So what if everyone know your dad is the boss? Is there a rule that say a child cannot work with their parents? Although I don't hold a dad for boss, it doesn't make my work and life span any easier. In fact, I would right to be heard it's harder.
As for unable to cope next to the work your colleagues gave you, it may not be your problem. When I see this variety of situation, it usually lies in the removal of briefing and directions given to a person. Besides, do you own the basic industrial knowledge to do the assignment independently? I assume that your colleagues are not that friendly to show you the ropes? If so, just do your best and try to grasp the *know-how*, so every time you repeat like peas in a pod job, you will solely be getting better and better.
But obviously, I do realise that you say "hate" the situation. I believe that if you are suffering mentally, then you won't do the errand well. It is never wrong to pace away from something you know won't work out for you.

Talk to your "on-site" boss and ask what is expected of you and share him/her not to treat you any differently because of the fact that your dad owns the business. If you're out-of-date enough to drop out of highschool, you're feeble enough to choose your own job path. Of course it may be more difficult getting within without a H.S. diploma. Think something like what it is that you love to do. It can be ANYTHING, and persue a career within that field, even if it routine going back to institution. Look for jobs that fit your interests, even remotely. If you don't similar to what you're doing, chances are you won't excel at it. Find something that really make you pingle inside. There is something for everyone, despite what society says.

Being the bosses kid might suck at first, since everyone isn't sure how to act around you, but here's what to do - start making some friends. Stop and get hold of some donuts or something. Maybe start out by helping run little errands, or helping out with menial tasks approaching sorting stuff, or whatever (I hold no idea what benign of business you are at).
After a little while, associates will start to get more comfortable have you around (not to mention - they might mention how helpful you are man to your dad, you can't ever go wrong next to that). It can take a bit while being the 'new guy' even if you aren't the bosses kid.
You said you dropped out of arts school - do you mean giant school or college?
If glorious school, afterwards find a program to help you go and get your equivalency (high school is retarted anyway). Then any talk to some local school, or check some online programs - make sure to focus on something that you might approaching to do (possibly related to what your dads business does - but not necessarily). If you have trouble keeping up next to the classes - you might try to only appropriate a few at a time to keep from overloading yourself.
