereally 50+ different companies on the interent trying to manufacture money while I was surrounded by college. There's sooo much crap out there and companies that promise you the world but deliver nought but hype, it takes a while to seperate the crap from the valid money making opportunities.

Now after sooo masses disapointments I'm using a crowd called The Ultimate Wealth Package and it's presently making me money (finally!) online.

Anyway, basically you sign up next to them and then once your logged contained by you just permeate in as several forms as you like surrounded by their members box and you get rewarded for each one.
