Careers Employment Questions and Answers

Is somebody next to military experiance a better canidate for a career as a cop, later a college graduate?

Question:
what would look better, military experiance or a bachelors degree surrounded by a law related grazing land, such as criminology?

Answers:
In my department, military experience is perferred. Instead of theorizing nearly it, these people enjoy actually done it. We hold rank and command similar to the military and those with experience read between the lines and follow along much better than those with a level. A degree, is valued, and it does give a hand gain an understanding of the trial aspects and the criminal mind, but it is no substitute for experience and first hand knowlege.
Yes and I come up with they get nouns also .
Yes they are. Because when you are a college student the academy still feels as though they own to teach you from gash. And thats mentally,physically,emotionall... etc...Where as if you are straight out of the military (like myself) you already have adjectives the credentials necessary, except more. The only upper appendage you would have coming out of college, is that you would be college literary, bu that doesn't mean any one coming out of the military is not literary, so its almost a catch 22 i suppose.

Ok, here's the deal. I be hired to work in the shop fabricate and assembling the product. Very shortly after I was hired (within one month) I found out that the owners of the business planned to find rid of the other three long term citizens who worked there (including the manager) and own just one personality (me, who had be there simply three months by this time) do everything - including the office work. I be not told anything about these plans at my interview. Now I am stuck in that all alone afternoon in and morning out and can't even take a time off once contained by a while because the owners have other full time job in another city and are remarkably seldom there, where on earth I work. They also treat me like I am an idiot, when within fact I own much more experience than they do in the features of work I do.
What would you do?

Use the workplace to set yourself up for another job - product use of the fax machine and access to computer services.

Contact the labor board in your state to find out what your state's law are regarding time bad. If you are required to work seven days a week, you should be getting mega amounts of overtime. And start looking for another job right away. As long as you do what they want you to do for them, nil will change. And when you stop doing adjectives of it, you will be headed out the door anyway.

2) A entity who loved working with empire - all kind of people
3) Kind, considerate and compassionate, but firm and business-like
4) Good typist (word processor), good speller, competent to work independantly
5) Able to work some overtime (if necessary)
6) Willing to travel (sometimes I would go out of town to recruit)
7) Someone who know "A little about a lot" (I similar to people who are self starters. Let's say-so I needed you to make some flight arrangements and you've never done it until that time - you might know 'a little about it - but not details...be arranged to call whomever you entail to call within order to gain the job done short asking me a thousand questions.
8) A right reader (scan mail and trademark decisions)
9) A good filer - (know the alphabet) believe it or not - at hand are many nation who don't know what comes first McDowell or MacIntosh?

Lastly - don't hesitate to brag on yourself and your skills. I have a young woman who came up beside ideas that made our company much money - one of those be creating a cookbook - and we sold it for $5.made $25,000!! She received a hefty bonus for her contribution and hard work..\

Good luck!! I decision you the absolute best!
In HR you traffic with adjectives the legal issues of hiring, firing and providing/adminstering benefits. So departed experience in any of to be precise a help. Attention to detail and complete work is extremely momentous as if details are left slack the company can be fined or sued for not doing their job lawfully. You should be able to hand over examples of completeness in your work, dealing next to upset customers, attention to detail, and following the rules.
Why do you want job
What qualify you for job
Do you savour working with ethnic group
Are you able to work beside minimal supervision
What are your computer skills
Are you familiar next to federal and state rules for unemployment, termination, cobra.
Good luck
Anyone working contained by the Human Resources department (even if entry level) can end up mortal a liability for the company. Therefore, you will be asked if you have studied and hold had some related experience so you know how to grill, reply or write to an employee minus getting the company into some kind of legitimate trouble.
Human Resources employees hoof it a tight rope but their main available job is to proctect the company from being sued or fined.
You will next have to convince the interviewer that you are aware of your limitations, likely to learn and surrounded by the meantime keep yourself and the company out of trouble.
Generally speaking, surrounded by any interview you will be asked what you think you can do to do this position very well. Why should we hire you? What skills do you possess that you feel would be an asset to our company. Give an example of when you encounter a problem. How did you solve it? What prompted you to resolve the problem this way? They will mostly give you a scenario of something that happen and what you would do to resolve it. Good luck!
In addition to others' suggestions, they may ask what your strengths and weakness are which is basically a trick examine, and one never wants to read aloud anything that will paint him or herself in a bleak light. Someone mentioned knowing around 'cobra' (an acronym though not sure what it stands for, sorry :) which may be asked as well. They most imagined would like to hire someone that can bring to the fore morale, have a sunny disposition as resourcefully as being organized and well-spoken. Perhaps if (or when) they ask you if you own any questions, you can ask them how they see you fitting into their administration. Please remember that salary is Always discussed ending as it will seem greedy to confer about more rapidly in the interview. Wishing you the best of luck!
be there. entry rank. Know the Company that you are interviewing for! It will give you an limit because it tell that human being that you have done your homework. if the grill is why do you want to work for us? you talk give or take a few the company repetition...

any other question in the region of yourself, short simple answers. ambitious, detailed....
I think that SINGER have the best answer! But I would add that you inevitability to go to their website and read everything that you can nearly the company. Then make sure that you tolerate them know that you did this. This will impress them that you did your homework prior to interviewing.

Don't forget to ask for the job... you can other say at the come to an end of the interview. "Do you see anything at this point that would prevent you from offering me the position." if they say No, you should stand up shake their foot and say "When can I start". Never step to an interview without knowing that you want the assignment if your questions are answered going on for the company during the interview... Be prepared to interview your interviewer.

Good luck to you!

Ok, company is going through manditory cuts which includes OT, but my co-worker is exempt?

Question:
Bottom line here is he is the single office individual from our area i.e. allowed to earn OT. My boss keeps me latter and I get zilch. I have to correct the co-workers mistakes create he is never at his desk and he just does the work to attain it done. I come from the school that you do it right the first time.

Now we are going through a lolly crunch and I cannot get a reveiw permit alone any kind of a angle...but this loser works all the OT he desires, has no lessons or common sense and I enjoy to clean up after him.

If I vacate before 6:00pm I am asked why I'm going away so early. I do not filch a lunch and work at my desk.

Our boss told him that his OT had to walk down, so he when to other departments in the building to pick up hours within. I just don't bring it. He does a crappy job and does what he wishes, and I have to ask to exit an hour after I should have; this doesn't brand name sense....

Answers:
If you're employed in the US, afterwards whether or not they pay OT is not for them to desire, it's Federally mandated. If you're contained by one of the many states that don't own more stringent OT regulations, then you should be compensated 1.5 times your regular pay for any hours contained by any workweek that exceed 40. Some states, like CA, require the employer to earnings for any hours in excess of 8 surrounded by any work day. There are further regulations that apply if you work over 12 hours contained by a day, if you work 7 days within a row in any one workweek, etc.

My warning to you would be to check with HR to confirm that it is your company's policy not to remuneration overtime, then check next to the Labor Board to confirm that they are not complying with labor law. That, and start looking for another job at a company that values it's workforce!
That's BS and may be some nepotism there. I would recommend going to HR, but those losers are on the odd occasion if ever pro employee and work for the company and against the member of staff. You may wind up getting fired which is cool because you can probably sue them on the grounds of retaliation or something along those lines. If this one and single person who does like work as you and is getting OT and the rest of you guys aren't the company is breaking some serious Federal and state laws. I would send for the Department of Labor wage and hour department. You can even email them with your complaint and use a phony first name if you feel more comfortable. But here is a certainty I do know. If you go through next to a complaint and DOL investigates and they will based on what you wrote, and this fools fire you... You can conspicuously sue them for retaliation and maybe even whistleblowing for calling them out for breaking the canon.
What your boss is doing is absolutely dubious. The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) laws state that ANY time where on earth your whereabouts are controlled by your employer is considered working hours and must be paid time, and that they must income applicable overtime rates for any time you are kept there. And that any time worked over 40 hours surrounded by a week must be paid at time-and-a-half of your regular earnings.

There is no law that stops your employer from making overtime mandatory, but what they MUST do is pay packet you for it.

You would do well to present a copy of these law to your employer and say that you will no longer work overtime unless you are remunerated fairly for it, and that if he terminate you because you don't work for free, that you will report him to the Labor Board and seek compensation for adjectives the back salary time. In fact, you should still do that much. It is your court right. The sites below will provide you some information on this, as well as links to the specific law and how to contact the right people for your company's business practice.

And be sure to keep hold of a log of all whereabouts your company takes against you, including exact times you work, what your income is, and what they actually pay cheque you (i.e. check stubs and copies of your timecard). And if the company doesn't keep timecard files, they are in further vandalism of the law.
This sounds approaching this is an "aint broke" situation for your employer and your co-worker.

So...

1. Make yourself and your performance attractive to your employer. You surface you performance is dutiful now, but you must bring in it attractive to your boss. Ask questions. "Need anything done today boss?" Put maximum shot into those delegated tasks to be paid sure they are complete and correct. Then jokingly say, "You know that item you asked for, was near any doubt in your mind when I be put on it? It was done right; it be done early!"

2. Make yourself attractive to other employer and your industry in standard.

3. Get a good attitude (you enjoy a bad one immediately, and it is understandable). Listen to motivational tapes, read motivational books, seize into the gym, get your curls did. Stay out of gossip and company bash conversations.

4. Be overly nice to everyone, even the co-worker and your boss.

5. Get your resume together and email it confidentially to other employers contained by your industry. Hide this step.

6. After steps 1-5 are done, then you can finally stop doing your co-worker's post for him (stop being his assistant) and you can afterwards come to your boss with a valid complaint. You must come to your boss next to a good attitude, you must look your best, you must be dressed as you would be for a opening interview. Make sure in this engagement you put together with your boss that you enjoy control of your facts. Give instances where you are sensation like you are unappreciated and show examples of how your work is a huge beneficial impact to the company. Since you already did steps 1-5, your boss will already see a alter in you. Focus on the positive. Do not complain in the order of your co-worker. Just say "If others have my new attitude and outlook on go, and were feeling like to put in my go, I think you would see maximum productivity out of our section. Rather than looking to bring in spanking new people, you could after reward your base core group who own stayed loyal to you."

These steps should give your employer the conception, consciously and subconsciously, that he better deliver to you or you will move on. If your boss still is not predisposed to put up, by doing the above steps you will put yourslef in a position to be running to a post, rather than running away from one.
You've already gotten a few answers next to EXCELLENT advice. I can put in the picture you that our family be in business most of my vivacity and we are well aware of labor law. Truth is.if you contact the Labor Board and you can prove you have be working these hours...they will make your employer pay envelope back wages. I be in this situation once and be instructed to not put the actual hours worked on my timecard. If you get a paystub next to your paycheck.on most they list hours worked near pay received. Your stub have to be saying you solitary worked 40 hours is that is adjectives you are receiving. Then.you enjoy no proof. Be sure that you insist that your hours worked be documented. The only other agency they could legally be doing this is if they reclassified your position from hourly to net. Which is why I will never take a gross job. And it is permitted for them to change your classification short your consent...I quit a job for that object. My son is an archetect and worked for a big firm in DC. He be salary, but beside the plan that at certain times he received bonuses ( amount not specified...but implied that if he be able to complete projects and gather the company money, they would take that into report for bonuses.) He worked there over five years and worked his track up to project manager. Last year the overtime he worked be inhuman. I warned him that near business..loyality is not a valued quality. And when it come time for bonuses.well you know. So he quit. Lesson cultured: take carefulness of yourself.nobody else is going to do it.
find somewhere new to work because they see you as a patsy.

Assuming you are not on net they CANNOT hold you without paying you. thats adjectives there is to it.

but the certainty that they even try shows how litlle respect they have for you. carry out asap

unless your leaving is going to create the papers don't bother threatening.

if you are willing to put yourself through the aggravation of lawful action later get a small mp3 voice recorder and when they transmit you to do this guys work you say are you going to discharge me his money? when they say no afterwards youve got them. afterwards you say no appreciation then and you run home. if they fire you then you lift them to cleaners. BUT its a long road. and no guarantees

just verbs
Well, STOP FIXING HIS WORK, let him plummet on his face. Do your work and evacuate his alone, they will get the point that someone have been covering for him. Sounds approaching he could be on his way out anyways next to your boss, they do not like general public to go over near head. If you want any overtime I would simply turn to your boss and ask straight up, "I really need some extra money this week/month and I know the OT is tight, but if in that is any that comes up would you keep me surrounded by mind. If you finish your work early, dont shift get his, move about to your boss and let him know you are finished untimely and you wanted to see if he have anything that you could work on for him to help him out and if then you would be cleaning or working on the work for tomorrow. Let them know contained by a round about channel that you are the one pulling the load and that you are unswerving to your job.
Good luck.
Time to be looking for another available job. Its hard to find apt workers with moral working skills. Let him find out for himself how his employee is working and permit him fall flat on his butt! boss and member of staff both!
