Question:
I will be graduating beside a MSc in Networking this september and I be wondering how can I get a profession as a DBA or Solaris administrator.I do have a level in Computer Science as ably.Any IT professionals out there please push for. Thanks
Answers:
True ORacle DBA's are few and those positions while highly remunerated require oodles of experience. The reason is because Oracle is expensive and really single used by large companies beside large enterprise requirements. Those companies will only consider folks near extensive hardcore database experience to administer there systems, a simple Master within CompSci is not enough .
My Advice start past its sell-by date learning something resembling SQL Server , become proficient in that , acquire a DBA positon in that later move your way up into Oracle.
Oracle shops are intensely unix centric so , be sure to have strong unix skills as all right.
Is it mundane to submission to volunteer surrounded by a corporate restaurant close to applebees/chilis, until a position open?
Question:
I've never heard of this EVER, but I own never worked for minimum wage and I have experience as a server and bartender, but on interviews, lately they are mortal real firm almost ONLY offering a hostess positions, and NOTHING else, it's really confusing to me, and therefore, this desperate and creative thought of lately asking the manager to allow volunteer hostess until a position as a server open? Will they be cool with this and utter Ok or think it's totally null and ridiculous? What do you think?
Answers:
It is not typical.
It's VERY common to propose to volunteer in an established foodie restaurant - it's called a stage. Sort of close to being an intern. Usually, if salaried, just minimum.
I don't know that ancestors bother to do it in corporate restaurants similar to Applebees, and the fact that they are corporate lead me to think it wouldn't work because of liability issues and/or the certainty you might sue them for something that happened on the duty when you aren't even getting paid.
But within high-end restaurants, it's very adjectives.
HOWEVER, it doesn't hurt to ask, and that will let the superintendent know you are VERY interested in working within. I suspect they will have to vote no, but I also suspect you will be the first person on their mind when they be in motion to look for a replacement for someone. Go for it!
I have never hear of someone considered necessary to volunteer at a restaurant chain. However, if you are serious around working your way to the top, next get a duty there doing anything at first and try to transition on.
Managers would love volunteer comfort as more places are short handed in our time. The issue is that if you become hurt in any dimensions, it becomes a liability for the employer and the arranger can be fired. In short, I don't think they will pocket volunteers because of legal issues.
Try to create and expand your introduce yourself. Find out as much as you can about the restaurant and the official. Speak to employees when you are in attendance. Make friends, and ask them to give you a head up when a position is opening. Speak to the proprietor to let him know that you can be on telephone if he is short handed.

You do not involve a medical degree to be a clinical psychologist. It is fairly easy to take onto a psychology degree course but thoroughly difficult to become a clinical psychologist. I am unsure of the demand for psychologists contained by the army.
You do not need a medical level to be a radiographer. Do you mean a radiologist? You could transport out your training for a radiographer within the NHS and next transfer to the army.
If you tight a radiologist, then you have need of a medical degree. The army will sponsor you through your level. You will again be trained within the NHS and once fully qualified, you work for the army. Your wages will be matching as a civilian doctor, but you get perk like free accomodation. You will hold to work in areas of conflict, such as Iraq and this really isn't that risk-free.
You would be able to bring more information from the army website.
as far as i am aware you would need to be already qualified, but the army will sponsor you through a amount if they really wanted you. they do not provide medical training themselves. the army wants all types bad medical staff as they man entire hospitals themselves, even psychologists. go to the army pattern site, they will have it adjectives laid out for you.
just as somewhat side note, psychology and radiography are severely different things.
Alice, I wish you every nouns in your quest to become the first psychologist or even medical charge operative in The British Army, my sarcasm, resourcefully after giving them 17 yrs of my life, I be attacked (between duties) and had my skull crushed. The result; a MD and no income or compensation. Now 12 yrs later I am still aggression to get what I be told should have be rightfully mine. The medical staff assessed me and only awarded me 14%, which is reviewed every 3-4 yrs, so I grasp nothing. I still pressed my son to join up and he goe's to Afghanistan or Iraq contained by August.
I gave them 17 years and my son, and they give me nothing. Good luck; you WILL necessitate it.
Would it be unreasonable to request an interview for a potential employer after submitting an application?
Question:
I have already submitted my application- should I email them and thank them for looking over my application and request an interview at their earliest convieniece? or is this impossible ettiquette?
Answers:
Yes! You're being remarkably presumptuous. The employer may have received hundreds of applications, and you own no idea at what point of the process they're contained by. If you come across as too pushy, you'll turn them off. At best, linger at least a week, afterwards call or email to find out what stage of the applicant test process they're in. That will show them you're serious short coming across as being pushy.
Well, you should never ask for a assignment, only ask for an informational interview, you want to seize them to ask you or offer you the living.
you never ask for interviews. if you do its pretty much garunteed that they will throw away your app.

It is rugged to prove you didn't do something even if you know what you didn't do. Most states employers hold a right to not keep human resources for any reason or no origin at all. If they reason you harmed a resident they need to error on the side of wariness.

How can I transition from Desktop Support to a Networking/Security work?
Question:
I've been doing desktop troubleshooting and helpdesk work for roughly 5 years now, and I of late got a work doing it for the State (responsible for about 25,000 users). However, the profession seems to be a dead-end and i'm looking for warning on what would be the best way to cross-train my mode to an overall IT management position (Preferably something along the lines of shelter, but i'll go where on earth the 100k jobs are). Any thinking besides just getting my certs and hoping someone give me a shot? Should I just stay beside this new situation and work towards management? Learn a few programming language? Thanks.

Well it sounds resembling you established a good craft track in lingo of starting in IT on assist desk and now moving up, its a crude progression. Here's the approach I would take.
Keep the state undertaking for a six month period to build up your resume and point out how you enjoy experience with colossal scale deployments. After this look into existing industry respected Certs ( go here for more details: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/cyber_secur... ) , prepare and Take them . The cert a short time ago says you know how to leave behind a test, but while your at your state brief you can try and implement a few security planning even better, all within an effort to bolster your resume within this area.
Then when 6 months stir by begin you charge hunt for a security position, contact CTO's directly if you can, fire up doing consulting work on the side. etc.. Write a how to blog or contribute to a well agreed site. All this is about building your brand..
From a hi-tech perspective , you'll need to acquire a really strong handle on Networking (routers, Cisco, firewalls) , followed by a solid kind of OS (Windows, Linux) , some knowledge of databases, etc. Not so much programming, collateral is really more about plugging holes , and most of that can be done using hardware and software configurations. Learning the ins and outs of those configuration settings (example appache httpd.conf file) is what does the trick..

I would not use those exact words, but their is nothing wrong beside taking initative. The general rule of thumb is to follow up one week after your interview if you enjoy not heard anything.
I would vote something like, I would similar to to touch base near you in regard to the .... position I interviewed for last week. I look forward to speaking near you again in regard to this position. Also thank them again for their time and consideration.
No. It shows initiative.
Call and tell them you are asking the status of your application/interview.
Good luck!
No, it proves that you are interested within the position. I always read aloud write a thank you note after an interview. Many applicants do not do this. It could present you the edge.
Peace and blessings!
You should other call after an interview and thank them for their time, if you don't hear vertebrae from them you can simply call and ask if they've made a outcome and let them know you're excited in the order of it.
Possible employers don't want to hear that you want A duty they want to know that you want THAT job
Don't ask if you be hired! If you were, they'd enjoy called you already!
Call them and right to be heard something like "Hi, this is Bob Jones and we met on Tuesday when I be in to interview for the _____ position. I be calling because I wondered if you'd made any decisions even so, or if you can tell me when you might do so."
Now THAT shows initiative!

I work in an free standing out long-suffering imaging center, so my work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:30 - 5:30. Hospital schedule can vary depending on the work nouns at that particular hospital. There are sunshine shifts consisting of 8 hour days. There are evening and overnight shifts, if the hospital staffs the ultrasound tech 24 hours a day (this does not evolve often). In a hospital setting, ultrasound techs can be "on call" if the department is not staffed 24 hours a day. Some hospitals work their hi-tech staff on 10 hours a day, four days a week. Some techs work weekends within a hospital, some hospitals just enjoy ultrasound techs on call over the weekend. See what I show? Best wishes..
