The comm classes I took contained by college always recommended disappearing the references stale of your resume. They do not belong there. So, save those on a separate sheet. If the company wants your reference, they will ask. Generally, I've found you put them on the application now anyway.
You can do one of two things to attempt to shorten it. You can inventory relevant careers for the undertaking you're applying for. If the dates do not meeting, don't worry.
List it resembling... Relevant Work Experience
You explain it to them first then when they sit you down for the interview. Just mention that they've probably notice the gaps, and that you've tailored your resume to job of similiar experience. When you apply directly beside employers your resume can be 2 page. If the site confines you to one page just enumerate the most current information and most relevant to the job.

There is nothing wrong near a 2 page resume. If you do go to 2 page make sure the second page is pretty much packed up. Do this with formatting and editing content.
With that said you should really be using a targeted resume. Let's utter your work experience covers many industries and position types. You see a job announcement for an Accountant.
You would want to call attention to your experience in accounting and your computer skills. List merely accounting related employment chronologically and of course you training.
Then at the bottom of your resume you could have a box marked "Additional Employment" or "Additional Work Experience." Then you could chronicle jobs resembling normal, or by industry resembling "Food Service - 4 years; Executive Assistant - 2 years."
Or you could have at the bottom "see attached sheet for unrelated work experience."
Many ways to do it. The hiring supervisor is going to make a swift scan of everyone who applies resume. If your skills don't jump out right afterwards, right now you're done. If the proprietor has to wade through 30 years of work experience looking for accounting experience, boom you're done.
There should be a commission center near you, run by your state. Look up your state net page and locate employment services. They should be able to give a hand with a resume.
But you can really do it yourself. Neat, flowing to read, no mis-spelling, good language rules.
Only put the jobs on the resume that would require you to bring back the job you are going for.

Well technically, it's your word against his if you report it. But I believe that someone hating you is not a apposite cause for firing, you can dance to the labor board of your state and report it. My former boss hated the reality that I chose to return to school for something that did not pertain to the profession, and while they couldn't fire me for it, they can make your energy so miserable that you will quit. I can't prove it, but that's what I believe happened.
