Work surrounded by China - earnings grill?

Question:
Hey guys, I’m going to work in China starting this summer for going on for a year, year and a half and I considered necessary to ask you a question nearly the salary that they are going to be paying me in that. It’s $550 a month in Shanghai and $500 a month within Beijing – is that enough?? Assuming that they will pay envelope for housing.

FYI: The salary is around the same for few different types of work and few different companies (marketing, nouns, teaching..). Also, the complete thing is considered an internship, so I’m not expecting to in fact “make money” there…I just want to enjoy enough to live comfortably.

Answer:
You cannot live "comfortably" (by Western standards) on $500-$550 per month contained by Beijing and Shanghai. You need at LEAST twice that amount. Assuming they provide housing, next to that paultry sum you will still need to "move about local" - eat noodles every morning and shop in the outdoor vegetable market. Starbucks coffee will be a luxury you will not be able to soak up very repeatedly. You'd better put aside at least $500 extra per month you're planning to stay near to live "comfortably".

Do some searches online for "PPP" (purchasing power parity) and research Shanghai and Beijing PPP vis-a-vis the U.S. and you'll know what you're surrounded by for. Shanghai and Beijing are China's richest cities.

Anyone here work at their local public library?

Question:
im a teenager and i wanna work within my public library and i wanna know 1) what kinda stuff do you do there 2) do you want any experience for ur first time 3) is it hard? 4) do you ever gain annoying customers who like complain everytime and how do u treaty with it?

Answer:
I work for a public library and know for a certainty that for teenagers the jobs are controlled (in my particular library). The simply teens I have see hired are for shelving positions. All other positions (ie: desk assistants who check people's books out among other things, and obviously librarians) require experience and/or a level. I think depending on where on earth you live working at your library compared to say working at the local speedy food joint is a much better position. Not only will it look better when you are applying for job later on, but also the actual experience you seize. I don't think it is "hard" to shelve books or any of the other tasks we do and although you do take the occasional annoying customer who complain about fines or something petty, typically library patrons are "regulars" and you will eventually return with to know a lot of them.(which is nice!) Here are some of the typical things a shelver or desk assistant does at my library: check books surrounded by and out, unpack delivery (books from other libraries that general public have requested), repair books and shelve books. Hope this help answer your question!
umm, i dunno, but i be in motion there alot. I guess you'd probably work near the computer, catergorizing stuff and using the checkout. Also, helping people find books and book the computers for appointments.
There are like mad of jobs at the library. What you, as a youngster, would do would depend on your abilities. You might a moment ago end up shelving books, but you could cease up running the computer up front and checking people's books in and out. Most libraries will hire family with little experience, but it really depends on the library and what is available. The solely way to find out is to apply. It is not especially difficult, but it can get monotonous and dull. But what birth job doesn't? It is as apt of a job as any, so you may as resourcefully give it a shot if you are interested. It is accurate experience.

As far as dealing with annoying customers, it is alike as anywhere. Treat them with respect, and you will ultimately gain respect back. If not, later it is their problem, not yours. Ignore them and do your job, and at hand is nothing to verbs about. That said, I've run into profoundly fewer problem customers at the library than I did working at a grocery store or restaurant contained by my life.
I enjoy worked as a volunteer and as a paid library assistant.
You probably don't involve experence if you have appropriate references. There is greatly more to learn than what is open.
Shelving books and magazines, overdue notice, labeling or covering books is relatively easy but not exactly fulfilling. It is cooperative if you have some experience near computers so you can help patrons near finding or reserving a book,or using the internet.Of course you have annoying customers [ surrounded by every job!] Some are loud, blunt ,destructive, etc. You will learn how to switch problems in your situation. The worst one I ever had be a guy masturbating in the library; in that was an incident on the word where a guy looked himself surrounded by the bathroom with someone else's little girl.
no. sorry :) do you want to work at one. i dont cogitate you would get salaried though maybe you would i dunno. :p

Restaurant "passer" position...??

Question:
I was simply given a job as a "passer" contained by a restaurant, apparently I will be the person that make sure everything is there and garnish before the waitress take it out. I have worked surrounded by customer service for 7 years but not in a restaurant and im not really sure what to expect next to this position, does anyone have any insight??

Answer:
I haven't hear the phrase "passer" before, but it sounds resembling you are the guy putting the garnishes on and making sure the plates hold everything. In a kitchen people crawl in for different roles depending on how busy it is, so don't be surprised if you carry pulled to do different things yourself. I liked the kitchens, in that was greatly of commraderie and they accept you if you verbs your weight. If you are lethargic, heaven lend a hand you!
I would think that this position would own been explained contained by full before acknowledgment. I know the employer would be more than happy to explain your duties surrounded by order to prevent any misunderstanding once you enjoy started your job.

And as expected the usual questions just about experience. Good luck. Teller is a pretty good chore. Good hours, decent earnings, not to labor-intensive.
One they'll definately ask. "How do you deal near an irate customer?"
Great interviewers usually ask you about your know-how, skills, and abilities (KSA's). Think of ways to show respectively of those point. Also, it be useful if you use O*net. Go explore up O*Net on G00GLE...it tells you what a sure position requires, you can use that as an advantage by showing your employer what you own and how it relates to the job. O*Net is constructed by consultants, exactly what companies hires to evaluate their human resources.
1 . do you hold any money handling experience? 2.have you ever be convicted of a felony? 3.level of schooling 4.would you be willing to nick a lie detector check?5.how do you cope with stressful situations? 6.would you agree to a criminal circumstance check?7.basic math skills?8.ever be fired from a job and if so why?agree to a credit check (at lowest possible they do in ohio)9.agree to follow strict client confidentiality and sign a confidentiality agreement? it's a pretty tough interview, but basically try to be as relaxed and poised as possible and look the interviewer in the eyes. also a obedient tip, don't figit and squirm around, that can be taken as dishonesty or a lack of interest. try to dress other, but not night clubby. apposite luck friend i hope you get the assignment!!

Glasses or not?

Question:
Should I wear glasses to my interview? They are kinda boxy and black (I look moderately a bit like my avatar picture). But I look better near the glasses past its sell-by date as you can see my eyes and eyebrows better.

Answer:
Glasses make folks look more serious and studious. Unless you are going for a glamor job (TV anchor, model) it would be better to see than to variety a mistake.

I can relate to not wanting to wear glasses surrounded by a job interview. I call for glasses to read. To me its a sign of getting elder, so I usually just convey them. I went for this interview, the interviewer be not the person I be originally set to see so he gave me his card at the naissance. Only when I got home did I realize that short my glasses I have mis-read his name and have called he by the wrong describe all during the interview. Didn't gain the job.

Glassess or not, perfect luck.
1) Do you need them to see? Then wear them - it would be bleak form to walk into walls at the interview
2) Glasses endow with others the impression that you are intelligent - not a bleak impression to present in an interview. There own been several studies showing that people equate wearing eyeglasses near high intelligence.
3) The interviewer will be sitting across a desk from you, not across a football grazing land. S/he will be able to see your eyes and brows only just fine, trust me.

Best of luck in your interview.

What do you really cogitate roughly speaking walmart ??.........?

Question:
for the employees that worked for walmart or still working for walmart, what do you suggest ? is it worth it ? or you getting anywhere ? ,

Answer:
Wow! Don't even get me started. You really involve to see the documentary "Walmart: The High Cost of Low Price". It will shock you. Rent it - today!

The things that I think are most "evil" going on for Walmart are:

1.) They drive local businesses (a.k.a. your NEIGHBORS) out of business.
2.) They drive manufacturers out of business, by demanding stuff at such a low cost, that ends aren't met. (This almost happened to Vlassic Pickles... they couldn't afford to hold Walmart NOT carry their products, but be having to practically present Walmart the pickles for free.)
3.) Walmart goes to great length to keep Unions from forming within their stores, which allows them to treat their employees horribly, and not dispense any protection to their employees. They if truth be told have kit used to spy on their employees, so that anyone CONSIDERING forming a Union can be fired.
4.) Walmart offer healthcare benefits, but the benefits are so expensive, and the employees are remunerated so little, that at employee orientations, organization are given handouts about foodstamps, welfare, and government-paid low-income healthcare, and what they obligation to do to apply. In other words, they expect the taxpayers to pay for the employees' benefits, even though they are the richest corporation surrounded by the world.
5.) They tend to hire elderly and immigrants... family who have a strong time finding a job anywhere else, so that Walmart can attain away with paying them little and treating them poorly.
6.) The management actually subsidizes Walmarts.... within other words, town governments want a Walmart surrounded by their town limits so weakly that they actually PAY the Walmart up to 1.4 million dollars per year JUST to set up shop within the town. (Because that Walmart will bring in more tax revenue for the town.) In other words, your excise dollars are also being used to BRIBE Walmart into man in your town surrounded by the first place!!
7.) Workers are not allowed to hold overtime. Yet they are forced to stay late. Managers are qualified how to flub their hours in the system so they don't hold to be paid for them. There own been MANY lawsuits surrounded by the last few years where on earth old workforce have sought (and won) retribution for these "lost" hours.
8.) The Walmart factories are sweatshops. Factory workers are skilled to lie to inspectors something like how many hours they work and how much money they spawn. A jacket sold at Walmart costs the customer $30.00. It actually cost $1.00 to bring in, and of that $1.00, only a tiny fraction of a penny go to the factory-worker who made the jacket. Insane!
9.) Walmart uses the tactic of opening up contained by a new town, have prices drop SO LOW that all of the general public in town get hold of accustomed to shopping there, and adjectives the little businesses in town shut their doors. Once adjectives the little businesses are out of business, they jack their prices back up. Now adjectives people are FORCED to shop at Walmart because everything else is closed, but you're paying dearly for it.

I could turn on and on, but you really should watch the movie for yourself. It's exceedingly, very upsetting to me how that corporation has become more powerful than our command.

BOYCOTT! BOYCOTT! BOYCOTT!
what would I do without their cheap chinese crap. God Bless America
Never worked here, but shopped there tonight. When did they start letting associates return merchandise at night after the Customer Service desk is closed? They run through the checkout line holding up the other shoppers. A big refuse of time.
I have be a victim of at hand weird ways I consider walmart SUCKS.
What`s the difference working for WalMart or any other retail store ? Doubtful if ur going to work ur way up from stocking shelves to store checker, but it`s a job if u really want one.
You should take profit of their stock purchase option. This will parsimonious that you will own a part of Wal-Mart. Then attend the business meeting that all stock holders are entitled to do. This will put you principal and shoulders above 99% of the other employees, because the company's top dogs will see you within and see that you care in the region of Wal-Marts prosperity.
in general--it is a apposite place to work. But just similar to any other business, it all depends on the channel the store is run. I work at a supercenter--and we have some concrete IDIOTS for managers. I seize good money (Over 10.00 an hour) , I have well brought-up insurance, benefits are fine. Regular raises--either 40 cents or 55 cents an hour every year. Sick pay, Vacation pay--both ok. I am a cashier--and I can progress into the management program anytime. When i be hired, they took into account my former work record for 5 years, and give me a work credit in the form of highly developed starting pay. You can also verbs to another store if you need to move--or freshly want to work at another store. There is alot of badmouthing around the country about walmart, and i mull over if you examine it closely--it is store to store, as in you hold idiots running the store who don't know what they are doing or how to treat employees. Also--you will find that contained by any business. We have some idiot assistant managers--that is our biggest problem. Overall its not a bleak place to work.
