Careers Employment Questions and Answers

HR People - If a company is checking reference, would it be not dangerous to assume you get the profession?

Question:
Or could they be checking references for multiple candidate?

Answer:
Depending on the job and the number of interviews you have. The Company could be assessing the background of the "top three". However, if you've have multiple interviews, and have a biddable feeling around them, relax and wait for the phone to ring - it's your brand new employer.
when we have a bunch of applicants, we check adjectives of the employment references, and greatly rarely do we check personal reference. Also, that doesn't mean you hold the job.
My view: A good HR supervisor is going to check adjectives potential references of every entrant...but my prayers are you got the employment =)
Not necessarily. They usually check for references on various candidates, not a moment ago you. You aren't in the clear until they bestow you that job.
usually it narrow down to 3-5 people, later you check references and situation history etc.. but you are are in the finals. There I don`t know another interview or a job contribute.
No, but it does mean they are interested. I simply check the references of the applicants that I am interested surrounded by.
I work in the HR area and the answer is no. It means that the company is interested within hiring you and that you are a good claimant.

If all checks out ably. You may get the available job. Good luck!
depends on the company...some review apps and then check reference...others review references on adjectives apps. I will tell you the longer the interview, the better you are doing
They usually singular check the references of the top entrant. If they find something they don't like, they'll verbs to the references of their second choice. Still, you don't enjoy the job until the set aside is made... don't start phoning moving companies just even so!
No not safe to assume. It is a formality.
They usually check reference for multiple candidates that are screen one time for interviews and possible hiring. That does not mean you will go and get the position, however.
Nothing is written in stone until you are in truth hired.
dont know about other companys, but where on earth I worked checks were not made unless we are going to hire. It is amazingly expense to check people.
I wouldn't assume anything until they contribute the job to you as they may be checking for multiple candidate.

When I am doing hiring, I will take the top 3 candidate and call their reference. From there, I will determine if I want to bring them surrounded by for another interview (or the top 2) or if I have made up my mind.

Sometimes, reference will be the determining factor on which one I hire. However, the good communication is it means you hold passed the "interview" stage. So you haven't been turned down all the same.

Good luck :)

Is it impossible to adopt a position submit after turn it down when a better one comes along?

Question:

Answer:
Not at all.
The company that hired you already have a back up hire
You enjoy to think of you. And whats best for you.
best of luck
Not great...the honest news is that the biggest hurt would solely occur if you tried to apply at the company you turned down again. Since you didn't truly work there, you never enjoy to put them down as a reference.
no, of late take the better one and make a contribution a good excuse and lots of appreciation to the people that hire you
it is undesirable but it does happen. Just close to the company is interviewing other people, you are looking at closely of employers. If handle with tack and professionalism it's not so discouraging, it happens. They will basically fall put money on and choose the next soul, your runner up.

Explain why in a nice simple phone christen.
nope - you work for a living - you do not work for someones benefit. In the business world - if some more capable and ready to work for less comes along - you would be looking again. The benevolent boss's are far and few to come by.

Is here a canon on the subject of when you stipulation a doctor's excuse for an absenteeism?

Question:
is there an actual federal canon that states that after missing three or more days of work you need a doctor's excuse to return to work?

Answer:
No. There is not a directive that requires a doctor note after missing work EXCEPT when the hand is returning from a Family Medical Leave Act leave involving his/her medical condition or returning from Disability take off. Also, workers compensation laws require medical documents. In those cases, you may be required to provide medical information. But, that medical information should be kept contained by a file separate from the rest of your employment information and should not influence the treatment you receive at work.

However, most employer require medical documentation so that they know that your absence from work be due to a legitimate medical condition. Employers want to know what to expect from your medical condition. You hold to effectively communicate with your employer if you stipulation accommodations because of your medical condition and may be required to prove that you entail those accommodations near documentation from a medical professional. In order to protect your commission it is important for you to comply next to fair company policies and to effectively communicate your competency to work or limitations. If the company's policies are discriminatory against you or unfair, you may enjoy legal recourse.

If your employer have more than 15 employees and you believe your employer is treating you differently because of your disability or medical condition that requires you to embezzle time off of work you must communicate near your employer (1) that you need okay accommodations, (2) what those accommodation are and then if they verbs to treat you adversely or fail to accommodate you, after you can contact your State human rights commission or the EEOC.

If you have more question about your employment rights you can consult next to an attorney or call your state's Division of Labor and Industrial Relations (DOLIR). If you obligation an attorney referal you can contact your city or state Bar Association.
Nope.

However, some employers own HR standards that call for documentation to substantiate hand claims of illness.
Ask our Human Resources Department or look contained by the Employee Manual.
Hi. No, it is usually a company policy.
I would get a doctor's entry saying that I am too sick to come within and see the doctor! I cannot find the federal law.
no. its adjectives up to the company as to whether you need a doctor's excuse or not. next to many companies it does not situation whether you have one or not they can still fire you for poor attendance.
No. But some school and/or work facilities/places do require notes such as that to return.
Anyone be absence from work for more than three days will want to justify the unreality to the employer. This is basic employment regulation. One does not need medical chit from a doctor unless unsurprisingly when one is really sick. However, if one was sick, I don't see why dally until the third day to consult a doctor. There could be other valid reason such a a family branch is sick and you need to stay home to steal care of this character, etc..
If you aren't working for the feds or on a federally funded contract, then the answer is no.

How do I update my boss?

Question:
That my co-workers aint doing their work and worse still, their outstanding job gain passed on to me.

Answer:
Request a private meeting and explain your concerns; own documentation of evidence and show that you are a team player. And be prepared to risk the wrath of your co-workers but it's still better than taking the blame for their incompetence.
You own to be sort of coy about it. Work on your stuff just. And if you are handed someone else's duties enunciate "oh that project belongs to John, you can forward that to him".

Do not bail someone else out if they are just milking the system. If it is the boss who is hand it to you say "Did you want me to show John how to do this, is he have trouble with it?"

You'll be getting your point across subtly and not look approaching a trouble maker.
transport an anonymous email
You could always put on your most innocent look, and ask your boss which of the tasks (yours or your coworker's that's getting passed on to you) he desires you to focus on, that you don't have the time to do a honest job of both, and Johnnie doesn't own time to do the xxxxx job.
agree to me guessthis kind of situationyou must be any in sale or human relationship job.

anyway, it's time to ask for a tilt!! Yipee!

How might i progress in the region of getting a work at the United Nations (UN) when i am elder & also what subjects do i necessitate?

Question:
I'm in soaring school. What subjects do i inevitability to get a career at the UN, and do i need a university point and if so what university subjects do i need? And where on earth do i go to apply for a livelihood at the UN? I am really interested in pursuing a post there, i similar to there ideals contained by international law, international deposit, economic nouns, social progress and human rights.

I've been interested within the UN ever since Kofi Annan went surrounded by office as Secretary General of the United Nations 10 years ago, and very soon Ban Ki-moon as the Secretary General.

Answer:
Yes, you definitely involve a university degree.

In certainty, if you want to get an analyst position or highly developed, you need to own at least a master's level. Better yet, a PhD or doctoral level. Without a college degree (or even beside a college degree), you may be able to return with the General Services level -- doing mostly admin job, at most research assistant. Those that do the most exciting jobs (the Professional Level jobs) own advanced degrees.

The United Nations have a lot of agencies covering a cavernous span of fields. United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) focuses more on nouns -- so social science degrees such as economics would do okay in that. World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) base in Geneva focuses on trademarks, patent and all those copyright issues, so a point in decree would be very adjectives. World Health Organization (WHO) focuses on health and employ a lot of doctors, scientists and condition policy analysts.

I suggest you check out the United Nations, its various agencies, the types of skills and teaching requirement they need and after go for it. Visit the UN Jobs site to see the type of workers the UN is looking for https://jobs.un.org/galaxy/release3/vaca...

Take minute of your exam date and divide the entire volume of work as evenly as possible so that you can study at a comfortable rate...perhaps by doing a bit studying daily.
Small incremental progress usually turns out to be particularly worthwhile in the long run...
as several as you like
A couple of hours a time after work and about 8 hours at the weekend. If you're an accounting wonder then you could capture away with smaller number but in my experience in that was other a good correlation between hours put contained by and exams passed!

I wish you luck!

In the meantime I suggest I look at other income options.
I am a recruiter. I vote you can feel free to send for again and ask if they received your application. It cannot hurt and maybe something come up in the meantime that they can use you for, otherwise, they enjoy probably decided not to hire you.

Workplace Bullying?

Question:
How can we deal next to bullying at work? There are a couple of managers who, surrounded by my opinion, are bullies. What is the best course of doings?

Answer:
Speak to your HR dept about your greivance proceedures. Ask for this within writing unless you were given this next to your contract. It tells you how to start a greivance against the staff who are bullying. If you are contained by a union consequently speak to your union rep xxxx
be more specific ; bully to one personality doesn't mean it to someone else i.e assertive etc; knob here is in my inference; more details to see if that opinion is like as the laws on the labor department books
Best Course of bustle is slap em with a big rubber paw
Learn to understand everyone's opinion of yourself. We all fit into 4 different personality...Red,Blue,Green and Yellow...You can read about these at http://lilmak.blogspot.com
Smack em one
lug notes respectively time they are like this , it will be so much better to log adjectives of this then when you enjoy enough proof give somebody a lift it to area mediator
http://search.dti.gov.uk/kbroker/dti/dti...
punch the in the frontage and tell them you aint gonna give somebody a lift it no more. but make sure theres no witnesses.
Best course of motion is to get another profession and leave. The company is commonly aware of bullying managers but will still protect them at adjectives costs - welcome to the university of time basically. I have a situation couple of years back. The representative was historically a really foul bully and many have left because of him. They have even taken it to tribunal, and each time the company (a life-size regional newspaper) had salaried the victims off to hold things quiet. I be advised to travel to tribunal by colleagues but decided that, although the money would own been kindness, the real point would enjoy been to stop him upsetting anyone else contained by the future, and clearly this be never going to happen while the company protected him. I be even told by H.R that I could make a formal complaint but that 'nothing would happen'. So I get another job. Sorry but that's adjectives you can really do.
you need to report it to at hand managers thats adjectives you can really do x
Is it just you that's individual bullied or are there others. Try and verbalize to the managers involved, they may not realise or believe they are bullying you, or it may be a comminication problem. Try and resolve the issues directly and privately near the managers concerned. If this fail call the industrial relations department surrounded by your local area for suggestion or your local union rep if you enjoy one.
first and fore-most,have you get a union, if why not? if the answer is not ,look into it ,its not difficult to become /or set up a membership? second, if they are bullying,i would try a bit of reverse psychology, ask them to fuse you for an out of hours drink, get them nice and relaxed and try to pick what little brains they enjoy ,and how you and your comrades could improvise to make things better contained by the work place? third thing still ask them to fuse you all for a drink, and if the above doesn't work, conquer the living daylights out of them, and resign? worked for me??

What should I be making per hour?

Question:
I am in Ohio.
State min wage go from $5.15 to $6.85.
I am a tipped employee surrounded by a small restaurant. My employer annouced yesterday that they did not have to budge by the state wage of $6.85 because they didn't gross enough contained by a year so they go by the federal wage of $5.15. I don't know what the gross amount be.
I have be trying to call the local wage and hour and getting no where on earth fast. I hold been reading the internet site and getting more confused. The Ohio website is apparently down today.
Any input would be greatly appreciated. From where on earth I stand at the moment the wage increase did not help the adjectives worker.

Answer:
You are soooo lucky, in PA. the minimum wage for tipped body is $2.83 an hour. But at least I don't enjoy to live in Ohio. =D
I would speak that they didn't increase by the time all your taxes come out.
As a tipped employee, you can be salaried less next the minimum wage.

Your wage + tips should equal or be greater than the minimum.

Be glad you get the federal wage+ tips.
you should be optimistic your boss is going to pay you the states minimum wage. where on earth i live , because you are a tipped employee, it counts as chunk of your wage and the employee solely has to repay the difference between minimum wage and what your average tips are.
Your employer is likely correct. Small businesses are repeatedly exempt from this kind of minimum wage, at tiniest for a year or two. The legislation is just a "quality good" measure that will not affect most workers. 90% of the job in the United States are created by small business.

Talk to the labor board. Have them trademark sure that your employer is in compliance next to the new directive. If he is, and you are still unhappy, look for another charge. If enough general public quit, he may find he has to make higher wages.

For example, you may temp at a company that is drastically strict on policies, but pays well. Then your subsequent assignment may allow you more flexibility, but reduced pay. It will allow you to stability those things out and figure out what compassionate of company you want to work for. I must admit though, you may not start by doing something you want to do. Why are so plentiful electricians so flipping arrogant.?

Question:
I believe they think they are somehow superior to other trades, and that you own to be some kind of physics professor to twig wiring.

Answer:
My dad be a licensed journeyman electrician for 42 years and I never considered him as arrogant. He is very knowledgable and education what he had well-educated over the years is not easy. The writing for us, that had no perspective in the electrical world, is difficult to explain. It would be approaching taking him in to a/an surgery/operating procedure and trying to explain what be going on to him using the latin lingo they use. He was darn apt at what he did, including, being requested as a troubleshooter contained by the Three Mile Island meltdown in PA. Don't condemn for what you don't take but recognized the education yet to be intellectual.
They think they know everything because they know how to line buildings. Some of them also make pretty angelic cash, so they muse they are better for that.
We think our style to the solution and not smell our way in that!

Just kidding.

Anyway, I haven't notice any difference in arrogance between

the trades.

I believe they're all in the order of equal. If anything, electricians don't make

as much as some other trades, so there's nought to be arrogant

about.
