Applying for a living that I'm under-qualified for?

I recently saw an excellent position on a work website. The problem is that I don't have the experience they are looking for.
They are looking for someone who can in recent times walk within and do the job, while I'm someone who have the basic skills, but will call for some supervision and mentoring.
I did some reasearch and have discovered the first name of the hiring manager.
I applied for the living online, but I'm guessing that I'll be screened out by HR as under-qualified
I'm thinking of snail mail the hiring manager a communication in which I give an account him that I'd like to work surrounded by his department, go over my certificate, and tell him that I'd close to to "grow into" the role that is mortal offered and or fill another position surrounded by his department. Here's what I did - I go through an EMT-Basic course and got licensure for it and applied at the fire department and after I get hired, I went through the academy. Call your local fire department regime and ask them what specifics they go by, but I do know that you'll obligation some kind of first responder or EMT training first. Good luck beside that.
My friend is a fireman, and he said you have to ride out lots of physical training. Dragging people, climbing stairs/ladders, holding the fire hose steady (difficult because of the amount of pressure coming through it), and you do adjectives of this wearing your fire gear. The suit and oxygen tank is unwieldy and you are extremely hot the whole time (fire probably doesn't relieve much either). It is hard to find a postion within firefighting due to their status as heroes after 9/11, but if it is what you wanna do later go for it.
The best process to go through fire training is to start beside getting your EMT-B. This is a basic magazine of a paramedic. Basic life support is your brief there. Airway Breathing Circulation. ABC's. The course usually finishing 20 weeks or so depending on where you jump for it. You do learn like mad more then that but to be precise your basic profession. Paramedic is advanced life support. Meaning you use drugs to release a life or minor medical procedures. This usually take about 10 months(it help to get a fire position having this). Note you hold to get an EMTB citations before you can attain a paramedic liscence. So all together to be exact about 14 months. Then you necessitate to go to fire arts school. There are 3 types 36hr (volunteer) 120hr (part time) 240hr (professional) This will get you the fundamentals. Now understand training never ends in that is hazmat school, airport, trench or methodical rescue, swift water, depending on what your department wishes you to do. Now once you get adjectives of these certifications keep contained by mind you have to be physically and mentally fit. This does not guaruntee you a mission. Training Training Training thats all you do. If you dont hold a good moral role dont bother its not like the movies.
