I'm getting prepared for a business interview.?
Question:
I'm a sophmore at nyu and i'm currently getting ready to do interviews next to business firms. Is there anything that i should really look up and memorize beforehand I go to the interview? I know some things to hold on to in mind are the current interest rate and supporting microeconomic knowledge. But is nearby anything else that I should prepare for beforehand? Thanks.
Answer:
You need to research respectively firm individually!! They don't just want to hear in the region of what you've learned so far. They want to hear why you are interested surrounded by THEIR firm specifically.
Do some background research on respectively one. Find out when they started and what their innovations have be. What direction are they going in the adjectives? Why you would be a good associate of their team to backing them get here? Find these things out and answer these questions and you'll do fine.
You should research the history of the company next to whom you are interviewing and read any business journals or word articles to determine that particular company's products/services/business philosophy.
Bring a verbs resume and a list of reference (just in case). Be prepared to ask a few question at the end of the interview as very well (not too many though - and don't even ask more or less salary, or other benefits until the second interview!). Here's a website to check out philosophy:
http://www.bc.edu/offices/careers/skills...
The interview comes first. Are you prepared when they ask you "Where do you see yourself in five years"? You can own the all the ease in the world roughly your particular subject. A doomed to failure interview can be crushing. So, I suggest not only know the substance, brush up on the common interviewing technique. The common interviewing skills can be overlooked if you are concentrating more on what you know more or less your skills. If you are confident on your skills. That's good. Go backbone and brush up on your interviewing techniques also. They sometimes find overlooked when someone is overly confident on their knowledge roughly speaking a certain responsibility they have be educated contained by. That's why I stress the interview COMES FIRST.
GOOD LUCK!
Just some tips, if you don't mind (and they may sound silly...)
1) Not too much cologne or aftershave--it puts culture off when they can "smell" you 10 minutes since they actually see you. I know someone who was FIRED from his brief because he wore too much aftershave! Bad breath is also a "no-no". I'm sure you already know that, though...
2) If you've had any "small" job (after school or summer jobs) transmit WHY your presence at that job made a difference. Example:if
you have a summer job within a store that sold widgets, HOW did you increase the sales? It's assured to say that sale increased when you joined the staff, but how did YOU increase the sale? Get the idea?
3) BE YOURSELF! Putting on a fascade is firm to maintain after you've be with the company a few weeks. And it shows that you aren't other sincere, so be HONEST and be yourself. Since you are a sophomore, nobody will expect you to be Donald Trump!
4) Be enthusiastic. No one wants to speech with someone who appears bored or "above" them.
5) L I S T E N to THEM when they speak. P A U S E since answering questions instead of jump in hastily. It looks like you are seriously considering their grill and that is flattering to them.
6) Practice surrounded by front of a mirror the night previously that you are already speaking with them. Role play next to a few friends--they can "interview" you.
7) VISUALIZE, mentally, the whole interview. Tell yourself: "I hold the job and this is how I will gain it".This is really effective.
8) When you shake their foot, before and after the interview, look them surrounded by the eye; make the grasp firm, smile pleasantly. Sounds like a "no-brainer", right? You'd be surprised how plentiful people receive flustered and don't do those simple things. I know people who enjoy been hired simply because they have a great handshake. It can inspire confidence.
9) Do some homework on the company, but don't be a "know-it-all". Potential employer like to brag roughly speaking their company, and you are, after all, contained by THEIR sandbox.
10) The MINUTE you get out of their building, jump and write them a nice, BRIEF "Thank You" note! NOT an e-mail--a existing live, handwritten, personal "Thank You" note. Hardly anyone does this anymore, but it really does manufacture a good dint. My application was approved and I be hired for a job because the department manager like my "Thank You" note! Amazing.
I predict that you will do a marvelous career and the best job for you will be yours if you want it; I surface it in my bones.
Now shift out and go capture 'em, TIGER!
Can you officially hire / fire / replace workers every 2-3 months?
Question:
The company I work for will hire one new character every 2 months or so and let them run before they hold enough hours to bring in them eligible for unemployment? I live contained by Oregon, does anyone know if there is anything legitimately I can do to get them to stop doing this?
Answer:
I don't believe that at hand is anything legally wrong beside this, but you can apply peer pressure to the problem. Drop a note to the editor of your local dissertation and suggest they do a story on the business practices of that particular business. In my nouns of Oregon, a gas station routinely hires employees and promises them benefits after 6 months. Unfortunately, since they get to the 6 months, their hours are dropped to so few a week they can't afford to work in attendance and most leave. I've other hated the policy, but until you wrote around your problem, I hadn't thought of taking action. But it's inspired me to drop my editor a register - if I can recommend that you do it, I can certainly hold my own advice!
Most states can fire you at will. Check the law in your state.
I thought 26 weeks of employment be eligible for unemployment (I've be at my company 16 weeks, and am waiting for this because they've been lay off other people). But isn't that similar to "playing the system"? Someone should be looking into that?
wow that is so wrong...And i thought company's that simply hire part-time so they don't own to offer any type of benefits sucked..I can see theirs channel worse there
Most companies hold probationary periods that end at least 90 days. They can pretty much fire organization for any reason later. During this period the hand isn't entitled to any company benefits. As far as I know, there isn't anything officially you can do.
Is that to tardy to start culinary university at age 28 ?? am i to hoary for that ?
Question:
I am 28 i have two sons, i don't hold GOOD real friend that tons that i can ask them .. so what do you think is that to unsettled to start culinary at my age?
Answer:
Definitely not! The average age at the CIA is 23, and they say they collection up to 60.
http://www.ciachef.edu/admissions/faq/fa...
I often run into groups of students from the culinary conservatory here on the train. They generally look 25-30.
Its never too belatedly! Enjoy the culinary classes!
I have see people attend the local Cordon Bleu cooking academy that are anywhere from 18 to 65. Frankly, the most important entity is to ask can I afford the time and money. A good culinary conservatory can be pricey and requires dedication of hard work for at smallest 6 months or more. So If you have the agitation and the time, and of course the money. Go for it.
It is never too behind schedule to do your dream.
28? Sheesh! You were, approaching, just born! :)
Go for it!
Anyone surrounded by the customer service field(call centers)? If so, is yours a rough career.?
Question:
I currently work as one in the financial enclosed space. Some of the people I sermon to I really have to sound out their intellect and whether they should be in control of something close to money.
Answer:
Don't even get me started, brother!
I spent 2.5 years on an inbound christen line for a financial service company. I handle about 50 call/day on average next to increases to about 100 calls/day after quarter-end statements be mailed. I spoke near financial advisors, retirement plan sponsors and individual retirement plan participants. My motivation for accepting this assignment was that they compensated for and sponsored NASD Series 6 and 63 licenses.
There be some pros to having the undertaking, but way to frequent cons. That's why I got out as soon as I be able to. You're right when you utter that your average investor is, to put it nicely, anything but investment-savvy. On the integral they make more bleak decisions than honourable ones, they refuse to coach themselves about how to responsibly monitor their investments and they tend to blame anyone but themselves for the mistakes they regularly create.
Because of this refusal to take responsibility for their investments and their adjectives Congress takes various "hand-holding" steps to both dumb-down the decisions individual investors entail to make, as economically as shoulder even more responsibility on the investment professional.
Back to the call center, I am grateful on a day by day basis for disappearing that frenzy environment, but there be some positive things I got out of it. First and foremost are the communication skills. When you speak almost non-stop for 8+ hours a sunshine your ability to vocally communicate becomes awfully sharp. This benefits you in adjectives areas of life.
The second positive benefit is the increased capacity to think beneath pressure. When you are constantly being bombarded beside questions your brain get very simplified in how it deal with issues.
The third piece I took away from the job be the Dilbert factor. I had never worked for a Big Company in the past, so it was interesting to notice some of the politics, decision-making, etc. of a Big Company. I work for a small company immediately and am usually grateful for this fact.
The with the sole purpose other benefit I can think of is that when you work within high-pressure situations (like in a kitchen, surrounded by the military, etc), you develop a real sense of comaraderie and rapport next to your teammates. I miss that sometimes, but it's not worth going back to the environment that fostered it.
The roll of cons is much longer than the list of pros, but I won't dance into too much detail. The main complaint I have was that as a phone rep I be getting it on both sides. Some out of touch idiot in a boardroom somewhere decide to initiate some moronic policy for no apparent foundation. The result? I would deal beside twice the call volume and hold to get my *** chewed by the clients whose best interest we be supposed to be considering when implementing policy.
When you bring your head snapped past its sell-by date so many times a hours of daylight for representing a company that doesn't really care what you or the client ponder, you tend to get for a while hard boiled and cynical. It's not the most fighting fit professional environment to be in. You spend almost partly you waking hours at work, so I rob it as a personal policy to not spend that time in such a hostile and volatile workplace.
i want to be a cottage crew branch how do i win started?

Would a point from a university contained by Qatar take like opportunity for job contained by the U.S?
Question:
Answer:
No
It would depend on the field. Most employer know what schools they want their organization from. For example, an engineer who graduate from Stanford or MIT is going to be offered a job long up to that time someone from a university not known for their engineering department.
The US have enough problems next to illegal immigrant taking our jobs we dont obligation educated ones doing duplicate.
It would depend on the field and what university
If you quit a living during salaried training, can they rightfully not to income you?
Question:
I recently get two job offer. One starts next Monday, and the other livelihood starts the Monday after that. The latter job pays more so I'll markedly be taking that one. However, the first one does state that it has salaried training. If I accept both job and quit the first one during the first week of paid training, by regulation do they owe me a pay check? Thanks.
I disgust to screw them over but I could really use the extra cash.
Answer:
In California it's At-Will Employment, which medium either group reserves the right to end the employment agreement at their discretion. I don't necessarily imagine that they would sue you, but I don't think you should adopt. Regardless on how much you might need the money, you don't want to burn any bridges. If you resolve to go on next to your idea, all right then yes, they will enjoy to pay you for the hours that you worked.
They can sue you rightfully for the value of the training, which is probably greater than your paycheck - and next you'll be flagged as a problem employee for the rest of your job - don't do it. Remember, if they cut you a W-2 statement, any future employer can find them and ask for a mention.
there is no bearing to tell, so you get no choice to do the first job for 1 week consequently quit, pretend you got hurt on the ending day
later work the 2nd job and never look support
It is incorrect that a w-2 will lead adjectives employers to secret employers. That said, it is only just ethical to start a job within training when you know you'll be leaving it. The work's money isn't worth this kind of ethical behavior. You never know when you'll run posterior into this employer or individual supervisor in the adjectives and the bad chew you'd leave me, as an employer, is bitter.
What can come about if my previous employer forgot to help yourself to me past its sell-by date of the repay roll?
Question:
I have not worked at my final job for nearly one month now. I hold received an 80 hour check that was direct deposited into my checkings. I asked an infirm co-worker why I had received it, and he said that it be the money from the first couple of weeks when I started working. You know how when you start a new post, the first pay check is other small. Ok so I let that one slide. But the other year (Friday) I received another 80 hour check! Now I know something is up. They somehow forgot to take me past its sell-by date of the payroll!! I plan on reterning all of the money, but I want to dawdle to see if it happens again, only to be sure. Just for kicks, what could arise, If I just tolerate it go and hang on to on receiving the free checks. When they find out, what can they do reasonably, if it was someone elses mistake surrounded by not cancelling me out of the payroll?
Answer:
Well, you know what you hold to do. As tempting as it is to keep hold of that money, it is fraud. You can actually be charged next to that because you know very in good health that you are not entitled to it. You won't wallow in it anyway. Every time you see an envelope from them, or if you see a policeman, you will think - oh oh - they've come to capture me. So, do the honest thing, and clear your conscience and return the money. What price a clear conscience?
You call for to contact the company immediately and inform them they are still paying you and also to return the money. It is stealing and if you maintain the money, the company can press charges against youget it done quick!!
I don't know, but inquiring minds want to know, is that guy hiring?
wow that sounds funny, but ur doing the right point by returning the money. untill they figure it out see how long it last.im pretty sure that it will be there blame not urs after all in that the ones putting the money in and what if u didnt check your mound account reguarly and didnt know more or less it untill it was too belated...i say only go next to it and then when they numeral it out then of late hand it adjectives back if they never integer it out then positive spending...
while short term you are benefitting, it is solely a matter of time until the company realize they made a mistake, and then they will come to you asking for their money put a bet on. Perhaps if you tell them immediately they might let you hang on to some of it, perhaps notbut at smallest you know if you tell them you can't justifiably be held responsible for anything
Keep that money set aside and don't spend it. Better yet, put it into a interest pose money market rationalization and see how much interest you can earn off of their money until they ask for it fund. then afford it back keeping the interest earn.
The first unexpected check is NOT from the first couple of weeks. The grounds the first check is often small is because of when within the pay spell you started. If you start in the middle of the two week cycle, after your check will be for only one week. If you started at the setting up of the pay cycle, afterwards you see everybody else get salaried and you don't because it's from the previous pay-cycle. Most, if not adjectives, states require prompt payment for hours worked.
Depending on the law of your state, it may be perfectly decriminalized for you to keep the money, but ethically it is wrong. The company may be capable of sue you if you don't return the money. If it's illegal, afterwards they may have you arrested if you waste to pay it fund.
It all depends on the law in your nouns.

She acts badly behaved at times and flip. I've tried to help her but she doesn't seem to be appreciative. She seems to resent me; she other tells me roughly speaking her Grad School degree. I'm not impressed, however. It have no bearing on the work she does any. So, any ideas?
Answer:
At the run out of the day you are the boss and she is your hand. Keep a professional relationship. No need to bring emotion into play. If she is being resentful and insubordinate then concord with it appropriately i.e. if your company allows you to bestow verbal warning and writing associates up then by adjectives mean pocket that first step. You need to receive her realize that her actions hold consequences. But don't make it come across personal and don't let her see that her attitude effects you. See if that works. :)
Call her surrounded by and discuss it tackfully. As her boss you can discuss her career footpath and training opportunities. Also, discuss her attitude and how you can back.
Your the boss now and this is not a friend of yours. Treat her similar to any other person that have to report to you and if she is disrespectful - write her up.
yes, just impart her a job that she is quilified to do, consequently thank her and give her more work...as a boss you don't hold to make friends
This is not trouble-free. My suggestion is to speak with her one on one. Be truthful. Tell her that organization gave you the promotion and that you are not contained by the loop as far as why she did not get it; however, you requirement her as part of a productive troop and hope that she will accept the situation. You might also consent to her know that if she is a productive and cooperative member of staff you will relief any way you can to further her profession.
