I have "volunteered" my service to our small town tabloid so that I can call myself a photojournalist to bind some of the associations. And I've learned alot from the work and the associations.

Additionally, I would start building a portfolio. (these are of late few ideas) The key is to research your prospective employer(s), see what they are looking for or hold used in yesteryear.

LPN or RN?

I am currently trying to decide whether to procure my LPN or RN. I just moved to Sarasota, FL and the community college here have a waiting list for the RN program...so roughly the soonest I would be able to inaugurate the program would be Fall 2008 even though I have already completed ALL of the prerequisite classes at another community college surrounded by Jacksonville. The technical institution here offers a one year LPN program which I could start contained by August this year...plus they have darkness classes which is VERY important since I enjoy a two year old and no own flesh and blood here to care for her.and daycare is sooo expensive when you single have one income. I'm of late confused because I have hear that it's not worth it to get your LPN next go on to RN because RNs clear so much more. Also since I have taken the time to run ALL the prereqs for the RN program, it's kind of annoying to hold to wait over a year to start it. I know any way that my purpose is to be a RN, I just can't wish which route to take.

RN for 17 years. My counsel would be to go for the LPN program in a minute, due to the situation with your 2 year feeble. It would give you a income that is not impossible, and it would give you experience surrounded by nursing. You don't have to bestow up your dream of being a RN. Many colleges own programs that are LPN to RN.
BTW, the waiting list for your school RN program is not unusual. A majority of nursing programs around the country have indistinguishable situation.

Go for your LPN first. Not simply will this help you financially it can and will afford you a leg up on entrance into a RN program. If you would be able to work even slice time before/during the RN program it will be amazing how much your practical experience will help.
I know plentiful Rn's that regret the career choice they made and starting out near an RN would have save them money and the ones who love it wish they have started out with the LPN for practical experience sake.
