Can my ex employer keep hold of my ending check?

Question:
I quit this job, the owner hired me as a contractor to work on his house, I worked their 8 weeks, this guy would stand 10 inches from my frontage and scream and cuss and take on, he would put me down, and I could'nt take it, it be quit, or hit the old man, so I quit.
And immediately he's says he's keeping my ultimate check till I sign terimnation papers, I was'nt terminated, I quit.
And now he's motto I stole tools from him.
I have excellent refrences from every assignment I have ever done, and I enjoy never been accuse of stealing in my duration.
What can I do about this?

Answer:
I"ve be there, she didn't income me on time and she be rude and when I quit she didn;t want to give me my check she owed me over $3,500, I be stupid and didn;t fight for it.
HE can NOT save that money or make you sign anything, you earn that money and it's yours HE HAS to give it to you. you let somebody know him that if he does not give you that money you will pinch it to Court, if you didn;t steal anything he has nought to prove that you did..obviously, so don;t verbs about that !!
MAKE SURE YOU GET YOUR MONEY.
try legally recognized advice
Pay an attorney a small allowance to write the jerk a notification!
Walk a way forget your finishing check change you mobile number.
Normally i would say quarrel it-but depending on how much money are we talking here and how impossible you need it i would a short time ago cut my losses and move on. And i would distribute the bastard a great big FXCK YOU right to his face for fitting measure.
Yes-you could come to blows it and take it to court and adjectives, but would it be worth it?
Get a local attorney to advise you on your course of performance. Small Claims Court or the BBB may be able to relieve out.
Visit a lawyer - it would be worth the expense to hold the lawyer distribute him a letter outlining the tenet and demanding your money. He shouldn't be allowed to get away next to this kind of behavior.
Put a mechanic's lien on the property surrounded by question. You lone have a short term of time to do this, so you have to stroke quickly but specifically the best way to achieve paid. Then get hold of an attorney if he continues to harass you.
He can't legitimately keep your later check. The trick is getting it. I would suggest small claims court if the amount in cross-examine is below the jurisdictional limit. He'll hold to explain to the judge why he think he shouldn't give it to you. You should also contact your state's Department of Labor to get a complaint.
HE can't keep you ultimate check! have an attorney toy with this.. but would it really matter? paying an atourney would equivalent or even surpass your paycheck.. but if its roughly your pride.. then.. run!!
he by law cannot hang on to ur last check unless u hold signed a contract with him. stating he can until adjectives work complete. also he has the burden of proof for proving that u stole the tools from him. threaten to pocket him to court if he doesnt return your check.
Even if the job be not completed he owes you for what you've done. My fiance' had a problem resembling this, and i told him to collect his money or tell the guy you'll see him surrounded by court. he got his money. Good Luck
if u do sign any item u write on what ever u quit and tell him specifically what you'll write when signing tell him you will clutch him to small claim court and report him to better buisness buero
also tell him any article you sign you want the copy as back up papers for adjectives if u need it--good luck
Pam,
Get a attorney, and Get your check. Your entitled to it.

Real Estate Agent!?

Question:
I am considering a future position in physical estate. Im still young and hold the opportunity to go to university and this field definetly interests me. The solely thing is I dont know is where on earth to start and where I should look into going to college at. Should I go to a company and bring my feet drizzling or should I go to university first. I understand that this is a comm base job but are their other opening opportunites that do require pay w/o human being a real estate agent first. Just to see if this is right for me it would be great if I could gain some info on this matter. Also if anyone can make a contribution me some ideas on school in san diego and even recommend any companies I would greatly appreciate it, appreciation!

Answer:
1. Licensing
Realtors are typically licensed by their state. Usually this involves taking (and passing) a number of specialized courses. At the finale of the course you take a tryout to get your license. I'd suggest you start here: http://www.dre.ca.gov/licstats.htm.... Also, license typically costs $$$.

2. Choosing an Office
Once you have a license you involve to choose an office to work beside. As a new Realtor the #1 article to ask about is what sort of support system they enjoy in place for current agents. Do they have mentor programs? Sales courses? Issues such as commission split (how much of respectively sale you bring back to keep) matter more when you are experienced, smaller quantity when you are starting out. Go with the organization that gives you the BEST support.

3. Board of Realtors
You typically involve to be the member of the local board of realtors. The bureau you join can help out with this. Joining the board also costs $$$.

4. Realistic Expectations
The AVERAGE Realtor make about as much as a mediator at Pizza Hut. Although it is POSSIBLE to be very successful surrounded by this business, that is not the norm. Further more, it can transport 3-6 months before you obtain a check! You need to be financially prepared to sustain yourself during this startup period.

5. Setting Your Own Hours
This is a myth. Although you SORT of set your own hours as a Realtor, if you want nouns you need to dance with doesn`t matter what hours your customers demand of you. If they want to see a house at 8am Sunday morning, you work 8AM Sunday. If they want to sign a purchase agreement at 11PM Friday hours of darkness, you work 11PM Friday night. Particularly when you are starting out you simply have to suck it up and do this. As you establish yourself you inaugurate to gain more control but realistically, the very best realtors are the ones who be paid the business their life.

WHAT THE? SO IS THERE ANYTHING GOOD?
Absolutley. People who are made for Real Estate REALLY REALLY LOVE the business. They thrive on the excitement, the opportunity to work with populace, and the control over their own destiny. In Real Estate you make as much as you work for. If you work tricky, you'll get salaried for it. This is such a nice change from 9-5 job where you still go and get the same check no business how hard you work.

If you be in motion into the business with convincing income expectations, a willingness to work really sturdy to build your business, and an understanding of the reality of the job, you can create an excellent occupation for yourself!
People love to talk in the region of their jobs. Go sermon to some real estate agents.
I'M A REAL ESTATE AGENT HERE'S SOME HELPFUL INFO. research companies you want to work for earlier you take your class. find out what companies will sponsor you for your experiment. For instance Coldwell vs Prudential. They have workers do their training program after you complete licensing and they can bring up to date u upfront about fees they require. If is something like a $1500 investment to start your career. Usually 350 for class, 50 for license (u need a broker to sponsor you so you can receive your license) You hold to pay desk fees, business cards, sometime ur company charges y ou for their training program also joining board of Realtors and state board of Realtors. Joining MLS, multi fact list system and having access to those listings. I would recommend that you whip your time and realize that this is s business where not a soul is your friend. They will steal your listings and your client so fast. SO don't estimate that anyone will be sincere in training you. That is what I own encountered. People are not genuine in this industry. Realize if it isn't right for you at hand are other outlets such as working in nouns offices, mortgages, human being a rental agent. There different aspects of this industry that can help catch your feet showery. Good luck and dont be afraid to take indiscriminate bc u will be surprised in yourself.
I am a former Realtor (this is slightly different than anyone a real estate agent...you own to join a board of Realtors). Anyway, here's the do business...

1. You have to return with licensed. Many states have recipocal agreements (you can capture your licenses surrounded by Alabama and transfer it to Mississippi and so forth). One state beside the strictist standards is Texas. This is probably the best state to get licensed contained by as almost every other state will allow you to practice real estate if you are licensed here.

2. You can embezzle many of your courses online.

3. Do not expect to receive any real money at material estate for 3 years. This is not a myth! It takes several years to establish your business. It typically take 6 weeks (if nothing go wrong...and something always does) from writing a contract to signing the closing papers. You do not form a dime until all the checks hold been distributed. Real Estate is NOT a fast way to bring in a $$.

4. Choose a larger real estate company that will train you surrounded by the business. Prudential Real Estate is a pretty good choice. They hold training programs to help latest agents. otherwise, you maybe on your own to cram the ropes.

5. Everything cost money. Joining the local board of realtors (monthly fee), advertising (monthly fees), gas to drive clients around, signs to put surrounded by yards, etc. Everything is out of pocket. Some physical estate companies even charge a "desk fee" (basically you rent space at thier office).
To get an thought of the market; I would unambiguously consider going into new homes sale. This is something you can do without have a real estate license and at impossible to tell apart time it will give you an theory of what your income will be if you are on commission only. The just difference is that in unmarked home sales; lead will come to you and in selling solid estate you will have to look for lead.

Why does it cost money to report an employer who is hiring illegals?

Question:
Am I not going to the right website? I tried reportillegals.com were you can report any illegals or the employers that hire them but they are charging $10 for it. Is this legit? Is near another website I can go to?

Please no rude comments. The foundation I am researching this is because I recently found out that nearby is a company hiring illegals and treating them really bad next to long hours and very particularly low pay, which I presume is wrong. I know these people aren't suppose to be here but they hold no right to treat them as though they are slaves...they are humans too.

Answer:
sounds like a scam in recent times contact the INS

http://www.usimmigrationsupport.org/cont...
greedy americans always wanting money
It is not ligit- give the name your local Immigration office or find the 800 number surrounded by your area. You cant be charged to report an unofficial offense.
It sounds like that website is a scam. YES-its a scam. I can say-so for certain it is.
I enjoy no clue who or where you would report such hum, but without a doubt that website is a scam. Dont pass them a dime.
look in the white page book (blue section) for INS and call them
try another route.... immigration would be my best guess...
send for the BBB and see what they say .. or nearby website www.bbb.org
Dial 411 and ask them for the nearest labor board. That web-site is a joke...
Go to the proper authorities such as immigration instead of stupid websites if they are charging you a charge to report an illegal alien consequently there of late in it for the money
Check the washed out pages for Immigration and Naturalization below US Government listings. If you suspect a terrorist connection I urge you to telephone Department of Homeland Security. Your states employment services department might also be interested. We have a fractured and fragmented system of agencies and departments and yaddah so I comprehend your frustation. Worse comes to worse call your US Senator's department closest to where you live and ask "how to".
I too looked-for to report an illegal who be a meth seller dating and supplying it for my kid, very well ofcourse he threatened to kill me and said he have a canadian passport so he could just come contained by again that way if deported and go and get me. The police weren't interested at all, the ilegals aren't even blinked at here within Wa state, meanwhile I have to abide by every single law and fine for it, while ilegals don't even vote, and aren't following the law--so fudge it! Isn't resembling I can go to Mexico and squat if I feel like it, soak up the land and not follow their law.

Where can i draw from remunerated for sleeping?

Question:
are there such "jobs" avaliable or is it only just wishfull thinking

Answer:
I think you may be capable of get remunerated to sleep if you are part of a clinical trial.
Try contacting a sleep research core such as:
http://www.lboro.ac.uk/departments/hu/gr...
If they can't help you, probably they will know someone who can.
There are sleep study clinics but they are mainly for folks with sleep problems but I meditate they take relations for research too.
my third shift does it and gets into trouble every time... it is wishfull thinking
i dunno but if you find out consent to me know!
i take nap at work when no one is looking.. hahaha...

love it..love it..
Just wishfull thinking, I'm affraid! Saying that some of the guys at work sleep I'm sure!!
I would guess a dark watchman or a security guard of some-kind
I don't really estimate there are these such job available. However i often sleep alot contained by my job and get hold of paid, so you can enjoy mine if you want!
if you ever find onelet me know i do that all sunshine right now for FREE!
I'm not sure if near are many job in that pasture. In the Lil Abner comic strip that is what Abner did; he tested mattress by sleeping on them at the factory, go home, ate dinner and went to bed rash so he could get a well brought-up nights sleep so he would be fresh for another rough morning of work sleep testing mattresses.
ohhh yes, surrounded by some TV commercials, they need some sleeping bugs, and the income is cool.
The only one I can judge of is sleep-in shifts in residential home - although I own a feeling that it would involve a bit more than sleeping.....
Join the Metropolitan Police Force, I always see them sleeping contained by their cars as I drive around at night..
Residential homes taking consideration of elderly, disabled, mentally disabled. The per hour isn't a whole lot, but my friend works 3 days a week and get 40 hours for sleeping. The clients rarely rouse her, because they're fairly self sufficient.
I read a while stern about a chore out in CA where on earth you could get cramp ~$15/hr to sit shotgun in a fedex truck so the vehicle could travel within the HOV lane. If all you are is a live body within shotgun, you could be hungover, asleep, or studying for college.
sounds like a position for me......let me know if you gain a job!

Good luck

Im decide to embark on a craft surrounded by human resources.?

Question:
I need interview tips. I already know the brass tacks, such as dress code, how one should act and present oneself, researching the company beforehand...etc.

What I really want to know is are they're absolute facts that I need at my fingertips for an interview for a HR position or are the interviews more on my sense of self and type of character. I know for an analyst position one should know the interest rate and hold certain knowhow about accounting. I am an Econ core at NYU and I just want to be fully prepared for an interview for a HR position. Unfortunately the net doesn't have much tip on HR. I would close to to hear from experienced HR professionals if possible. Thanks.

Answer:
Keep the following focus in mind:

"Past ways predicts the future behaviour"

To practice it, you neeed to verbs and dig out his/her chronological performance something like key attributes needed contained by the job.

Remember the following "sleight of hand word":

STAR: Situation, Task, Action Result.

Try asking about a SITUATION contained by his/her past undertaking
Ask about his/her TASK contained by that situation
Ask what ACTION he/she took
Ask what was the Result of the dealing

Complete the STARs for all the knob areas of the job e.g. Communication skills, negotiation skills etc. This predicts how he/she will execute in the undertaking.

Best of Luck
There are resources on the web for your research...Society for Human Resources Management - SHRM , shrm.org, is probably the best place to start. Another trellis resource is HR.com. I recommend that you do a little research going on for the HR field as preparation for employment application and interviews.

My boss keep me miserably cold! Help. :(?

Question:
I don't know what is wrong with her - She and most of the women contained by this office are completely overweight. They keep this department very unreasonably cold. The average temperation is 68 degree.

The window within my room is sealed shut and no work information for repairs are being processed at this time.

I tried closing my vent but she came into my bureau one day and popped them unscrew, saying, "You hold expensive equipment and it cannot overheat."

I AM MISERABLE!

I am to the point of quitting because I am uncomfortable every sunshine. A sweater cannot keep my icy fingers thaw out, my nose from running, or my foot from turning into blocks of ice.

I own mentioned the cold situation before and I take picked on for being 'too skinny.' Nobody will adjust the thermostat for me. When I up it, my boss scamper up as fast as her pudgy butt will allow and she turns it down again.

Help?

Answer:
At my organization we have a similar issue. Ours is other cold because the A/C is controlled off site. Some idiot surrounded by another city has control over our heat, which is a stupid way to run things.

A lot of folks in my department either where on earth jackets/sweaters or buy a small space heater. You can draw from a space heater at Wal-Mart for beneath $50.00. I would check your employee guide to see if you are allowed to bring one in. If you don't find a mention next there should not be any problem.
Can you find a little electric stove in your bureau?
my boss bought me a small heater suggest it!
aww that sucks~ wear a jacket to work and maintain it on all time! i am in big-hearted of the same boat. my bureau is either freezing cold or really really hot (no nice medium).. i usually wear my jacket adjectives day at work to stay heat...and i make lots of hot chocolate..
you could possibly buy a heating blanket to hang on to over your lefs and feet, or even a portable mini space heater...
good luck
Go to work wearing a parka, scarf, mittons and boots...
68 is not cold, you're simply not used to the heat. Try to convince her to get it to 70 though, because the 2* different stingy a whole lot of CO2 be not emit by the power company to cool her fat ***. that or bring a radiator. It's the company's electric bill, not your.
Start a fire using the computer and other assorted work-product. If anybody says anything, of late tell them "Caveman no similar to iceage. Caveman like thaw flicker-flicker."
There has to be someone greater than your boss who you can bring this up too. Bring your concerns to them and explain to them that you can't focus on your work with the warmth so cold. See what options they endow with you if they arent for your best interest start looking for a job that might accomadate your desires. Good luck! =)
OH, I so feel your niggle...I am in like peas in a pod situation!! We can't open our window because we have semi's and other trucks running within and out all daylight...too much dust... So they keep it at 66-68 adjectives the time!! They even run the air surrounded by the winter! WTF??!
I hate have to wear winter clothes in the summer! I desire I could offer some pious advice, but I am at a loss myself! Maybe could you put for a while space heater below your desk? Or bring hand warmers to keep hold of in your desk for emergency!! lol...
Good luck in doesn`t matter what you do...
Buy an electric blanket and put it on your seat, or cover your legs beside it when you're at your desk.

Also, wear a woolly hat / scarf, and buy some "grandad" gloves - the gloves which enjoy no fingers on the ends.
These are REALLY useful because they hold on to your hands reheat, which in turn keep the blood flowing to your fingertips warm, and also allow you to type/write next to no problems.
Do you think you might be capable of bring a small space heater merely for your cubicle? You might have to step over her head to HR to agree to them know just how difficult the situation is for you.
68 is cool, but not overly, so I'm not sure how far you will know how to take the complaint.
You are right, that lashing people obtain hot fast, and light people are cool. If you do own to leave this position for this reason you must instigate to document each incident next to dates and times within order to collect dismissal.
It's too bad you own to leave an ok assignment for such a silly reason.
I can surface your pain. My organization is the exact same way. Everyone is obese and they stay hot. I would resembling to once tell them to lose rather of the fat and possibly they would cool down a little bit.

I get a small heater and stuck lower than my desk and it works perfect.

Good Luck!
Umm.. ask for a kiln or if you really like the available job get one yourself. Keep turning the vent off. If they do not mend to your minor call for then tolerate them know you are going to quit because you just cant thieve it anymore.
Get a small heater to put below your desk! I have a small earthenware one and it works great!
I had equal problem...Can you switch working areas with a spot contained by a corner with no breeze? Talk to the boss' boss. You shouldnt be humiliated like that...I know it sucks. Use a mini electric fire!
I have be in this same situation and I certainly get hives from the cold, so resting on the runny nose and excruciating discomfort, I'm itchy. First of all, do you own a human resources department or is your boss the only entity you can talk to roughly speaking this? If you have a human resources dept. I would shift directly to them and file a complaint. National standard for a/c is 72 degree (not 68). If you have not a soul to complain to other than the boss than I ruminate it's time to switch jobs. It's unwelcome that your co-workers are overweight and causing you such misery.
My bureau is the same instrument but I work will all men!!

I go out and bought a small heater beside petty cash and it's underneath my desk and I love it!!

Good Luck
Stay Warm
I work in a dialysis part and they crank up the coldness all the time. My suggestion to you is to bargain to your boss about keeping your vent closed and maybe using a enthusiast for this "expensive equipment". You shouldn't have to wear a parka to work. If she does not compromise on the vent maybe it's time to run above her head. Explain that your discomfort is affecting your work potential.. Other knowledgeable good luck and bundle up!!
Well I would close the vent again or bring in a small space electric space space heater. If she comes in to unequivocal the vents again you want to politely explain to her that you are very cold, that the organization is kept uncomfortable cold for you.
If she brings up the bologna nearly the office equipment you can share her that closing the vents does not elevate the temperature satisfactory to put anything in jeopardy but does clear your work day a more productive one.
And honestly if anyone said anything to me something like being 'too skinny' I would not dally to use the same tone of voice they did and mention person 'too fat'. There is NO difference in mention!
It is not uncommon for an organization to be kept at that temperature, due to the warmness office and computer equipment generate. Unfortunate for you, though, it seem, though it is not done to cause you misery. You might ask, thoughtfully, your boss if you might have a small space boiler at your feet, to operate solely on low. Learn to wear silk, thermal undergarments to help retain high temperature. Layer your clothing. Surely you realize that one of a group will not win against the group.

And I HOPE you are not doing this at work...bosses have a funny means of access of searching your computer to see where on earth you've been. I don't reckon this post would humor her at ALL.

If all else fail, find another job. Good luck, dear one.
If most of the relations in the organization are happy beside the thermostat setting, it's unreasonable of you to expect them to adjust it on your account. Dress space heater. There are special mitts for typing with cold hand. Leg warmers and crazy socks can look interesting and keep you heat (depending on the dress code in your department.) Wear heavier tights instead of bare legs or nylons...wear layer, with T-shirts or reservoir tops beneath your outerwear. Keeping your torso warm increases your overall body high temperature. You can even keep sweaters and special socks and shoes at the organization so you can wear them while you work but not at other times. Also, if there is some instrument you can wear a hat, keeping your come first warm keep in profoundly of body heat. Adjust your personal body thermostat and be a cheerful organization mate.
Get a space heater, gloves, and a obverse mask.
Before you purchase a small space oven, ask building management if you can enjoy one. There may be a local law against space heaters surrounded by offices. Where I work we cannot hold them.

How do i as boss over 4 others to follow my instructions?

Question:
am head of my dept, beside 4 other guys under me. ongoing problem beside them refusing to do as told on situation, do things their own way, repeatedly not do at all; also regularly go to my superior to speak i am not doing my job. i enjoy been told cannot control my culture , but they were same next to previous boss had, frustrating. so how do i attain them to do job agency supposed to be done. are union, cant be fired, so is not solution. stipulation reply soon!!

Answer:
Document, document, document. My significant other had a similar problem next to unionized workers. He started documenting everything, written warning - 3 copies, one to member of staff, one to his superior and one for his own files. It took him a year but finally was competent to fire the fellow.
These people perceptibly believe being grouping means the are unfireable. They are, you necessitate patience and diligence.

When my s.o. presented the hand with the complaint, the worker be required to sign it acknowledging he be aware of the warning. When you find pages of signed complaints over equal thing (not doing things properly), it become rather unconcealed you have grounds to obtain rid of that person.

Good luck. I believe union are a good article, but some people bring full advantage and i.e. not fair to the employer.
Look into (and by look into, I show ask HR, ask your boss) video taping or audio cassette on premises, maybe to show in attendance insolence.
Maybe your superior needs to step surrounded by and have a assemblage with everyone. Make sure you are firm but nice when getting your point across. If there are written rules everyone should follow them.
you front by example
you get more done next to laughter, joke than barking information

Give up my duty for a element natural life?

Question:
I am married and in my mid forties living within the UK . I am not wealthy, but I own a respectably paid career. However, I have done a generous amount of career building and I am getting sick of the 'rat race' and the stress and responsiblity surrounded by my job. . I am wondering going on for giving up 'quantity' and getting a better 'quality' of life. This would indicate a big change, confer up my job, smaller amount money, move home, but less stress.

Some epople say aloud, change when you retire, but who know what the future holds. I'm all set for change in a minute, but should I take the plunge?

Answer:
I hold made career change and taken jobs that grant me less than I am competent to attract so that I can have a better ability of living rather than purely existing to go to work.
If you can afford it, even if it funds giving things up... go for it. No one on their release bed says "I will I'd spent more time at the office".
If you have ample money where you can comfortably "retire" and I use this occupancy loosely since you are quite young-looking, then travel ahead and follow your heart. Life truly is too short, enjoy it!
Only you can create the decision ultimately, but why not start by looking into going module time in your current assignment while you cultivate the kind of work you really want to do. Then you'll know you really resembling the new direction and know how to gradually take the edge off into the change. There's no time similar to the present - quality of duration is very celebrated and you should go for it.
I hear like mad about you surrounded by your question, but I don't hear anything more or less how this would affect your marriage. Do you hold kids? Before anyone could give you any suggestion worth having we would stipulation to know more about those things.
I did , sooooo much better , in recent times make sure you can nouns yourself ::::::ie , the walk to procure the paper : the day by day elec/gas/council tax (mobile within the bin) ::::::No more traffic , soppy meetings , its great
If you be single, I would say "Do it" within a heartbeat. However being married carry some responsibility and the change would markedly impact upon your wife and her lifestyle. If she is up for it, I think you should shift for it otherwise you face a unbelievably tricky dilemma.

Yes you can wind down for retirement but by next you may be too old or sick to savour the freedom. Make the most of your life and choose how you want to spend it. Work to live, dont live to work.
you brand of answered your own question. if you grain that way next do it. Only you can decide. Good luck.
First I will a moment ago say you can contact me if you desire to talk further but I will toss surrounded by my perspective. There are things that everyone wants to accomplish contained by life and 99 percent of those things are shaped around time and money. One minus the other isn't very fun. I know money doesn't buy great pleasure, but neither does being broke. Money can give control over time and there for donate you freedom. I'm saying don't toss money for time. Basically what I do for a living is guide people how top build residual income while keeping their livelihood. This money eventually becomes their primary income and they consequently have no problem quiting their profession to do whatever they want. It does lift work but you have to ask yourself- how impossible do I want change?
Sincerely,
Ken Seavert
I contemplate you absolutely should renovate career path if you feel strongly that you are woeful. Regardless of what your wife may think of it at this moment, your brightness in other aspects of your duration cannot help but affect your connubial relationship. If you are unhappy and stay on at your commission, there is almost certainly it will be reflected within your personal life.

If you hold a strong and nurturing relationship with your wife, you should not waste time to speak with her give or take a few it, getting another perspective in the process. Ultimately, it comes down to what you advantage more. We all close to to talk roughly quality of time, but for a good percentage of the population, level comes from quantity. So deem hard going on for what makes you happiest and if you know for sure those things are not creature comforts, afterwards plunge away!
