I work within a Care Home as head senior. We enjoy 25 Adults between the ages of 70 and 98. They all enjoy mental health issues. But to answer your interview all contemplation jobs wether these are basically
elderly,
mental health,
research disabilities (adults or children)
disabled (adults or children)
nursing (adults or children) etc etc
require you to do some or alot of the following duties:-
1. Washing and dressing.
2. Light cooking and snacks (less they have a full time cook).
3. Bathing.
4. Toileting.
5. Light Cleaning duties.
6. Medication (If your qualified).
7. Report Writing.
8. Activites (in or outside the home).
9. Helping to bed and up within morning.
10. Communication (talking to them).
Some jobs require you to hold atleast some experience and yet others do not. My home body people beside or without experience but you ARE required to attend surrounded by house training.
I would say its NOT high-status to have any experience to work surrounded by a care home where on earth the residents are just elderly associates. However people near mental health issues it would aid. My job can be abit scarey for trial starters with no experience. This is because our residents (only a small few) can become aggressive and fundamentally challenging. Same next to working with Learning disabilities and some other effort jobs. I first started bad with a moment ago elderly and worked my way up to mental robustness. It just depends on what sort of entity you are.
As for pay respectively job is different and it adjectives depends on the place too. In my home:-
Normal Day Care Staff - lb5.80 ph - (per hour).
Senior Day Staff - lb6.50 ph.

Working in effort also requires you to be available to work weekends, bank holidays, christmas etc. These you will find usually income higher to work at the present time. In my home if i work a bank holiday i acquire paid lb14 ph. My average income each month is approx lb1600 more or smaller quantity depending how many hours i work. Also some homes settle up you every two weeks and some pay monthly.
