Besides setting all margins to 1", the most central criteria for setting up a professional resume besides relevant text, is "scanability." Here are some valuable tips:

1. Place just below your credentials header [your hame, address, phone, email address] any Conditional Warning Statement such as "Confidential Resume,"Do Not Contact Current Employer," etc.
2. Always fill-in an Objectives category [just below the Conditional Warning Statement] and make sure that he Objective will contribute to the profitability of your adjectives employer;
3. Select a mono-type font such as Helvetica, Arial, Courier or Times Roman; do not select any cursive handwriting styles which cannot scanned;
4. Keep font sizes in a range of 10 to 12 pts.;
5. Avoid styling manual with a reasonable alignment, keep it flushed not here;
6. Instead of using tabs to set up blocked schoolbook entries, generate a table and use the column and row settings accordingly;
7. Do not place an i.d. picture anywhere on the resume, this is a trunk taboo due to discrimination issues;
8. Do not place any pictographic text [saved as .gifs] onto the resume since it may be overlooked during the scan phase;

In conclusion, the above helpful hints be designed to allow ease of scan of your resume into PDF which can then be certificate captured for seach purposes by your potential employer. Failure to conform the resume to appropriate fonts and styles as outlined above will result within rejection of the resume simply due to the inability of the scanning device to properly index relevant resume entries.

Good luck!
If this is your first time, sort a mock-up. On a sheet of blank paper, write down these headline:
1. OBJECTIVE: What you hope to accomplish by obtaining this position (basically your goals).
2. QUALIFICATIONS or SKILLS: What are your personal assets? Think roughly speaking why an employer would want to hire you. It is okay to toot your own horn here. Some examples: ambitious, creative, knowledgeable -- or any special skills close to writing or welding or doesn`t matter what it is you do.
3. WORK EXPERIENCE: The most recent goes at the top, and work your route down the list. You requirement to put the dates that you are (or were) employed, the autograph of the company (in bold), what your title or position was, and any a short job description or duties that you perform.
4. EDUCATION: Where did you go to institution, again put the most recent at the top. If college, put what you majored in and also take home sure to acknowledge any special achievement. (ie -- If you have a high class point average, etc.) Make sure to include any special classes or workshops that might pertain to the position you are applying for. You do NOT need to stir past giant school -- don't put your Jr. High and elementary institution.
5. (This section is optional): AWARDS or RECOGNITION: If you enjoy done something outstanding, make it certain to your future employer. It could be anything from abiding someone's life to an award (ie - top salesperson, etc.)
6. REFERENCES: Find at least possible 3 people liable to say something nice nearly you in bag a prospective employer calls. It should be someone who have seen your talent or work ethic. Think of a teacher, a co-worker or bureaucrat from a previous job, or even a historic client who knows how you will run the extra mile. Make sure to call the reference to tell them they may be getting a call upon, this way the human being will be prepared in the bag a prospective employer phones them and they will already have planned what they will say-so about you.

Once you catch your mock-up written down, use a template on Word or another publishing program. It is okay to have your own style, but brand name sure your resume fits all on ONE page. Employers don't similar to the two page resumes. For brownie points, you should also prepare a short cover letter for respectively individual job you are applying for, especially if it is for a professional position. Also, simply another tip -- use nice paper but not frilly or fancy weekly. Keep it simple and clean.

Good luck and knock 'em unresponsive!

Unemployment?

Question:
my best friend was newly let budge from her job, she is moving within 2 months, so it is pointless for her to go looking for job, get hired and later quit all surrounded by 2 months, so we were looking for some instrument she can make money. Should she merely go on dismissal? she is moving to another state, so if she gets dismissal will she still get money until she finds a assignment there, or does it simply apply for the state she lives in immediately? also where does she move about to apply for it?

Answers:
Maybe she should consider applying with a temp. agency and see if she can procure some temp. work until she moves. She can file for dismissal and collect it as long as she is unemployed. She will obligation to inform them when she moves and see if that affects her benefits with them. Some states will constraint benefits or put a hold on benefits when you go to a different state.

Check on the internet for the local bureau of unemployment for your state and county. Most states you can folder a claim on-line now.
Unless she can catch a short-term job that pays all right over half of what her mature job rewarded per month, then simply take the dismissal for two months. After moving, she'll have to start over. Her antiquated state won't pay for you to live contained by a new state, and the trial state is more than likely going to require a minimum residency and a minimum work time within the new state to qualify for benefits. (although a send for to the unemployment department is best, within order to be sure). Better to hold a lower-paying job temporarily while she looks for a greater paying one. Starbucks is always hiring.

Most background checks involve checking for criminal history...So if you have one and they check, they will find it. Entry smooth jobs tend not to do circumstance checks, most will just call for any past employer that you list on your application, if that. Please assistance beside CV compilation?

Question:
I am 35 years old and enjoy been surrounded by the same undertaking fir over 5 years now. Before I be working at this place of employment i as at home bringing up my daughter who i now almost 15. s it a honest idea to make a payment this to a CV? and also please help next to CV compilation does anyone know of websites that can help beside this. I'm not to sure what to write up for the personal profile. I've seen a few but consult about overkill on yourself. Please aid.

Answers:
OK, I hope this answer helps, (I've tried to preserve it as simple as possible).

1) At the top of your CV, start with your dub, address, phone number and email address. Don't include your nationality, DOB etc at the top (this comes later)
2) Write a 5-7 splash introduction about yourself. Use this to showcase your switch selling points. For example, if you're applying for a job within marketing, use the profile to demonstrate what skills you have surrounding the marketing industry. Avoid sentences such as "tough working, good surrounded by a team, obedient working alone" as these are seen within 99% of CVs
3) Next, go onto any your employment details or academic achievement (whichever is most recent)
4) Use bullet points in your employment descriptions to sort it easier to read, and, where possible, create "Achievements". This is another great channel to showcasing your key skills
5) Next, include details on any relevant courses - especially if they relate to the industry you're interested within
6) For "Hobbies and Interests", only include these if you own any "different" hobbies or ones which specifically demonstrate your interest in marketing.
7) Personal details, such as DOB, residency, marital status, driving licence, should be the finishing section of your CV

Hope this help!

As someone else has already mentioned - within is no need to mention nearly your children. When it comes to personal details, all specifically needed is your name, address, phone number and email, together next to DOB, nationality, conjugal status and if you have a driving licence.

If you don't hold a driving licence and you're not married, then near is no need to include this information.
Most CV sites lately want to sell you a service so be aware.

I am an employer and know that some will hold it against you if you put in the region of your kids, if you want to email your CV to mikeo@aquaid.co.uk i will give you an honest feelings and advice and also distribute you mine and see if you like the format, I hold always get interviews off my CV

Good luck
Mike
http://www.alec.co.uk You'll find a few layouts here :-)
Keep it short and simple.

Give as much information as you possibly can short going overboard. The last piece any potential employer wants to do is read a CV which is four - five page long. Most of all be honest.

Good Luck
Keep your CV to 3 page or less. Any bigger and it won't achieve read. Tailor it to the job you're applying for but minus lying. If you've been a full time mum and the subsequent employer is money minded, emphasise that you can handle budget (household maintenance).

Keep it relevant, hold stuff off that may pass your age away (years school attended) if you presume age discrimination might be a problem. Let them know that you can muddle through but don't waffle.

Best of luck
I would have no problem surrounded by seeing you are a mother, no doubt consequently multi-tasking, budget handling, etc.

Be proud of all your skills remember the population reading the CV know nothing around you and therefore this is your break to impress to get that interview and purloin the next step.

1 entity that spoils CV's, applications etc. is spelling mistakes or grammar mistakes, if approaching me this is not one of your strong points, ask someone to check it who is.

Good Luck
You can check out http://www.gjobadvice.co.uk for the advice offered contained by the CV section.

How do I bring back a waitressing/bartender undertaking minus experience?

Question:
I need to engineer more money to help me draw from through college. I'm 19, blonde, cute, and I have big boobs and I hold personality and I know I could product a ton of money in bartending or waitressing and I know I'm hot satisfactory to get hired at some of the picky places around here, but I own no experience and I have to work around my husbands work diary. I don't know what to do

Answers:
I'm going to assume that you are old ample in your state to work at places that serve alcohol. Generally, you would hold to start as a waitress before you can move up to bartender, but the tips within places like that are pretty soaring. However, since tips are easier to get, they tend to receive applications from inhabitants who do have experience surrounded by waiting tables. Some of the more upscale fancy places require experience within order to even be considered. So you can try some of the places where on earth you live, but you might have to start at a smaller restaurant first, merely so you can gain experience first.
you generally any have to be a hostess or a barback first
You probably can't bartend at 19 within your state. Whether you can waitress in a restaurant which serves alcohol depends on your state tenet. In at least 2 states I know, if you're beneath 21, you can't work in this environment. And, this is the type of environment where your looks might kind a difference.

On the other hand, within are lots of waitressing opportunities for inexperienced babyish people within family restaurants. Tips are probably lower, but not other, especially if you can work breakfast and lunch.
Only to defend my bartender/waitress friends but your physical attributes hold nothing on skill, friendliness, and potential to sell. The upscale bar only want experienced society with class and sense. The others may supply you a chance if you want to cram.
If all you conjecture this field requires is physical make-up then try a place to be precise only looking for what you propose then adequate stayed. There are plenty of places who want cute, young, busty women.
I am have the same exact problem!
