Careers Employment Questions and Answers

During an on chore interview, what does it stingy if the controller say she will ring up you contained by 2 weeks?

Question:
I had an interview near Macy's and i think i did pretty resourcefully, i talked something like my previous job and she said it relate near the position i was applying to in good health. But at the end she said within were no positions available and she would send for me back surrounded by two weeks. I think she said this because she dosen't want me, what do you give attention to by experience?

Answer:
If there really is no positions available, later nothing she influence will actually back. Unless she knows someone will go their current job contained by two weeks.

But usually, when she said she'll call you surrounded by two weeks, most probably you are off the chronicle. Sorry.

However, you can make a virtuous impression of yourself, and GIVE HER A CALL contained by two weeks time to ask if there is any position available. Give her the impress that you really like and carefulness for the job, and would not want her to forget nearly you so soon. Build your reputation as someone who really wants to work within. In fact, preserve in correct contact with her once contained by a while and you may even become friends...

Usually, when an employer wants you, they will articulate they will come back to you AT MOST within 3 or 4 days time (if not immediately or the subsequent day), so that they don't lose you to other employers.

Unless obviously, there are hundreds of candidate applying, which means they really inevitability to go through 2 weeks of interview. So don't pass up hope!
Usually there should be another interview. She might hail as you up again or not.
if she wants you (and i don't denote sexually), she'll hire you on spot.
It means that hopefully, contained by two weeks, you'll be someone else's problem.

Don't wait for that nickname. It's not coming.
That's a common approach of saying goodbye.
that's their instrument of saying you didn't carry it.
Why would they give you an interview if in attendance are no positions available? It sounds like you didn't obtain the job.
Don't lug it in the unenthusiastic. It could mean that they requirement to two weeks to decide if there's any first night that suits your qualification, experience and personality.
In my experience it usually way that you didnt get the brief.

Why would they call you for a interview and later turn around and say they dont enjoy any postions available?

There still hope..... I still hope you get the mission. Good Luck
It could mean they're not interested. It could plan that she knows that someone else is getting can in two weeks and nearby will be a position available. It could mean that she be leaving on leave after you interview and would not be back for two weeks, but plans to ring up you first thing upon her return.

The bottom dash is you don't know what it means. But you necessitate to assume they are still interested, but not count on getting this job. So while you should still hold on to searching, you should also be sure to transport a thank-you note highlighting how much you enjoy your meeting next to her and would be honored to work for Macy's. End the note next to, "I look forward to hearing from you when a position become available" or something of the sort. Even if she was on the barricade about you, a polite thank you note could tip the do business in your favor.
dally THREE week and if you do not recive a call, call for them. Trust me, i've had a few job and I've gone had that same article come up.....except for my current job within which i was hired right on the splash......
She could be saying she isn't interested within you, and putting you off so she doesn't hold to deal next to you now.
Or, she could freshly as easily be saw she likes you, but she still have 60 interviews over the next couple of days, and after she has to evaluate the candiates and pick the (most) suitable one...

You'll never know - try calling surrounded by a day or two up to that time the two weeks is up to see how things are going.
They don't want you.
Call them in 3 weeks and try again.
Keep trying and look within other places. They will NEVER call you.
They don't usually interview associates and tell them to hang about if they need someone.
Why would she say-so there are no positions available? Then why the hell did she interview you within the first place? Obviously, that's a complete lie. You should hold told her to go put a bet on to employer etiquitte school and revise how to interview someone correctly.

There has be more than once when I've heard posterior from somebody who has said I be a great conversationalist (also writer and speaker). However the truth is I just listen to the other people natter and only made significant, but imperturbable remarks to their conversation. You don't other have a choice. A company can require overtime, as long as they reimburse you appropriately. So, if you're looking for an answer here which gets you out of overtime, near isn't one.

If you really hate overtime and your employer have demonstrated a determination to use overtime to fill contained by for heavy period, the only prospect may be to vote with your foot and ob hunt.
The government taxes overtime too much! It can even push you into a high tax bracket. Too much work & no play is not worthy.
If they try to call you contained by, say you've be drinking. If they try to hold you over, go home sick.
Tell them that you own plans already. If you don't think that plans similar to sleeping, relaxing, cleaning your home, or bonding with your spouse will be adequate to them; just bestow it at that. "I've already made plans."
Tell them you have plans next to your family, kids, spouse. Movies, dinner. An appointment beside a doctor, lawyer. Maybe you can relate them that a service man is coming to your house to do some work on your tv, furnace, stove, washer, dryer, fridge. Good luck. http://www.residualincomes.ws
You need to spend some time next to your family.
There are other reason you can find not to work over time.

Can you be hired for one charge, but expected to do another, short compensation?

Question:
The company I work for has 2 positions: Servicer and Operator. Operator is remunerated approx. $4/hr more than Servicer. The jobs enjoy different titles, descriptions, requirements, responsibilities and pay ascend. Servicers are expected to do the job of Operators, but are compensated less money. Is this permissible? Please only those who know about labor law answer, because I'm considering challenging my company on this, and I'd approaching to know if I have a leg to stand on first. When we be hired we had a different living description from there's and now the company own gotten rid of the paperwork explaining the differences in commission duties.

Answer:
Spin this in a positive directions. Sit down and write down adjectives the duties of the "hired" position you first started in. The write down adjectives the duties/responsiblities of the position you find yourself actually doing. These tasks look appropriate on a resume, so don't leave out anything.

If your 6 month review have not already happened, stride in next to these duties and negotiate from a strong position. If you're within a few months of your annual carrying out review, even better. But remember, don't ask a question you're not prepared to adopt an answer for. And sometimes that answer may be no.

The company obviously feel you are capable, or they would enjoy replaced you with someone else. Take file of this, use it to your advantage. Seek out the opportunity to gain more training for the better position, (certification, meetings,e tc..)

Good luck...
It is official if it is not covered in the Union contract. This is a contract issue not a legitimate issue. The company just have to pay you the rate that you spend the most time at and the other career is just considered pro tem. No extra pay is required. Without a contract the company can correct your job description because as industries modify so do the necessary skills required. Flexibility is the first name of the game contained by business these days.
Employers love it when their uppity organization challenge them to "breed me do it."

Hope you like standing surrounded by the unemployment splash, malcontent.
this crap happens adjectives the time. the only mode this is in betrayal is if your company has a coalition. otherwise you are at your employer's mercy.

you would have to prove that you spent a markedly significant amount of time doing the higher rewarded work, so you would need to start documenting. but i'll bet that your opportunity descrip carries the brief requirement of "other tasks as assigned" which is the catchall to make you do anything...
my fiance has a similar issue, but it is repeatedly due to the fact that the machines he uses are broken (they be some of the first of that particular type of contraption used in the US so they arent within the best of shape). so, very repeatedly he helps out on other machines doing similar things. he doesnt gain paid any differantly, but where on earth he works salery is based on how long you own worked for the company and how well you own kept up with the preset rates of production. surrounded by your case however, $4 is if truth be told a large differance if the discriptions are differant. try your hardest to find a copy of your work discription from when you were hired. if you dont enjoy one, maybe someone else who be hired at the same time does. afterwards go to your supervisor near whoever else is chalenging this, and hope for the best. the better business beauru may be able to relief you out if your boss isnt willing to do anything.
What league represents you? & you didn't mention in which state you work. Your "assignment description" is only as enforceable as the law in the state contained by which you work.

Having Hopes and Dreams vs. not have any at adjectives? (career-wise)?

Question:
Man, people of late post questions vanished and right in the polls...so I'm posting this again for a better response.

Are have hopes and dreams about your adjectives (career-wise) supposed to be a given? What happens when a being doesn't know what they want to do with their duration...is there any adjectives at all for them or are they purely here on earth sucking up extra oxygen?

Answer:
It seem more and more common that we don't know what we want to do career-wise. It's a issue of finding something you enjoy. I really relish playing Nintendo, so I'm working towards a career beside Nintendo.
Hi HLA,

Don't be silly - many citizens don't know what they want to do with their lives! I be set to, yes, we expect little kids to have an answer right stale the top of their heads - I still want to be a Fire Truck, but haven't figure out how! <grin>

So, most of us want to find work we enjoy, are biddable at, positively impact our world and others, and can live comfortably lives doing. What does that mean?

Well - it totally depends on the character, their skills, and experience. And, it can change. Most individuals, these days, shift careers 4-6 times (not job, CAREERS)

So, if you don't know yet "what you want to be when you grow up" don't verbs! You aren't alone! You will find something that suits you - it may take some time, but to be exact okay too. Learn what you can in the meantime & do the best you can at what you are doing.

Best of luck!
happen to me and feels similar to I seriously thought about lots things but I am still in the state of indicision.

Does anyone know if this is lawful?

Question:
I was terminated by an employer within the state of Florida because I had be injured in a motor accident and after 5 weeks have not been released to full duty. I be employed with this company for 10 months, and be treated very disappointingly during this time including a very sexist verbs. I would like to know if this is officially recognized.

Answer:
Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) is a federal commission in place for you rights:
You involve to give this website as look: http://www.eeoc.gov/

Adverse Action
An adverse behaviour is an action taken to try to keep hold of someone from opposing a discriminatory practice, or from participating within an employment discrimination proceeding. Examples of adverse engagements include:

employment actions such as termination, refusal to hire, and denial of promotion,
other schedule affecting employment such as threats, unjustified negative evaluations, unjustified unenthusiastic references, or increased surveillance, and
any other motion such as an assault or unfounded civil or criminal charges that are imagined to deter reasonable nation from pursuing their rights.
Adverse actions do not include petty slights and annoyances, such as stray gloomy comments in an otherwise positive or colourless evaluation, "snubbing" a colleague, or negative comments that are valid by an employee's poor work performance or history.

Even if the prior protected buzz alleged wrongdoing by a different employer, retaliatory adverse actions are unlawful. For example, it is unlawful for a worker's current employer to retaliate against him for pursuing an EEO charge against a former employer.

**Definitely follow up on this one, I estimate you may have a valise to present. These folks are here for you to use.
sounds legal (except for that verbs thing)
um...no. I'd look into an investigation. It sounds to me like your former employer violated equal opportunity
yes, you should quit....
Get an attorney that specializes within employee related issues. I cannot answer because respectively state has law.
I'm no attorney, but it might do you some good to try to take a free consultation with one,
I hope you can sue them, sounds similar to they really screwed you.
Not sure just what you close-fisted about the sexist verbs - an employer is not allowed to treat population differently because of their gender.

The termination would be trial, though. Pretty much all states are what's call employment at will, which means that an employer can cancel an employee for any motivation or no reason, as long as it isn't because of their bias in a protected class (something resembling gender or race).

There is a federal regulation, Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) that can protect people by guaranteeing up to 12 weeks (unpaid) give up for medical emergencies for themselves or people members. This would override the employment at will. But among other rules, you own to be employed by that employer for at least 12 months to qualify, so you wouldn't be covered by that.

I hope you're recovered very soon from your accident, and are resourcefully on your way to have a much better job....

Question around your boss...?

Question:
Does your boss ever give you unexpected feedback over and over and you really don't know what they mean by it? Mine is that I necessitate to communicate more. But I already am friends with everyone contained by my office, we chat and put away together and what not, and I always tolerate him know if I run into problems with my work, so what does he want me to do?

Does anyone elses's boss report them stuff like this where on earth you just nod and ponder "...?"

thx! :)

Answer:
Dont wory about it,its a combination of trying to be helpfull and have nothing better to do.
My boss give me feedback from last year, but he doubled my earnings. I guess its okey.
So ... maybe you necessitate to communicate with your boss more?

Ask if you should be sending updates on the projects you are working on every week. Often, a boss know someone is working, but doesn't know on what - or what the status of a project is - not just problems, but when do you reckon something will be done and things like that?

Sometimes, a weekly email update will maintain your boss in the loop so they know what you are doing!
possibly he wants to vote your going to work on this project and lettign him know verbally when their completed. i have a review 2 days ago, they said i need to wage more attention to detail, whihc i do but i guess more!

Have you done stopgap work for any of the agencies surrounded by London?

Question:
if so how did you like temping, what be the downfalls, and what are the best agencies.

Answer:
I've worked for several temping agencies in London, although I presently work in a severe job.

I found that temping be a good road to gain experience within different companies/industries, but it could be tough sometimes. If you are temping contained by central london you do return with good rates of foot, but I found the travelling very tiring. Another problem can be the attitude of some companies. I worked for some great ones, but other ones don't treat you near that much respect & of course you aren't going to return with the employee benefits that you would if you be a permanent associate of staff.

Having said this I would recommend temping if you want to gain some experience but not be tied down to one company. I found when I was temping surrounded by London I was never short of contracts, and a majority be 3 month rather than basically a week here or there. You also enjoy to bear contained by mind being salaried weekly in arrears can formulate paying bills etc a little difficult sometimes.

Follow up ring?

Question:
I dropped off a resume final Monday at a doctors office and he seem very interested within me. The thing is, is he said he will distribute me a call inside a couple weeks, being he have to look over some other resumes as well. The q is should I phone up him today out of curiosity and do a follow up, or just sit and linger to see if he call me?

Answer:
I would 100% read out call him asap. Last time I looked for a employment, it took 6 months because I didn't know how to be agressive. This time, I got a brief in 3 weeks because I be so agressive. I called, I emailed, I sent thank you proceedings.

You need to stay higher than them because how are they going to remember you otherwise? You might call and you might find bumped to the top of the list because you are proactive. Trust me on this-my husband does sale and he coached me through (even though I was nervous) and I am so glad I did. We moved to a completely different state and I be able to get hold of a job surrounded by 3 weeks. Pretty incredible. Make it your full time job to find a mission.
Do the half path thing - distribute a note (either an email or a handwritten one will really breed you stand out)

You can drop off the written one contained by person - but dress other if you do.

In the note, thank them for their interest contained by you as a candidate, reaffirm that you are particularly interested in this position (sort of close to a mini-cover letter - touch on two or three strengths you hold that fit the position) and ask how far along in the screening process they are? Include that you are available to interview and sign off.

This is probably a better entry than a phone call - since you will solely get the receptionist if you call upon who may or may not pass along a message. Also, if you do whip the time to write a note, it shows that you are awfully serious about this opportunity.

(You may know how to find example letters on the big opening boards - just modify a "Thank you for the Interview" dispatch to make it appropriate)

Best of luck!

How do you write an outstanding target statement on a resume?

Question:
This is the area where on earth I'm always stumped! How do you write a strong aspiration statement for a resume that will get the screening person's attention, especially when they receive 100-300 resumes?

Answer:
The best point? Write a new, focused purpose statement for each position that you REALLY are interested within. Fit this to the EXACT job you want. (Read the employment description carefully and fit your skills & experience to THIS position.)

It is compassionate of like making a inventive cover letter - it shows exactly how you fit this ONE charge.

Yes, it's a lot more work, but I can let somebody know you that saying that you are looking for a confrontational stable environment with the opportunity to grow and kind an impact - is NOT likely to be read adjectives the way through by a recruiter. Many recruiters will update you for your "generic" resume (like posted online) skip the objective completely - they regularly don't read them.

Best of luck!
There are some sites like Monster.com that have samples. Do a resume G00GLE check out and you'll see 100's of sites. The only other 2 choices I can have an idea that of would be to get a book on resume writing or enjoy a pro do one for you. Good luck on job hunting.

Interview traveling interrogate?

Question:
Will you spend $1000 to go for a interview which contained by that u and othere 3-5 peopel are going for it

Answer:
No, I would not spend money to travel to an interview. That sounds very suspicious. Companies should foot for you to travel to an interview. And they told you that 3 - 5 other people are also spending their own money to travel? What if you get hold of there and find out it's one of those pyramid scam? (Like Amway or other pyramid sales schemes) You'll really be angry afterwards. I've been tricked into those on three occassions. I be told it was an bureau manager/H.R. rep. job, I catch there and they want me to trade water purification unit. Another time it was told that the commission was an assistant to the President, again near a different company selling water purification unit.

Is the job located within another city/state that you will be moving to? Did they tell you up front they will not pay envelope to relocate you?
No - if they are interested in you they will rate the travel expenses.
Yes... if you think you hold a chance of getting it. Plus it will show you are REALLY interest.
ONLY if Im really interested ( resembling would have to be my DREAM job) AND they will reimburse my expenses!
No, they should pay cheque for you to come out.
So, would the company help salary relo? Sounds to me like it isn't such a great company if they won't discharge for you to come for an onsite interview. Unless you were already planning on relocating out nearby, I don't think I would want to do it.

Best of luck.
