The mothers in my department have the peak absenteeism. Sick children, children's school events, conservatory holidays, etc. The list go on. At times it's a real burden for us.
I be once a young mother. I be fortunate in that I have a great baby-sitter and my parents substituted in a pinch. I missed exceptionally little work. It might help to be capable of present that type of info to an employer, so they know you won't be missing work. Just a thought.
If you've not been working for five years, most employer would like touch that your experience is rather stale and wishes updating. Have you considered taking classes to update your skills?
