I also transitioned from retail and only just to banking. It depends on what you be doing at retail (cashier, stocking etc) versus banking (personal supporter at a local branch, teller or online /telephone/customer service banking). If you be working retail as a cashier afterwards transitioning to personal banking at a local branch should be a breeze because you'll still be working face-to-face next to customers and still be handling money on a daily font.
Unfornately banks do not wage alot for entry level positions if you do not own any banking experience or a bank degree or credentials but the benefits are excellent and there may be a better accident of getting approved for banking products such as auto nouns (or refinance)

You're work may be mundane, but I assume, it helps settle up the bills money for food, clothes etc. If you feel guilty, maybe you should stop or consider changing job in decree to find a job you find rewarding and keep you busy during the day.
