Careers Employment Questions and Answers

I'm thinking of starting a business and i'd love your planning more or less it...pls read details..?

Question:
i'm moving to FL and there are lots of nursing homes and retirement communities at hand.
i was thinking around marketing my services as a helper to the elderly. i could run errands for them, rob them to a dr appt or to the grocery store. i could sit with them and drop by or read to them. i could rent movies for them or take them to the theater.

i'm wondering if this is even a upright idea. any thoughts would be appreciated. i delight in older associates and i would love to help them out. i know some children of late stick their parents in a home and forget around them!

also, how would you figure out pricing? of late gas plus any expenses and then a flat payment for time spent?? just a thought

thankfulness!

Answer:
Caring for the needs of elder people is a big commission and services including the ones that you mention here, can be a lifeline to seniors--and to their family caregivers. (Did you know that something like 85 percent of the the care needed by elder people surrounded by the US is provided by unpaid family caregivers?)

The folks who could provide you beside information that would be helpful to you as you generate a business plan in your community can be found at your local Area Agency on Aging. The staff here will know about the programs and services that are available and can provide you some insights something like what are the major unmet desires for seniors and for caregivers. They would also be able to provide you some information roughly speaking price ranges for different services in the geographic nouns that they serve.

Area Agencies on Aging are one of the best kept secrets around for elder Americans and their families and sometimes sponsor or contract next to providers for services that seniors need. There is one serving every community of the United States. Area Agencies on Aging recurrently have services and connections to programs that can give a hand family caregivers.

You can phone up toll-free 1-8OO-677-1116 to find how to contact the Area Agency on Aging serving the county where you live.

After you catch the phone number for your local Area Agency on Aging and make the ring up, ask for the staff that handles "Information and Assistance" or the "Family Caregiver" program.

If you do contact your local Area Agency on Aging and close to the help that they donate you, let your local county official and your folks in Congress know. Or consider making a contribution to support their work. Area Agencies on Aging don't hold big budgets-- and appropriations for the Older Americans Act, the legislation that makes this back possible-- have not increased significantly for almost 25 years!

Hope this helps! Thanks for gentle about the desires of seniors and best wishes as you make your business plan!
There are already companies that do that, so I dont know how all right it will work for you doing indepently, but as far as pricing you could call some of the companies that already tender the same service and report them your looking to find someone to help out your grandmother and your considered necessary to get some pricing for it. Then you stir from there.
it is a worthy service but most of them do not have a budget to transport care of that or they would be surrounded by a well lit retirement comunity. where on earth all to be exact catered for them. depends on the demand for that where on earth you are. however they might need a choufer ( their coup¨¦ ) some cannot drive anymore, some will not admit that! survey the associates arround you.
Sounds like a apt idea. You would basically have to spawn sure you market your service really economically so they know you exist. I'd try hooking up with the local VNA office, make a flyer/pamphlet for them to supply to their clients.

An hourly rate and then parking/gas should work freshly fine. You could even price out a couple of packages...1 hour grocery/pharmacy stops, 5 time package @ 10% discount or something.

Good Luck!
Isn't that what inherited is supposed.
Have you considered starting an Adult foster care home? or pro tem emergency placment for the frail elderly person displaced out of here home due to natural events. Good money surrounded by the foster care business

Reverse nouns?

Question:
I got moved to a brand new dept and was told to train a girl newer than myself. I am an extremely shy individual & was suprised when she get me in trouble near my new boss because she didn't close to me telling her what to do. The problems next to her escalated to the point where they moved her out of the room and moved another girl contained by (who turned out to be her friend.) This girl also started with an attitude towards me. I hold trying to mind my own business but she (and last week both of them) verbs to try to get me contained by trouble. I go to my boss near this, but I'm being treated as though I'm the one beside the problem. I tried earphones, resembling everyone else uses, but my TC says she requests to be able to converse beside me I'm at the point now where on earth I'm afraid of losing my job for human being a complainer, but I also don't think I should enjoy to put up with this everyday - today I started getting highest heart palpitations from all of it. Any suggestions?

Answer:
Everyone answers to someone. If you own documented your complaints, you can go above your direct supervisor. You can also check out labor law in your nouns and also the feds. This may be considered harassment. Look into Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.
Don't complain -- explain. Try to make clear to your supervisor exactly what happened short blaming. See if earphones would be allowed. Or try to verbs out.
How is this reverse discrimination? Sounds similar to they just don't approaching you. Try being frank next to them and reassure them that you just want a quiet work environment.
First, this is not reverse discrimination - to be precise when you are given preferential treatment based on your age, see, gender, or other Title IX factor. What you have here is a perfonality conflict.

Either variety nice with the untried girl and her friend, or find a new mission where you mesh better beside the folks in the department. Bosses do get tired of have to referee self conflicts. If they are trying to get you contained by trouble and your boss hasn't confronted you with their complaints, s/he is probably tired of audible range them complain as well.

Let them do the whining and you do the working - your boss will see the difference, believe me.

Is one a Librarian an satisfying duty?

Question:
I know that this is a subjective question, but I am considering becoming a librarian. I hold heard both that it is low stress and gentle, but also that there be a survey that it was high-ranking stress in an unusual instrument: due to bordom and underuse of skills. Is it enjoyable or a worthy idea to become a librarian?

Answer:
It is an amusing job. It's not other quiet, at tiniest not in a public library! There are plentiful different kinds of librarians... you can work surrounded by a public library, academic (university), medical (usually within a hosp), and a few other types as well. So it really depends on where on earth you work as to whether or not it will be quiet, and the self-satisfaction of the job depends on if you are working within the type of library that you enjoy. If you are within a public library but you enjoy the university setting better than you may not be cheery. But it is generally an lovely profession.
Depends on the person

What do you think(open)!!?

Question:
ok so i want to be a doctor...yeah,but i dont know what type:(
i know i definitly want to work in an emergency room.....but i dont want to be surrounded by school adjectives my life........so what do you infer is best for me.....i mean i want to do alot more contained by life than freshly being contained by school until im 31 the most minuscule....i heard its tough to become a doctor and i will never have time for anything is that also true?(oh and if you know .....read aloud i want to be a doctor but when i finish high institution i want to work in florida or something how does that work?)

Answer:
Good for you, you know what you want to do. Yes, Doctor you hold to study a lot, but what profession don't you involve to study.

I am in the investment industry, and I am still studying for my CFA/MBA and I am 29. I'll probably go and get a CFA designation when I'm 31/32. If you need to mortgage your career and get that money, you will find yourself studying atleast till your late 20s or precipitate 30s, and it's not that bad.

Sometimes, as long as you are working also, studying will be a polite break from working and working will be a good break from studying. There are some colleges that own pre med and medical school combined together...I know BU have that. so you could look into schools beside that priviledge.

Anyway goodluck.
There's no way to become a doctor short becoming a doctor, sorry.

Perhaps you could look into going to school to become a PA, physician's assistant. As a PA-C, you unsophisticatedly do all doctor duties, including prescribing medicine, but you don't do some of the more extreme things--intubating, trauma cases, critical care. I scrounging, you CAN do those things, but you "can't" if you know what I mean. I work surrounded by the emergency room. Our PAs and FNPs are invaluable.

I use a wheelchair...?

Question:
Should I just show up for my interview or report to them when they call me for my appointment?

It is organization work for a Surfing Industry.

Answer:
2 of my friends are in chairs and i thinking for them deeply because we are (were) the mullet trifecta. one have the actual mullet, i had the professional mullet (ponytail) and the other near the fem mullet.

as for your interview i think you should show up for it contained by your chair, because if you inform them prior they might change their minds.

i hope you environment the job
lately show up
I wouldn't say anything...they should be handicapp accessible, and whether you are surrounded by a chair or not, should not be a factor surrounded by hiring you...
Either way is upright, it should not make a difference.
within 1992 the ada law be pased that you canot be discriminated if you can perform a opening as good as the subsequent person even next to a little acomodations, it will look well brought-up on their record of empoying diversification.
title 7 of civil rights.
I ruminate it doesn't matter that much because mortal in a wheelchair isn't discouraging, it wont put your career down.

But I reflect you should tell them in the past, but make something up resembling 'I have to use the wheelchair parking, is here any spots availble?' or something like that so within not suprised.

Wheelchairs rule! :)
For purposes of getting to your interview on time, ask roughly accessible wheelchair ramps. I'm sure I don't own to tell you how abundant buildings have ramp only within the back of the building, next to no signs saying where on earth they are.

My BF is in a wheelchair, and we are other encountering any this problem or following winding sidewaks that pause in steps or become too authoritarian for his chair.
Just show up. If you are competent to do the job after it does not matter if you are surrounded by a wheelchair or not.

Good luck!
Just show up the way you are. Since it's unendorsed for them to discriminate, they really don't need to know until they see for themselves.

How much will my GPA concern when looking for a post??

Question:
I am a junior at a top 50 US university completing my B.A with a double highest (Econ & Telecomm) and a minor (business). My academic circumstance is not stellar and I will probably graduate with a 2.8/2.9 GPA, my principal GPA on the other hand should not be too unpromising, maybe around the 3.3 blotch. I aslo have significant work experience since I've worked subdivision time at a managerial position throughout my time at college and would enjoy completed three paid internships within finance by the time i graduate.
My problem is that I am a international student and adjectives my internships have be abroad as all right.I can't seem to find anyone who can realistically narrate me my chances of employment here (as an analyst or smthn similar). I be hoping I could get some insight from ppl who own real world experience near the job souk as opposed to profession counselors etc. Any help would be particularly appreciated. Thanks

Answer:
There are very few job where GPA thing as far as I have found. I hold never had to tender out my transcript to any job. The GPA is with the sole purpose good for the first opportunity. After that an employer looks to what you have done surrounded by privous jobs.
not terrifically much, your GPA is mainly for determining college taking on, the work place is focused on experience
My daughter with a gpa of 3.5 be told when she applied with a company that her gpa be not high adequate. We called a friend contained by the company and she was hired the subsequent day for the living. Moral of the story is that networking beat gpa any day. Meet population where you want to work. Network beside them – try linkedin or some of the other sites. GPA can be waived if you know someone.
not much
Work experience outweighs GPA most of the time
It depends on the post, some jobs do not clear close attention to GPA, they just want you to own a degree. If you own a high GPA you can use that as a negotiate tool to get a highly developed salary.
Unless your GPA is above a 3.5 I wouldn't even put it on my resume. NETWORKING!! you gotta know poeple and own a good person, sell yourself!
Hello Taha I own owned 2 businesses and been contained by management near others so I'll answer you based on that experience. First be definitely sure you have every quality newspaper in place to legitimately work in the US. Things are getting stricter on this adjectives the time. If you are depending on an employer to file some of the critical papers be absolutely sure that they will do it and after check on the progress. Second if your spoken English is not as good as your written English I see here spend time working on it as much as possible. If it is as biddable aqs your written English you are probably ahead of a lot of US born grads catastrophic to say.

If your overseas experience is verifiable I would hire someone beside your background if we have an opening their certificate met and if they made a good depression at the interview. I like copious managers similar to to see hands on valid world experience coupled with accademic proficiency. Unless your grazing land is research or something very "egg head" that GPA should be immensely acceptable. I resembling to see an overall 3.0 and 3.5 in the focal concentration but I will gladly "trade off" for experience especially experience surrounded by the field. For telecom especially your overseas perspective may be a strong plus because so much in that nouns is being outsourced. If you can work on the GPA overall a bit, do but I would not be overly stressed nearly it.

Start now to subscribe to trade magazine, go to doesn`t matter what trade association meetings you can, to contact ppl surrounded by the industry in your nouns and ask for 15-20 min of their time to do informational interviews about the industry as a unbroken and the job bazaar in specific. The object here is to fashion contacts, to become known to ppl who may know around jobs. If you own the opportunity to write something - almost anything - for a trade publication or web site do it. You might turn those info interviews into an article on what a student surrounded by the field should expect surrounded by the job bazaar, or where experts see the industry going. Many of the top and mid ppl within your field will remember you even more if you are working on a article or even a rudimentary site or blog you create than as one more student wanting to have a word about how to find a job.

All this also will take home you more comfortable in interviewing situations. Your elementary credentials should get you at lowest some good interviews contained by the job bazaar. Package your prodct which is yourself in a benefits over features mode. Show the company not lately what you've done but how that will benefit them. One easy track to do that is to attach a brief achievement statement at respectively major heading surrounded by your resume. (For ex Section Manager, Jones Jones and Johnson ....usual info...By helping workers under my direction to touch a sense of owbership in co I be able to bring to the fore Secytion production 12% in a 6 month interval. Management trainee ABC INC. ...usual info... made suggestion that helped cut error rate 11%. You want to show the co that you will be a profitable benefit to them.

Start immediately working with your placement bureau on the issues of permanent work status and industry prospects.
True that GPA will one and only really matter contained by college placement (like if you were moving on to a masters degree), BUT! a immensely nice thing to know how to put on a resume is that you graduated beside honors or that you were on the deans schedule. These are accomplishments beyond your degrees (much similar to the internships), and make for nice additions on a resume. So, I would shoot for that.

It sounds resembling you have made yourself totally competitive for a job here within the US, the trick is to make that show contained by your resume. It would well be worth the money to hire someone to backing you with your resume when your arranged.

Don't worry much in the order of your GPA, just get sure you graduate.

What can I do roughly speaking my errand and the supervisor?

Question:
My supervisor and the team person in command appear to be locked arm in arm to drive myself and the other guy next to whom I work way too frozen. They, the super and team boss, give us assignment that are extremely way too difficult and long-drawn-out. Two men simply cannot complete these tasks in the time allotted. I overheard one of the secretaries adage that they're trying to drive us out of the job or clear us quit by mistreating us. Human Resources is making an investigation into the matter. People enjoy spoken up for us and people own been question. I am afraid of repercussion by my super which is totally illegal. He could really take home it difficult for me even though it's illegal and unprincipled to say the most minuscule. I am at my wits end trying to buy and sell with this. Sleepless night, stressed out like a 12 on a go up of 1 to 10. I'm afraid I'm going to have a severe form problem if this does not stop. GOD please help me. This is a thoroughly real situation and I'm sure others own experienced it too.

Answer:
Deep breath....okay, there are a few things going on here:

1) HR is investigating. This is a upright sign, and it is possible that the issue will be resolved here.
2) If true harassment is occurring - if you are self discriminated against, bullied, etc. - you may have a legal complaint. visit www.eeoc.gov or www.dol.gov for more info.
3) If you are experiencing work-related stress, you should see HR and report a worker's comp claim.
4) If your manager retaliates against you for any of these comings and goings (filing a w/c claim, going to HR, etc.), such retaliation is illegal and contained by itself constitutes a legitimate labor claim. The Department of Labor can assist here as okay.

Good luck.
well iam sure that if u enjoy people that r your wittnesses your fine.and if they fire u after words u enjoy a great law suit! try and hold all evidence of them miss treating u. and other have a wittness. But it also sounds resembling u should go ahead and find a latest job be 4 this get way to stressful.why be at a situation that is makeing u sick.

Is anyone else have a rock-hard time getting interviews or job? and do you consider yourself more than qualified

Question:
I am interviewing alot, but no offers. Could it be that I am asking for too much $$.

Ok, here is my environment

Full Charge Bookkeeper/Accounting Manager
13+ years experience
understand debit and credits and processed manual books earlier doing anything on computer.
Only two jobs within those 13 years.
I live in Florida
I want $40-$45K
Is that un pretty good you think?

All I ever hear contained by interviews is "Sally Sue messed up my books"!

Well that is probably why they are messed up because you compensated for a clerk and not a professional.

Answer:
I researched it online, and it seems that the average remuneration for a bookkeeper/accountant is between $25-35K so maybe that is to say why you are getting turned down.

"In May 2004, the median wage and salary annual income of bookkeeping, accounting, and auditing clerks were $28,570. The middle partly of the occupation earned between $22,960 and $35,450. The top 10 percent of bookkeeping, accounting, and auditing clerks more than $43,570, and the bottom 10 percent earn less than $18,580."

I'm not sure if it have changed since 2004, but it doesn't seem to be that much different from the other websites I found.
$45 K do you show $ 4500 ? I think you own many years of experience as accountant.
I need you could find a job soon
Sometimes it's just about who can I get for cheaper. You may simply cost too much for them and that's not your fault, freshly the job marketplace. Maybe you should look at averages for your position where you live. If they construe someone has comparable skills but not as much experience and they can remuneration them less they will give somebody a lift the cheaper labour. Sometimes you can be too qualified for a work, go digit.
Network where you want to work. Find a friend within the company or in the nouns of the company. Networking always beat cold calling.
Consider doing some temp or contract work. There's no benefits, but you would certainly prove your worth.

Also, how are you dressing for interviews? I once interviewed a explosion up lady on the phone. Massively qualified, right answers, etc. She showed up for the interview contained by Sweats, Tennies and had a coffee spill on her sweat shirt. That be an immediate "no way".

I have a sneaking suspicion that your issue is more in how you present yourself. Which isn't singular with populace who are steady workers, and don't change job. You're not a job hopper, so you don't enjoy a ton of interview experience. Hang in near, someone is willing to wages for talent. In Oregon, your wage would be right in smudge. I think contained by Florida, you are a little on the high-ranking side - but should be okay.

If you think you look great, double check next to someone who you know is over the top honest, to the point of being rude. You'll find out really hurriedly what is wrong.

Another thing, if you smoke, to be precise a big turn off contained by interviews if your clothes smell like stale smoke. Wash your clothes the darkness before, and droop them where near will be no smoky smell. Pop on a patch the day of the interview. And febreeze your clothes and vehicle the day of, only just in bag.

Watch your eye contact. Don't interrupt the interviewer, but don't give one word answers any.
yes! 50 years as a engineering tech (electronics/ component level) published. inovative and inventive have products on the bazaar and many beside FSN, can't get anyone to hire me cuz i'm 68. the concluding job i did be things for the F-22 Raptor. i guess you get stupid after 65. oh economically the off shore guys can do it adjectives now....stipulation a new jargon? oh, and your state government (wa) doesn't protection about you any.

I enjoy 2 years vanished back im sour to college which would be more beneficial?

Question:
1.Ive always required to join the army and work my process through the ranks and eventually become part of the green beray.

2.ive get a really good notion for a game for ps3 possible the workstation,id similar to to program and design the game.

3.I love architect work, designing houses and building structures

which of these would be the most beneficial contained by every way

Answer:
Volunteer during summer time off to work 3-4 hours per day, three days a week at a local architectural firm this year and a computer design firm subsequent year. Have someone there be your mentor. You will probably pick up plenty information to be able to bring in a well informed choice. As for the army... beware of recruiters. They will share you whatever you want to hear, simply to get you to enlist.
The army no longer have the green berets.(at least explicitly what I heard a few years ago)
1. until we verbs out of Iraq then its kinda not dangerous to join army
unless you wanna die
2. I be interested designing games but you will grow out of the games,
3. safest more $ .
Choose number 3, you will have a great accident at a long fullfilling life that track. I spent 4 years in the Army, 19 months of that surrounded by combat. It sucked real unpromising.
IMO, if you join the Army, it'd be a win-win situation, because you'd person doing something you want to do (moving up in the ranks) and they will payment for your college education. And, since you obligation a college education for both Architecture and Video Game Development/Programming, why not consent to the government payment for it in return for your honorable services?

Question:

Answer:
To attain a pilot's license you will need to enroll contained by a flight school and go and get trained on various planes and instruments. Then you would necessitate to check airlines to see who was hiring and where on earth they fly. Flights are done on a bidding system, by seniority. The longer you have worked for an airline the better your likelihood are to get the routes you want to fly. You are compensated by the flights you actually do (with adjectives benefits when you are overnight in a city). There are multiple option for a pilot, you can work for a passenger airline, cargo holder, private pilots, fire and rescue operations, word crews/traffic reporting. It will all purloin time and experience to gain the better jobs. You will own to be patient and work your course through things.

You can always engender money online from http://tinyurl.com/23yj3x is a great way to form extra money. The site will ask you to complete surveys and offers and those companies will later pay you. Unilike most work at home job this is one is realy legit and actulaly sends real checks to you at the close of the month. It depends on your skill set. You have to own something marketable if you are going to make a clad living in a allowed fashion. There are abundant skills that do not require an education, although income usually tops out much lower next the educated skills.
Yes, if you develop a trade and seize in the grouping...good money.
coalition work is greta labour, drywall,electrician.... adjectives need position 10-12 starting wage way up in attendance! good luck!
you can other go to a votech university, you can go into construction

To employer. Do you jib to any personnel who ride their bicycles to and from work?

Question:
I can understand in attendance are jobs posittions that you get to come in tidily, showered and/or well dressed. But not adjectives jobs.
I am have problems trying to keep my job. Reasons do not seem truthful.
I enjoy riding my bike. It keep you surrounded by fit and keeps your mass down. With gas prices that are approaching four-dollars, I have allot better plan to spend my money. Infact plan to ride my bike through my working go.
My brother says the employer rather hire associates who drive their cars than the bike riders.
What do you think?

Answer:
i construe that you should ride it and no employer should tell you that you cant work here because of it. if i could ride my bike to work i would. keep riding, and i you lose a undertaking for it, sue!
I rode my bike to work for 7 years until a truck hit me.
Now I am scared of SUV they can't see me.
A Van hit me and very soon I have a knees that is not 100%.

I am a bike nut to.
WE receive no respect having a vehicle and going to work by car is classier.
I ruminate your brother has be breathing too many coup¨¦ fumes.

Unless you smell really bad from riding that bike, the bike isn't the idea. As long and you are on time and presentable for your employment, and do an adequate livelihood, employers don't caution how you get to work.

Call an ex boss, and be greatly sincere, ask why.... and don't get upset over anything.
that's silly. Ride your bike, who care. As long as you don't smell the office, you should be okay.

Besides, who would know anyways.
I dont give attention to it matters, but logically if you are dressed in a 3 piece suit and trying to ride a bike....not a worthy idea. But abundantly of people ride bikes to work that live contained by metro areas or walk. I only wouldnt tell relatives I rode a bike to work when applying its not there buiseness to very soon how you get to work as long as you achieve there.
We don't hold a problem with bike riders, as long as they are here in good time. I walk to work, because I send regrets to pay the insane gas prices as resourcefully.

Other companies might have a problem if you show up to work smelling scantily, or with rumpled clothes. My company is okay near that, since we don't see a lot of clients surrounded by person.

It's possible you enjoy an oder issue. A lot of people can't smell their own body oder. Especially if you have been working contained by close quarters next to your coworkers, this would have be a problem.
