Applying for a opening at Gamestop?
Question:
I've never worked before and I'm looking to receive my first job. I know other about video games, so I figure Gamestop would be a good choice. I printed out the application papers from their website and occupied them out, and I'm planning on applying tomorrow. My question is, how exactly do I dance about this? I know that's a pretty trivial cross-question, but I've never done this before so it seem a little awkward. Do I ask for a principal? Do I just mitt it to someone and leave? Someone who's applied within would be much help.
Answers:
Ask for a bureaucrat, you may have to set an appointment to sit down and gossip to him/her. Then again, they may not be hiring - so they will file the application for 6 months and possibly refer to it if they own a need.
Chances are pretty devout if you don't give it to the superior the person you do impart it to won't care and will throw it surrounded by the garbage.
How lots hours can an underaged hand work?
Question:
My co-worker is 15 or 16 and she works 6 hours a day, 7 days a week. I be wondering if that was endorsed.

In most states, this would not be legal unless this is a people owned business. (if she is only 15)
Yes. It's of late fine.
You can work them in sweat shops for as long as you want. Just build sure you don't get caught.
Depends on what your state law are.
it should be posted on a wall somewhere at work, I don't remember the exact hours, but not having it posted is unjust
Internship surrounded by financial service industry?
Question:
I am entering my junior year at Syracuse University where I am majoring within economics and minoring in nouns. Once I graduate, I hope to become a financial analyst. I currently have an internship at Northwestern Mutual as financial representative. I am looking at internships for subsequent year, preferably dealing with investments, surrounded by the Syracuse/Buffalo area. Any suggestions something like investment companies, internship programs or career guidance? (It doesn't necessarily have to be in Syracuse/Buffalo)
Answers:
hey skip, you need to come down to the city to go and get a real internship experience
Check out craigslist.com
The best piece that you could do right now is to try to receive onto http://www.doostang.com (it's invitation only, and have a lot of great brief postings, including internships -- think Facebook for professionals instead of college students).
Ask around, but your Career Services Center could most credible send you an invite.
I can instinctively vouch for this site (I used it to get my current internship near a small consulting company based contained by FL).
Just get on the site, upload your resume, and check for latest job postings nearly every week until your semester starts, then start checking 2-3 times respectively week.
Jobs at the Bulge Brackets will start to go contained by early November, so be equipped, get your resume and parcels of recommendation prepared, and try to track down some alums.
As far as looking for companies, most insurance companies own brokerage houses or investment groups (for example, MassMutual owns OppenheimerFunds and Babson Capital Management, among others). Try to see if the company that you're working for now have anything like this underneath its umbrella, and if so, ask your supervisor (or, really, anyone else that you work with) if they can introduce you to any of their contacts in the business unit that might be more related to your ultimate work goals. Basically, your subsequent two-three months should be spent building a network that you can exploit subsequent semester.
Good luck, and as long as you get creative satisfactory with your questioning, you shouldn't really have too various problems.
I'm really biddable beside recounting folks what they want to hear, any available job oppourtunities close to that?
Question:
I've got a knack for unfolding people exactly what they want to hear. Also, I'm competent to talk to someone for singular a few minutes able know how to read them like a book, know how to tell them adjectives types of stuff about them that they haven't even told me.
I'm a tremendously good family person and can go and get along with anyone, no situation what type of person they are.
Are nearby any types of jobs that these merits would be a good meeting with?
Answers:
Sales - you my friend, inevitability to be a salesman.
Not in retail - step with luxury items - things near hugh commissions, like yachts and estates. Why supply 10,000 pairs of shoes when you can sell in recent times one 20 carat diamond.
Other choices for you include the ministry, law, politics, mortuary sciences (no one requests to hear the mortician's true opinion of the deceased), foundation/ nouns, or gigolo - any career where on earth knowing what people want to hear, and recitation them exactly that, will provide either assistance to you or comfort to them, but not get within the way of ethical standards of the profession.
I'm not particular if public relations is the career for you. Public relations is roughly making people support what they would not otherwise believe. Your skill is amplifying beliefs family already have. However, to be exact a skill that can be learned, too.
i am like peas in a pod way although mine is im really devout at telling general public exactly what they NEED to hear :)
a good duty for you is a telemarketor or in public relations :)
Maybe you should run for president, they are other good at recitation people what they want to hear.
Politician.
You should run for president!
Or conceivably try a customer service job.
Lower your ethical standards and you'll be a shoe-in within Congress. Consider yourself elected.
If you want to stay in the private sector, sale is right up your ally.
Direct sales offer unlimited income potential, and it sounds like you would be great at that.

HELP! I want to quit my profession!?
Question:
I work at Freshlook; a clothing store.
My manager is a b**tch. I want to quit, but I be wondering if she is allowed to fire me for not wanting to show up or want to work extra day and if she's allowed to fire me because she doesn't similar to me for whatever apology (I am not a bad worker, I a moment ago don't like her and my attitude does not effect sale we make).
I also wanted to know what are the maximum hours an hand under the age of 18 can work surrounded by the state of Alaska, because she got this 15-16 year mature girl working for 6 hours a day, 7 days a week, so that would craft 42 hours total.
Lastly, I was wondering how I put contained by my 2 weeks notice. What am I suppose to do when I want to quit? And how will I progress about brining up a lawsuit against them if they do indeed fire me simply because they do not like me or I am not inclined to work extra days.
I appreciate all of your answers, and the best answers go to the most detailed and well-thought response. Thank you.
Answers:
Unfortunately Alaska is an "at will" state. This means you can be fired (or quit) at any time for any judgment or no reason. In most states refusal to work overtime is grounds for dismissal anyway.
You probably should grin and carry it and change job. The constant friction will eventually end up anyone a real cynical for you such as being fired and/or getting a unpromising reference.
Write a communication to your supervisor telling her that you will be going away in two weeks. While near is a strong urge to give your boss both barrels of what you infer, bite your tongue. Burning bridges often come posterior to bite you in the you know what.
Even if you live surrounded by Anchorage, it's a small town. And a bad rep get around quickly.
Grin and undergo it. Find a new livelihood.
Contact the nearest Alaska Department of Labor & Workforce Development Wage & Hour office concerning the young at heart employee. Generally speaking 16 is the cut-off for child labor law in Alaska.
you don't obligation to give two weeks dawdle till there fundamentally busy and need you and voice oh yeah guess what i quit i'll pick up my check next week
To put within your 2 weeks notice, do it contained by writing. As for firing you, "Alaska employers do not necessitate a reason to fire their workers, but if they do they are required to compensate that employee adjectives money owed within three working days." (http://blog.laborlawcenter.com/category/... )
You can probably also find information in the order of minor employees on that site.
If you are that depressed with the employment, then you should quit. You are mistaken if you estimate that your attitude does not affect sales. All you obligation to do is to tell your boss that you are putting contained by your 2 week notice, preferably within writing. Just be prepared to work very little during this time. People minus a written contract can be fired at any time, for pretty much anything. Forget about the lawsuit-- you will lose. If you want to acquire revenge, check the child labor laws contained by alaska, and turn them in if they are surrounded by fact surrounded by violation.

I deem Im going to institution for RN, how frozen is it?
Question:
How hard is it to progress through RN schooL?
Answers:
I'm a nursing student, and i just started my clinical rotations ultimate semester. The prerequisites are definitely the hardest chunk to get through. Biology isn't too impossible, Chemistry (depends on how good at math you are, for me, it sucked), Anatomy is horrible unless you spend ALOT of time studying and memorizing, Physiology is interesting so it's not so uncomfortable to have to study that sympathetic of stuff, and Microbiology is hell. You reallly have to study for that stuff. Once you go and get into the nursing classes, it's alot more hands on, and interesting. You will hold to do the reading to reinforce everything you learn, but so for I've found the clinical classes to be much easier. Goodluck and don't achieve discouraged! It's great money, and a very rewarding occupation!
i 've no idea
Nursing institution can be VERY challenging! Please be sure that you own the basics (core classes) lower than control. That will help you alot! Get used to memorizing things too!! LOTS of memorization involved contained by the anatomy and physiology courses. Also, brush up on all of your math skills you'll involve they when you get into pharmacology!!
Nursing is a VERY rewarding pasture to get into! Go for it and Good Luck!!
Oh geez, I'm going to arts school to be an RN too soon, tell me how it turns out!
*looks around next to shifty eyes*
Yes, I know I didn't actually answer the request for information...

You should call the local hospital and see if you can "shadow" a nurse for a hours of daylight. Or ask if you can talk to the nurse administrator...They will be the best to ask... But the one point I can say,,,,,,,, better be correct in math and science
lately get xray tech license, better and smaller amount time involved, great jobs, and hours. nurses work adjectives damn hours, its nuts
I've always be told the pre-requisites are the hardest part. Each college has their own set A&P, Microbiology, Organic and or biochemistry, and a duration span pyschology in count to general. Make sure your grades are up near 3.0 or better the programs are very competitive.
Accountants & accounting majors what's your self close to?
Question:
How are you socially?
What are your hobbies?
What type of humor do you like?
How are you emotionally?
What are your typical thought and behavior pattern?
Answers:
I'm very sociable. If you're an auditor, you own to be, cos you'll meet clients from adjectives levels (from CEOs to junior a/cg clerks) and you hold to be equally nice and diplomatic to everyone. I mix well beside other accountants and auditors too cos networking is markedly important contained by this profession.
My hobbies are bringing my Cairn Terrier to the beach and reading and rock music. I attended concerts by Scorpions, Steve Vai and Yngvie Malmsteen and I love GNR. So don't agree to people enlighten you accountants listen to only Cliff Richard! For movies, I similar to Merchant-Ivory "types", like Remains of the Day, Howard's End, Legends of the Fall, LOTR.
I approaching educated humour - joke and witticisms that require a person to be legally learned to capture. I hate slapstick.
Emotionally I'm stable, I close to helping others, but tend to be impatient. I don't suffer fools (but I'm working on it!). I'm logical (sometimes too logical) and not given to impulses. I'm the "lift charge" type. And I'm thrifty (after you've audited enough clients and know the true cost of their stuff, you find you don't want to fork out that much money for them!)
Socially, I am fine
Hobbies are to many to roll
I find most people are funny
Emotionally, I haven't cried lately.
Now, the big one 'my typical thought and behavior patterns'...this one is a bit more complex. Hmmm...in good health what a question. Okay, I will confess...I come up with about getting laid and be loved. And, I would speak that my behavoiral patterns are constant near that goal surrounded by mind.
Oh, did you mean does my errand makes discern different than any other human. I guess it does...I always tag on up the numbers of a female numeral and divide by expected exposure...to decide if I will discuss to them.
Are, you really that stupid...to think that accountants are any different than anyone else.

Suggestion for Resumes?Jobs?
Question:
If you are good beside resumes can you suggest me how to prepare a good looking resume? I own two masters degrees (MBA and MPA) from United States colleges and since I couldn't find a post I am returning back to my home country. Needed a work security unfortunately. This make me so upset. Does US companies evaluate resumes from out of country?
Please answer seriously.
Answers:
My suspicion is that your inability to find work in the US have nothing to do next to you resume or CV. Rather it has everything to do beside your visa status.
As you state, you do not have a work licence. If you were here on a student visa (F1), you can't really gain career type employment. And if you applied next to companies in the US, the firms who you applied beside probably couldn't or didn't want to get you a Specialty Occupation visa (H1B).
US companies do evaluate resumes from outside the US -- but it presupposes that you own a skill set that is not for sale from a domestic candidate. Remember: the cost of getting you a visa equates to increased hiring costs.
Because you don't submission the particulars of your personal situation, I can one and only offer you standard advice:
1. Tailor your resume to respectively job that you apply for. Remember that employer are risk adverse. They want someone who they can put into a position and get productivity almost directly. Assume that they lack imagination; be capable of explain how you are qualified for the job.
2. To demonstrate (1), when you mention work experience and internships, try to explain how that experience have prepared you for the job surrounded by question.
Don't loose adjectives hope. I have a friend. She's an assistant district attorney. She's Canadian.
Resumes should be concise and remarkably to the point! Pay special attention to focusing on a specific position if that is possible surrounded by your situation.
As far as whether or not US companies will review resumes from outside the US, yes they will. Typically they are looking for the best candidate for the position(s) they are looking to crawl. They don't pay profusely of attention to where the resumes are coming from. Be unshakable that you are eligible for a work visa, etc. This is very central now contained by the US!!

Besides setting all margins to 1", the most historic criteria for setting up a professional resume besides relevant text, is "scanability." Here are some courteous tips:
1. Place just below your passport header [your hame, address, phone, email address] any Conditional Warning Statement such as "Confidential Resume,"Do Not Contact Current Employer," etc.
2. Always fill-in an Objectives category [just below the Conditional Warning Statement] and make sure that he Objective will contribute to the profitability of your adjectives employer;
3. Select a mono-type font such as Helvetica, Arial, Courier or Times Roman; do not select any cursive handwriting styles which cannot scanned;
4. Keep font sizes inside a range of 10 to 12 pts.;
5. Avoid styling course book with a proper alignment, keep it flushed gone;
6. Instead of using tabs to set up blocked deed entries, generate a table and use the column and row settings accordingly;
7. Do not place an i.d. picture anywhere on the resume, this is a chief taboo due to discrimination issues;
8. Do not place any clear text [saved as .gifs] onto the resume since it may be overlooked during the scan phase;
9. List at the very appendage of the resume your interests which should include travel experiences, language skills, social interactions such as golf, troop sports, tennis, etc.
In conclusion, the above helpful hints be designed to allow ease of scan of your resume into PDF which can then be workbook captured for seach purposes by your potential employer. Failure to conform the resume to appropriate fonts and styles as outlined above will result within rejection of the resume simply due to the inability of the scanning device to properly index relevant resume entries.
Good luck!
Do they want me?..or are they mortal polite?
Question:
Today I finished my second interview at Starbucks, I thought it went economically. I followed through will all the tips, thankfulness guys! Afterwards the lady told me that she have to check my references and would achieve back to me? I kinda of get the impression like they would hold done that already but they are opening a hot mall next to a huge starbucks and may be a little astern, atleast thats my rationalization. Do you think I will bring back the job, or am I human being put on the back burner?
Thanks guys :)
Answers:
it sounds approaching theres alot going on at once and i bet the manager doesnt enjoy time to waste on pointless interviews. most times, reference arent checked on hourly jobs until the applicant have been screen. if you feel virtuous about the interviews consequently you probably did really well. but psyche start pressing other opportunities if you dont hear pay for from her by monday. good luck adjectives barista!
i think you will grasp hired, thats what it sounds like,
virtuous luck!!
AGHH. you so do not want to work at STARBUCKS.. they suck.. really bad.. i worked for them and they are so picky.. and want everything dun by timer.. even if your buzy... I loathed working for them.. ! i quit after 6 wks...! Just go look for another errand.. starbucks sucks
Nah, they are not gonna waste their time checking reference for people they hold not interviewed yet. Once , they acquire a good perception of who they wanna hire they check all the reference. I'd give it a few days(5 working days) and beckon them if they have not contacted you.
I've have employers describe that to me before and I done up getting the job. So while I wouldn't vote you're guaranteed to get the charge, don't count yourself out quite on the other hand.
I would look for something else, It sounds like you call it right and they were purely being polite. But if this is a strange store, they will probably hire twice as many team as they need. Alot of them will quit after a moment and you may be in second christen.
About my work?
Question:
The department that I work in is small. The department have 3 people who work surrounded by the morning and 4 people who work contained by the department at night. One human being on Friday quit and the second person that works at dark is thinking about retiring surrounded by September of this year. Here is my questions that I entail help next to.
1. I am thinking about going subsidise to college in the Spring of 2008. I am thinking roughly speaking going to college out of state. If my boss is still short of help by than can she hold me spinal column?
2. If I found a better job some where on earth else and is short of help can she hold me put a bet on?
Answers:
Most people supply 2 week notices as a courtesy but really most job you can just quit. No one can hold you. This is America you can do what you want.
What do you be a sign of by "hold you back?" You work for her, she doesn't own you. It's your energy, do what is best for you.
a boss cannot make you stay at a position, she may not be happy beside you leaving but she cannot produce you stay. If you have a valid defence to move on explain it to her at most minuscule 2 weeks in finance and hopefully she will understand and you will know how to part on virtuous terms but for then verbs anyways if it is in your best interest. Good luck.
As long as you make a contribution atleast 2 weeks notice you can't be held hindmost. You can work or not work anywhere you want to. You won't get to hold on to your benefits if you have any. But try to move on good expressions in crust you need a suggestion in the adjectives. If you are moving out of state I don't think they could blame you for going away. If she looses too many folks they might think she requirements to change her opening. Small offices enjoy random turnovers sometimes. Good luck to you.
What do you plan hold you back? That can't stop you from going to college. As long as the hours you work & the hours you go to academy don't overlap eachother, than everything should be fine.
If it was financially surrounded by their best interest to kick you out on the street beside one minute notice, do you reflect on that they would hesitate for a minute?
They own loyalty to you, don't fool yourself in to thinking you should enjoy any loyalty to them.
Colleges don't typically rely on recomendations from past or present employer, and neither do financial aid programs, so unless you're not an american citizen, there's nothing she can do.
If you find a better errand, it's more of a problem - a bad recomendation from a current employer can cost you an opportunity. It's best to be straight beside your boss after another job make an offer. If you've signed a non-compete agreement, or if you're not an american citizen, you've get trouble, and you need to see a advocate.
