If your only qualification is EMT-B, I don't know if that increases your probability of employment or not. It looks like (in Kentucky) at most minuscule, that they can either hire an EMT-B or train some miners surrounded by a first responder course (which only take 40 hours). I'm guessing that most will just choose to train in-house, so they can train the miner contained by exactly what they need for coal mine operation.

I also looked at some underground mines in Canada, but they required paramedic-level personnel.

Your best bet would be to contact the mines directly and find out what their policies are. I'm sure this is a policy that likelihood from state to state, and mine to mine.

If the shouting is in front of customers it is totally totally not good enough. The manager should be more grown and discuss things off the floor.
