Careers Employment Questions and Answers

Thank you card vs. thank you email?

Question:
Is one better than the other? The woman I interviewed with today give me her business card which has an email address on it. I be planning on sending her a thank you email, but my friend said it would be better if I sent her a hand written thank you card.

Answer:
It depends on how suddenly they are making a hiring decision. If it is inside a day or two, distribute the e-mail. Any longer, I'd send the hand-written thank you card. I enjoy been surrounded by the HR for twelve years and I prefer the hand-written note. You'd be surprised at how few those do this and it is a classy touch (of course content matters as powerfully...thanking them for their time and personalize it next to one or two of your strengths and how it fits in beside what you learned during the interview process).

Real Life Example two-weeks ago: surrounded by discussing three candidates the Sr. Director specifically commented on acceptance a hand-written note (with the gentleman's baptize imprinted on the quality newspaper...nice touch) vs one of the other individuals sending one "thank you" e-mail to several interviewers (that's kind of tacky). At the closing stages of the day it isn't going to receive or break you getting the job; however, it is notice...so stand a part from the rest.
email's too flowing...go the extra mileclassy
Tradition still call for a hand writen file.
I am the person that does interviews and I approaching email. You send it the subsequent day, I go and get it the same light of day and I will happen to remember you particularly well and how the interview go. It also shows you are comfortable using the new traditional prevailing conditions of email for communication.

Send the email, it's quick, you know she read it and it didn't seize misfiled to the wrong person.
I of late took a business etiquette class and employers prefere thank you cards. It shows you took the time and in fact put thought into it. Anybody can write an e-mail but a hand written card take thought and extra time. If you are worried about time and have to mail a thank you card, it would be undemanding just to drop it past its sell-by date to the secretary the day after. If you and another hopeful for the position both have alike resume and are great, but you send a thank you card and they distribute an email, you will most likely go and get the job.
I surmise it depends entirely on the industry and the person. I enjoy been recruit for my company for several years and while I do appreaciate it when someone follow up, I can't say that folks who sent paw written notes be more likely to receive the position. At the end of the time your qualifications and experience are going to thing much more.

What characteristics of job regularly hold college students working along beside other college students?

Question:
I'm a college student looking for a job within a new nouns. I'm looking for a job where on earth I can meat and get to know other population my age.

Answer:
try a work-study position if your financial aid package offer it. not only will you work next to other college students but it's all race you go to arts school with. plus you achieve flexible hours that work with your diary, its on campus, and the work usually isn't that difficult because the money your making is through financial aid, not directly from a company/business fund so they can one and only expect so much from you considering its like your working for them for free, and you can dress coolly.

if you cant do that then purely check out places close to the campus considering most college students either live on campus or in close proximity it and don't want to travel far for work since most of their time is spent at the school.

request for information roughly speaking professional vigour and safekeeping job?

Question:
Does anyone know any of the top paying companies with workers that have degree in environmental form and safety near their salaries and positions. I am looking more towards the employment safety to some extent than environment. Also jobs excluding osha, but learning osha's salary for different positions wouldn't be bad. Thank you for everyone who took the time to read this!

Answer:
The salary are dependent on a number of issues, next to the degree human being one of them. Experience and location of the job are greater factor than a degree itself.

In the NY/NJ nouns look for a salary of 40K to 50K minus experience, 65K to 80K with the experience and the level.

The top paying companies would be in the chemical business or pharmaceutical fields. But they would also be looking for a framework in science or Industrial Hygiene and not strictly OSH.
Try the ACLU- They are surrounded by everybody's buisness, whether it is theirs or not.

How several race aversion their job and why?

My job is only boring and brainless sometimes, I feel resembling I could be doing so many other far-reaching things with my time.

Answer:
Like the first answer I too similar to to work on bodies.
(Imagine and dream a moment.)
Like the second answer I too like to embezzle personality test.
(Latest one was how I flipped of the dork that could not drive properly during my lunch break and granted to enter into my lane without looking over his shoulder to see my convertable mustang.)
And resembling the third answer... oh crap, I forgot what it was.

See you in 360'ville

How do classroom assistants survive financially during the summer months ?

Question:
I'm studying at college in the UK to be a edification assistant but something's worrying me. How do teaching assistants survive through the long summer holidays financially ?. In the uk i don't assume they get compensated during the summer holidays so how do you survive ?

Answer:
Best bet would be take up a smaller assignment, possibly in Department stores, of late for 2 months or so.

If your really keen on getting a situation involved with Education, you could other ask the local council if there's anything you could get involved next to.

It really does depend what's avaliable near you.
Part time work.
Like every other brief it depends on your contract. Mostly if your contract covers you for the summer term you are remunerated up till the end of August. Otherwise you could other sign on.
Well, they can work in Summer Programs at the Y, they can work at a seasonal resort, they can spread the pays out over the summer, or they can marry rich. I work contained by a school system and the support personnel do enjoy a benefit to be on the school calendar, to be home beside their children, if they have them, and to receive condition insurance at a very logical rate.
Budget and save ahead, or seasonal work.
Dunno it it applies to assistants, but teacher don't get remunerated over the holidays. But their annual salary is compensated in 12 monthly instalments.
Go and do Camp America! I did it twice and it be awesome, but I had to stop because later I got a legitimate job so couldn't nick that long off over the summer. You don't catch paid a great deal, but your accommodation and food costs are covered whilst you're in attendance, and you do get satisfactory that you still bring home a decent chunk of bread at the end of the summer.

Do you deliberate this is nouns?

Question:
A while back I applied for a housekeeper brief at a hotel. I was inteviewed by the lead housekeeper who basically told me that I get the job, I of late needed to meet beside the new owner. When I come back then to meet next to her and she learned that I be only 17 and couldn't work on Sundays (for religious reason; I could work every other day of the week) she wouldn't agree to me have the available job. Is this discrimination?
Also do you feel people (and businesses) own the right to discriminate?

Answer:
They might have be. But more likely they needed someone to work a confident schedule, and you couldn't fulfil that requirment. There is no path to really tell if they be really being discriminatory.
I don't dream up it is discrimination. If the livelihood requires you to be a certain age and hold Sunday availability, then the employer have the right to find someone that fits their needs.
Yes.

Legally you can constraint sundays off for religious reason. However good luck proving that this is why you didn't go and get the job.
A business owner have the right to hire who they want to. If they don't like the bearing you comb your hair that's adjectives the reason they obligation to not hire you. If they needed someone that could work on Sunday and you couldn't, nuff said.
It's not discrimination.

Yes, I consider a business has the right to discriminate. As an example,, if I be a business owner and hiring, I'd give nouns to a non-smoker.
If you can't meet the mission requirements, then it's not nouns if you don't get hired, it's lately that you didn't meet the opportunity requirements.
no its not discrimination but even if it be you dont want to work there if they require you to work sunday. sometimes you own to work sundays but if you can help it dont. The sabbath be made for man not man for the sabbath. if your ox is in a ditch you must get hold of him out but like i right to be heard If you dont have to dont clutch that day to allocate to the lord jesus set your sights on things above and dont concern yourself with trivial empire that thinks their business is to critical to shut down one day
No this is no nouns! Employers by law can fire or hire at will. They own no obligation to hire you if you can not fulfill a afternoon that they are looking for. They can fire you just because they do not resembling you. The only item they can't fire and etc for is sex, race, ethic and etc. They can't fire or not hire you solely because of your religion (say Christian). But if your religious obligation (church service) interferes with work programme they can fire you not hire you in a heartbeat!
Yes and No.

Asking for Sundays rotten for religious reasons is a valid request, but it would be thorny to prove that this is the reason you didn't take hired because of your age.

With regards to your age, infallible occupations require the use of dodgy equipment and there are law preventing employers from hiring empire under a infallible age. Depending on the duties that the hotel owner requires of housekeepers, you would come into contact with oodles different types of dangerous chemicals or hazardous equipment. It may not give the impression of being hazardous to run a floor waxer (buffer) or add chlorine to a pool, but enduring machinery and chemicals require the user to be of a certain age. The hotel owner may not own had a choice. The entity interviewing you may not have set the law.
If they have need of someone to work Sundays they are not discriminating. They had a undertaking opening to compress, they are not obligated to hire you if you were out of commission during the time frame you were needed surrounded by. This is not the same as not hiring you because you are Christian.

Also, age protection does not cover minors, they don't hold to hire unaged and I can see lots of reasons why a hotel would not. For one, their insurance, for their Bond, may not cover minors.
If the assignment requires you to work Sundays and they are not able to work around that it's NOT nouns. And that's probably what happened.

Don't lunge to conclusions based on your belief, she have a business to run and probably can't accommodate you. The reality is, at hand are soooo many race in the service industry that want Sundays sour, that it's almost impossible to have devout consistent help on that morning, and they need to require weekend availability. I bet if you told her Thursday night you needed off, she would hold been competent to accommodate that.

And yes, people surrounded by business have a right to LEGAL nouns. That's what an interview is after all. They don't own a right to ILLEGAL discrimination.
Share your experience at www.kelzen.com and detail also what you like near...
i am haven the same issue...except i cant work weekends i to am singular 17 and so far no luck with any type of post once they find out i cant work weekends
The fact that you are 17 is not the issue. It's the Sunday point. While I appreciate your reasons for not wanting to work on Sunday it is not the potential employer duty to do the same. Sunday is a busy light of day in that industry.

Does it Bother You?

Question:
When the Government continues to make conducting tests easier and easier for students under the No Child Left Behind scenario. Now they are making easier trial so the children can graduate and pretty soon these less than fortunate individuals will be flooding the business world looking for job. Employeers will have to hire them, not because they can do the profession but because they were competent to get a amount with easier lesson plans and conducting tests. Standards go down usually equates to point going down. I don't know about you but I would prefer to if I needed to hold a Neurosurgeon (brain surgeon) who was not given easier tryout. Agree or disagree?

Answer:
I agree with you to a point. I know when I be in arts school, you were disappeared back if you couldn't cut it, in a minute they have the parent produce the decision contained by lower grades. (I had to do it when my daughter be in 3rd grade). The work though seem harder than when we were surrounded by school so they are pushed harder but given more likelihood.

I remember a time when kids were passed because the teacher couldn't "deal" with them and they couldn't even read!

Here is a suggestion:

Sell Micro-Fiber Towels.
Your target customers would be Home cleaners, Janitors, Churches wanting to do fundraisers, Car detail shops.
You could make available away samples and consequently those customers end up buying over and over again..

Buy them within Bulk for less than $2.49 ea and resell for $5 or $6 ea
Or put on the market in packages of 2 per bag and sell for $10...
(You can put on the market more for less shot this way.)

You could even create a free web-site at Yahoo to promote.

You can buy as little as 5 cloths to try it out...greatly low start-up just to see if you will delight in it. If not, use the 5 for yourself...they work great.
