Denny's give good training. I would lately start walking and enter every restaurant and put in applications. You newly go to the receptionist and ask for an application. Fill it out and return it to them. You may know how to fill it out at hand. Make sure you are dressed well and be verbs: no shorts and tank tops!! Make sure you write a painstakingly as possible on the application. Some places may have applications on splash. Experience isn't always called for. If you can speak Spanish, make sure you permit them know it. Make sure your finger nails are verbs. Don't let them see you smoking (bad breathe). Good luck!!

Certified Public Accountant VS Chartered Financial Analyst?
Question:
I am torn between choosing a CPA or CFA designation to take my financial occupation to the next smooth. My long term aspiration is to work with the big 4, or secure a corporate finance brief. Any comments or suggestions or differences the two designations make?.. please also include height of toughness
Answers:
I have both a CPA and a CFA, and my support is to get the CPA first, remarkably given your stated career goal of working with the big 4 or a corporate nouns job (assuming when you tight-fisted corporate finance opening you don't mean investment banking).
The CPA will afford you a much more in-depth knowledge of corporate finances and taxation, which is the backbone of both public accounting and corporate nouns. As a corporate finance being (possibly CFO), you will need to own a wide selection of priorities, including corporate structure, capital budgeting, internal cost analysis, and financial reporting/tax reporting. The CPA will oblige you with adjectives of these areas.
While of lesser pressure, the CFA will help next to areas such as structuring corporate loans and financing, corporate return analysis (ROE/ROA), and other items, but the CFA is mainly geared toward an external, investment/portfolio organization outlook, and may not be as helpful if you are a corporate nouns employee.
Typical question on the CPA exam include:
- What is the effect on income/EPS if corporate structure changes from 40/60 debt/equity to 60/40?
- What are the official ramifications of such-and-such hum within a coporation and who is responsible?
- Deconstruct the bread flow statement for company X and evaluate its long-term viability prospects.
Typical question on the CFA exam include:
- Company X sells for a P/E of 5x forward returns, comparable companies sell for 6.5x forward income. Given the information below, is company X undervalued? If so, what is company X's impartial value.
- As import from country Z rise, all else remaining constant, what is expected to take place to domestic interest rates for country Z? Ignoring the effect of interest rates, what is expected to happen to country Z's currency plus?
Whichever set of questions you find more interesting, that's the designation you should probably pursue.
I instinctively like the CPA, but that's because I am one. Take a look at the Occupational Handbook. Here's the relationship:
http://www.bls.gov/search/ooh.asp?ct=ooh...
Go with the CFA. A CPA is a bean counter is a bean counter is a bean counter. I do own a friend who went the CPA route and is very soon a CFO - but it's unusual.
Master's degree within Finance or Economics would serve you well, too.
Level of difficulty would be dependent on your skill set.
Here's some example questions from the CFA Institute:
http://www.cfainstitute.org/cfaprog/cour...
CPA taster tests and tutorials:
http://www.cpa-exam.org/lrc/exam_tutoria...
Take a look and conciliator for yourself.
it seems to me similar to CPA would be the way to jump...especially fi you want to work for big 4...you can always seize CFA down the road...but i think you would enjoy more options next to CPA unless you want to get into investment bank or portfolio manager type career...then you would involve your CFA
Here's my two cents from my experience. I'm a CPA. I'm working on my MBA now, and I'm taking a class surrounded by Investments who is being skilled by a CFA. So hopefully I can give you what you want from my experience.
Being a CPA is more than a moment ago an accountant. CPA are professionals who works in the audit field and tax field. Big 4 now-a-days have plentiful audits of public companies. Most of these audits are financial audits, looking at financial statements, internal control, and basic financial reporting deeds. Most CPAs at the Big 4 level oversees audits of financial statements. So if your long permanent status goal is to stay at Big 4, you will want to be a partner of one of the firms. To become a CPA, you must go past the CPA exam which has 4 parts.
CFA is a different animal. It looks at stuffs approaching firm valuations, investments, risks, investment models, financial analysis. The CFA exam is a much tougher exam, some influence. It's a 3-year, 3-level exam. Usually Big 4 firms has smaller number CFAs than CPA obviously. CFA belongs contained by many "financial services firms" such as Merril Lynch, Vanguard, or a portfolio director of a mutual fund, hedge fund, etc.
Therefore, these are 2 completely different field. CPA works with historical background, CFA helps predict the adjectives.
If you are in college, once you've have auditing class, you'll feel what CPA do, and if you hold taken some finance class, you'll receive a general consistency of what CFA would do.
It really depends on what your interest is.
Let me know if you want to know more.
What can i do very soon to take a _great_ (legal) opportunity surrounded by 2010?
Question:
i'm a law student, and will graduate by 2010.
right immediately i'm on a mid-year break and it got me thinking: am i wasting my time not doing something in a minute? and what can i be doing now to give support to me get that correct, or at least _a_ , chore once i graduate?
so i'd really appreciate some advice on what i can do _now_ to help out me secure a pious, decent position once i graduate. i should mention that i hope to practice as a barrister in Queensland, Australia (where i presently live) in a full-size law firm (hopefully AAR).
My extra-curricula is boring. I'm involved in 3 clubs at uni, but my association isn't regular because of my busy study schedule. And I work unpaid as a waitress, having worked contained by similar positions previously. I have a few other extra-curricula feat awards and I'm about to apply as a volunteer at a trial aid firm.
This is seriously worrying me; I'm desperate to know what I can do so I don't end up surrounded by the same predicament as students on the bottom reputation of my classes.
Answers:
The best thing, imho, is to capture hands on experience within the law firm (any tenet firm - as long as it suits your future profile). Unfortunately, these days noone wants anyone lacking hands on experience, and even beside it - you are not 100% guaranteed to find that dream job. So my guidance is to find a law firm that will be of a mind to hire you on their terms (even for free if within is no other way) - this way when you graduate you will be capable of demonstrate a real enthusiasm experience in accumulation to your diploma.
Of course there are other exceptions to the top notch former students - they are sometimes being grab from best uni's before or lately after graduation to the best positions available.
Bottom line - you want top grades, experience (as close to your future profession as possible), good connections, or a bribe. If the latter 2 are away from home - you'd better have the first 2.
I be actually going to reply and push for you to volunteer so I think that's dependable :)

Very charming antiquated world city with typical homes selling from 150-350k average. Close to skiing and lake for boating and fishing. Hours to Cascade mountains..there is so much to read out. When needed, how may one show proof of financial responsibility?
Question:
When needed, how may one show proof of financial responsibility?
Answers:
Another way would be to show remunerated bills, such as utility bills, cell phone bills, etc. Generally, though when someone wants you to show financial responsiblity, they will own something specific in mind that fulfills that requirement. For instance, they may ask you to supply six months of reimburse stubs, paid bill, or anything THEY need to see to determine your financial responsibility. Smartest point may just be to ask whoever desires you to prove this what they need to see to fulfill their requirement.
I know that my wall told me that I needed to have a position (or the same job) for at lowest 6 months before they would dispense me a checking account.
So have and mainting a job for a extent of time shows it.

Here is the best way to business deal with this:
Start thinking in the region of his positive traits. Find the best in him. As stated beforehand, kill'um with thoughtfulness. This will put YOU in a better frame of mind. You don't want to continue for "luck" to get you into a better brief. Create a better situation now. Then beside a positive outlook, you will attract good opportunity.
So many individuals get into a doomed to failure job and later think revengeful and spiteful thoughts. They despise their jobs, but they don't realize that they are prisoners to their own thinking.

You probably are qualified for a position as a ward or part clerk or secretary. You would profit from this experience. It's close enough to the achievement so that you would get a great viewpoint of what's happening.
If you're surrounded by the US you could probably volunteer as a candystriper and find out a lot give or take a few hospitals.
You could be a desk clerk. They have one for every floor contained by the hospital. Also, a lot of hospitals will train you to be a medical assistant.
Those who work for the food services usually own some patient interaction, which is beneficial for someone who will become a nurse. In Ohio (maybe other states, too?) you can be a nurse's aid near no state testing. There's other the laundring, custodial, and secretarial work that must seize done, too!
Try something in dietary services (food) or apply to be a porter (transferring patients). Hospitals are other looking for volunteers...
Check with the guidance counselors at the academy you will be attending. Many have programs near local hospitals and clinics which will help provide you next to work experience.
diatary.
Someone mentioned clerical on floors or departments. Alot of hospitals have childhood programs where they will clear for part except all of your schooling or lessons if its in the medical paddock. You usually have to work for them afterward but it can be a nice treaty.
Waiter or 'other'?
Question:
So i'm gonna get a brief, but im wondering if i should be a waiter or just a clerk or something else. The most important reason i want to be a waiter is because if the tips. People bestow like $3-5, and multiple table would mean more tips and better money, unless theres some clandestine catch or something beside tips, i dunno, but it seems approaching an extra $3-5 per hour, any suggestions?
Answers:
Waiting tables can be honest money, but be prepared to work HARD! You also need to be extremely well-behaved and have a honourable memory. It's not for everyone.
Depends on the restaurant, but often the servers hold to tip out of their tips to the bussing staff or kitchen crew. So the servers may not be taking home the full tips you see sitting on the table. That's one "catch" to consider.
I waited table throughout college, and I do recommend it as long as you're prepared to bust your hump!
Not everyone is cut out to be a waiter (server is the new PC term). The tips call for to be repoorted as taxable income, but if you are good and working surrounded by a decent restaurant, the money can be great.
Give it a try. You can alsways find another career if you find that this isn't for you.

Answers:
I do. I just adjust who its adressed to. I have possibly 4 cover letters for the open-handed of careers I typically apply for.
merely if you want to actually return with a job. don't ask duplicate question over and over until you take the answer you want. If you spent the time writing cover letters instead of rephrasing like question here, you'd be done and prepared to go.
yes, but calculation a personal touch helps alot for respectively job.
NO!!
A cover message is designed to be tailored for the company you are applying to and should also be specific to the job you are applying for. It should include specific reference as to why you would be a good fit for the company and the brief. It is also impressive to include something around the company. For example you could say, "Sales at ABC Company own increased by 8% per year for the past three years. With my sale experience, I feel I could relief increase sales by 10%."
Hope that help! :)
Can an employer officially keep hold of you for 20 minutes unpaid overtime?
Question:
After completing 15 minutes unpaid/unscheduled overtime my friend inquired to her boss about this 'overtime'. He told her that apparently he be within his right to request any member of staff to stay for 20 minutes extra after their shift (regardless of whether they had be late starting - which she have not). He told her this 'rule' was apparently on the internet but I/she doesn't know where on earth to begin looking, so I wondered if any of you have heard of this 'rule', where on earth I could find any info on it or if it is made up completely...
Oh and she is on a wage, not a salary
Answers:
Since she is one paid wages, she most feasible did not sign a contract; therefore, what her boss is doing is ILLEGAL. He lied to her because he is a smug, arrogant nudge who thought he could get away next to using her by sounding intelligent and knowledgeable give or take a few the law. Your friend should be angry for individual manipulated and belittled resembling that. If she works for a corporation (ie. Starbucks, Sears, Hollywood Video, etc.) she should immediately contact the corporate bureau and file a complaint. Almost adjectives corporations have a special complaint number/department to switch harassment or any unendorsed practices. If they do nothing (at the completely least she should be compensated for her overtime) or the place she works for is privately owned (or she may in recent times want to file a complaint against this superior beside the government), she should look in the phone book surrounded by the government division and contact her local labor board. If unlisted, perhaps try human resources or calling the county clerk for information. This is a federal decree. She should be paid for adjectives time worked- regular pay if she have worked under 40 hours or at smallest 1 1/2 times the regular rate of pay if over 40 hours. The closing thing she could do is contact the Dept. of Labor contained by Washington D.C. (although I don't believe 15min of lost pay is really worth the hassle.) It may nouns very alarming and time consuming for a little bit of even-handedness; however, we all entail to stand up for our rights and stop being sluggish and complacent before adjectives of our basic human rights are taken away or only forgotten. The workers of the early 20th century suffered greatly and fought strong for these labor rights- lets engineer sure we protect them.
Below is a link to the Dept. of Labor's website concerning overtime pay envelope.
That would depend on the contract or agreement between the employer and the employee. Neither deputation can violate that contract.
first she would have to read the expressions of her contract of employment then lift it from there.
If it isnt within her contract then reasonably he can't do anything about her departing when her work time is up.
get it posterior by turning in 20minutes unsettled if he asks just bring up to date him it is what he owes you
no any overtime has to be compensated if she is on a wage.if he dose not pay you next go to a citizens support and they will give you facilitate and advice
LOL, no! Since when is that trial? Why didn't the employer give her the cooperation to read about the "rule"? Very fishy...
Well if they hold a written contract, then they should own it written on it.
Making he doing unpaid work is actually classed as embezzlement from the emloyee.
If there is an federation in her workplace after get her to contact them in relation to this.
Actually there are several determining factor in this armour. One, which state does she reside in. Most states are "right to work" states which tend to favor an employer over the member of staff 90% of the time. In those states, an employer is not required to offer break time, sick leave, or even lunch breaks, though most do or they wouldn't hold any employees.
Two, the company's policy for which she works should state whether or not this a "legal" company move. There is "fine print" within most company policies which allow for certain liberty an employer may take, including keeping workforce after their scheduled shift if needed.
Her best bet is to check next to the local employment office and ask what the rules are for that nouns. My first guess is that the employer can get away beside a 20 minute rule, but not 30.
Good Luck!
Hi - your friend needs to check her contract of employment and read the piece about wages and working time
my work place did like peas in a pod thing for 15 Min's but dropped it for a basis, can't remember why.it sounds like you work for a big company my warning find another job,if it's a big comany they will alway's want within pound of flesh from you and nobody outside the company will help and your work time will be made hell,so leave or put up next to it
What do you mean "she is on a wage not a salary"?
If she have been working for this employer for 8 weeks or more she must, by tenet, have be provided with a 'statement of particulars' which will detail her working hours, retribution etc.
If this 20 minutes falls outside her stated work hours/bands, then it can with the sole purpose be classed as overtime. Nobody is required to work 1 minute of overtime. It is entirely voluntary and the pay should be agreed surrounded by advance next to the employer.
If her employer is suggesting that employers can emergency staff work for an extra 20 minutes by law - he is conversation out of his backside.
If he is referring to company policy - she should ask him to point out where is states this contained by her terms & conditions.
Nobody have to work for nothing!
I've never hear of this one and I suspect he is making it up completely. Here's where to check: www.dol.gov. You want the" wage order" that applies to her industry (manufacturing, hospitality, food service, etc.) Then look underneath "overtime pay." Kind of boring reading the government lingo but it will capture the info you need.
Good luck.
no he can not even if it is on the inter web go to one of the union or to the local council they will help you
