I know that you don't dance into this profession "for the money," but while I don't want to be rich I want to be adequately compensated for my teaching and skills and I don't believe I will be.
What do I do now?? If I drop out, I will store loads of money (loans) but won't have anything to show for it. Unfortunately you're right. The human services profession is very underpaid. There are areas where on earth you can make a clothed salary near good benefits, but you really won't make great money. You can produce pretty decent money if you can start and declare a private practice, but that's very concrete.
On the other hand, have a Masters Degree is an excellent job hunting tool, even if you travel into a total irrelevant field. It shows that you be able to bring an advanced degree and frequent corporations love that.
If you quit now, adjectives the time and hard work you've spent so far will step down the drain. I think you should verbs. Then get a opportunity in the pasture when you first graduate. Okay, so you are not bright and breezy with the low income and little respect you are going to get as a social worker? What make you think that you will be getting wearing clothes pay and respect as an OT? I am an RN and I see particularly little in respect and pay envelope in my post and I work with OTs and MSWs that procure very little as powerfully. If you want respect and pay, try a business level. If you want to make a difference contained by someones life regardless of wage or respect than stay with your current plan or amendment to OT. Beware that you will not get more respect or clothed pay whenever you are surrounded by a career dealing beside medicine or the medical community. It is agitation driven versus pay driven.
