Well...I enjoy just one impressively little piece of advice: you are what you surmise you are. If you think ONE discouraging boss ruined you for the future, afterwards you are doomed.

I work in HR so know a touch about this. Dyslexia should by canon be treated as a disablilty so you need to announce it. My girlfriend (very dyslexic!) worked contained by a call spotlight and made loads of typos on the database she used, even though things were spelt out a note at a time. I've learned to slow down at times and double check my work. I also enlighten my boss that when something is really big and confussing that I want his review before final submission and relate him I'm concerned I may have made a mistake somewhere.

My first year of university was hell on dust because I had no computer or word processor. I so love spell check!!!... competent to use several different ways of taking in information at different times and so on.
I found over the years that I even flip concepts, organise my thought differently surrounded by essays and so on. I think differently. I found this out when doing my papers for university. I am a accurate writer now. But this is something a have to really struggle with.
Fortunately I am immensely analytical and that has help me through in inventing strategies. A lot of very intelligent family are dyslexic! I score an above average IQ (129 on my most modern test on another time it might be lower or higher...that's the approach it works!) even with out them carrying out tests the areas I am strongest in. It took a long time for me to adopt all this. You touch so stupid! You know you're smart! but you don't have confidence within it because people appear to be showing you you are stupid! it makes no sense. People hold made fun of me and 'believed' I was stupid because of this charactoristic. I get exactly how you feel.
My dyslexia worsens when below pressure, stress, if certain dietary wishes are not met and from fatigue. Just great when you have a rag to write! Or an employer breathing down your neck. So I knowledgeable to work well independantly, avoid situations where on earth it might stand out.
A friend of mine has dyslexia also. Hers affects her writing on the other hand she owns her own business. She dosn't like to enjoy anyone see her writing. Not even me! Sigh!
I find the 'brain' foods help, also meditation and chant, diet and so on. The more confident and less like a cat on hot bricks you can be..I know its hard...the smaller number it is agrevated. ;o) I am actually going to own an adult assesment done because I want to do a second level and hope to get some things clarified up to that time I am enrolled. My dyslexia and personal enthusiasm problems held my marks down at times so it is presently harder to get into graduate institution. I see people next to their masters who I know darned well enjoy a fraction of what I have to grant, but they get within and I don't. It really hurts!
So after being afraid to be branded beside a disability I am finally going to get the rag work to prove it and hope then my intellectual frustration will be allieviated!
