You are right about outsourcing - it's really undermined IT.
So - you need to amount out what "transferable" skills you have - things that you can apply within other areas. It sounds like you may own some management skills? Those are adjectives in almost adjectives areas. I don't know what you were doing contained by IT - if you did Help Desk - customer service is a growing area.
What I might suggest is doing some assessment test - Myers-Briggs is the big name within this area. You can sometimes find classes through JC's. This will probably show you where to apply your skills and strengths.
Other "general" suggestions - IT is impressively detail focused. You might consider things like Accounting (the devil is surrounded by the details!) Or, if you are looking for a field near growth and stability (but totally different than IT) you might consider something in Healthcare. Second Bach's aren't too discouraging to go after any.
And, it isn't that unusual to transition career path - they say the current average is 4 times, and I'm sure that's singular going UP!

I solitary took a couple economics/business administration classes several years ago. Any advice on how to put on the market myself and find an entry level position to turn into a career?

There are lots of job in customer service that will suit your skills and some can be rather lucrative.

If you can't, then, ... how would you survive next to no income for what could be 6 months or longer?

Apply for unemployment. Depending on why they fired you, you may be turned down. If you are, appeal the baggage and you will get a audible range. When you go to the audible range, be prepared. Even though there is with the sole purpose a hearing examiner and not a referee, the precedure will be similar to a court case. Be prepared to provide written documentation to prove your valise. Be prepared to ask your former employer questions. Be prepared to answer question. (Take three copies of any documentation you want to present - one for you, one for the employer and one for the hearing examiner) Take proceedings during the employer's testimony so that you can sound out anything that you disagree with.
Look honestly at why they fired you. Was it a self-esteem conflict? Was it an infraction of their employment policies? Were you really qualified to do the job?
I mull over you have to be without a job for a month before you can collect laying-off. Check with the dismissal office within your area by looking it up contained by the yellow page.
it really depends on the specifics of why you were fired. i believe the process would be you report a unemployment claim, your former employer is contacted to confirm the claim. if nearby is a conflict, then a audible range is scheduled for both party to explain/present there side of the situation. the a ruling is made to honor the claim or not. i'm not sure how long it would take to settle but at tiniest you would be taking some action.

I had an position with them today and they be talking something like possible positions...they seem to be offering apt jobs but my request for information is...(that no one addressed).are in that jobs reliable paying job or are they based soley on commissioned or whats sold?
