(1) You are 28 and never have a job, so you are clearly finishing your PhD. But if you are finishing your PhD, you must be smart ample to see the wisdom of preparing for an interview.
(2) And if you are not finishing your PhD, next maybe you should prepare for the subsequent interview and hope it makes a difference.
So logically I assume that you should be preparing. But frankly either agency, it is a competitive market out near, so do what you think is best and employer will pick and choose.
