Yes go for it, its a great assignment. Hard work and a lot of hours near little social life but it have its rewards. And is a great job especially if you go and get busy pub. You will need to grasp your personal licence first though! Course is a bit of a mare, but once done thats it for 10 years!

Well, since most answer give the impression of being to point at older=better, I'll go against the small piece. My parents had me when they be 18 and 20. It was fun as a kid to hold young parents, they be hip and did cool things, and took me with them everywhere. I have my son at a relatively young age too (27). This have allowed us to enjoy one and the same things musically, artistically, etc. We often savour the same shows on TV.

You child should be part of the people, not the main focus. Raising a child is not easy at any age, it's a huge responsibility. I believe that you should continue until you are older and more established though. You didn't enunciate if your current job be with a private or public conservatory. Sometimes one pays better than the other.
Another alternative you might look at is moving to another state where teacher are paid more. You might also want to move to a state that have tenure. (At least within the public schools I am not sure almost the private.)
You could look into writing/analyzing tests, especially near NCLB. Also, you could go into serious administration or try junior college tuition since you have a master's. If you want to stir a completely new route, try organization work. It may not pay much, but if you can capture into consulting, the big bucks could one day roll within.
I would suggest something like public relations,or historical museums. Try a yahoo opening search to expand the detail. Good luck.
