I think some union let the power gain to their heads. It's not just about helping employees, it more or less SCREWING management.
I can't disagree near you...you're right...unions have their time and place and it's long since passed. Too many ancestors belonging to unions get hold of undeserved breaks and contained by some cases, I honestly can't believe what people capture away with freshly because they belong to a union. I myself hold never worked for a union. At one point years ago, I worked for an AVP of Labor Relations and I remember when he'd negotiate contracts at our federation facilities, he be known for making sure the coalition people get less than non-union. There may be a few cases where on earth a union may still do some pious, but in common, not likely.

Unions have certainly outlasted their usefulness. Union workers are no better than non-union many times. The ethnic group who benefit these days are those that run the union. They make a bunch of money for doing not much and stir up trouble to prove correct the dues they charge. Its not NAFTA sending jobs overseas, its union that have priced themselves into the severance line.

Tell that to the woman who had her personal items gone through for no lawful reason. When she complained give or take a few her the management started to threaten her beside the sack. When she continue to protest they did fire her. The association paid for her official costs and the Company was severely penalised by their treatment of her.
That said I must agree that sometimes the union are as bad as the nouns.
I have worked at companies where on earth the employees have to be in a league. In at least one overnight case The workers were treated correctly by the management and when the union called for a strike because they considered necessary to prove they could the workers told them union official which dirrection to go. Unfortunately the direction suggested be physically impossible.

I'm afraid I don't have direct experience to share, but I'd check the big online profession boards (Monster, HotJobs) - AND the smaller, local classifieds (For some reason, abundant security companies still peddle in classifieds only)
Also, you might try contacting the BIG indemnity companies and seeing if they have any opportunity down there - who know, you might have a charge before you move!
