For University Professors - Career Questions?
Question:
I will be going to graduate school contained by about 2 years time-for the purpose of anyone able to guide at a University.
I have a few question about how to arrive at my goal....
Does a TA postion facilitate when it comes time to find a job? Or is a research or graduate assistantship polite enough?
What is the integral process involved to become a professor? I don't quite think through the difference between different proffesor's titles.
What else can I do to help pull off my goal? What haven't I though something like?
Any info will help!
Thanks!
Answers:
Generally, if you're entering into a PhD program (which is what you'll requirement to teach at most Universities) - you'll be offered any a TA or research assistant position. Some schools refer to TAs and graduate assistants as indistinguishable thing. All will minister to with your craft goals... but you have need of to know what type of school and profession you want to have. Do you want to focus more on law or research?
Assistant Professor is a new professor - roughly right out of graduate school. Associate Professor is unanimously after about 3-5 years. Full Professor comes after several years. Generally, the switch to Associate and Full Professor comes through the tenure process... where you own to prove your contribution to the school surrounded by terms of guideline experience (your feedback from classes), research (the number of published articles & presentations that you've given) and service (which is service to the school, mostly through committees). Each school have a different tenure process.
I would say that the best route to learn more is to tell to current PhD students at the schools that you're considering. They're mostly the best ones to give you a true picture of what go will be like through the program (generally 4-5 years) and what's expected from you.
There are also some flawless books out there roughly speaking the academic post search and web-sites that alter by field.
Good luck!
Accredited online paralegal arts school?
Question:
Does anyone know of a regionally accredited online school for paralegal studies, I have 3 years of college credits but I cannot get to school traditionally because I enjoy to work. I was thinking of any Penn Foster or Kaplan but neither is nationally endorsed and Kaplan is just too expensive. Any suggestions?
Answers:
FYI, the rigorous reality is most lawyer do not want to hire ppl with an online amount in Paralegal. Go find a advocate to mentor you and find out what your area values. Most lawyer value experience over degree, I do.
I would take a smart H.S. grad that can type55+ WPM and train them anti some cracker whose parents helicoptered his or her butt through college and a masters degree (no poop).
Most of those school are great at taking your tuition dollars, but not good at helping you find a comperable chore where you can earn a living you deserve. see if the local lump has a mentorship program. I'll bet you dollars to donuts in that are lawyers surrounded by your jurisdiction who are looking to train good paralegals. You entail to find somewhere you will fit. If they mentor you through your online degree, catch the online degree, but short the mentorship, you might be wasting your money.
All the good paralegals I know have training either past or during school. Most nation I know who got the online amount or once from a business college have a nice peice of dissertation in his or her desk drawer that did not bring them a job.
You may want to speak to a contestant of your local ALA (http://www.alanet.org/home.html)... about what types of things they look for.
You can also try this connection.
http://nationalparalegal.edu/
But I have no experience beside the online courses.
Try a school that is to say a member of AAfPE (American Association for Paralegal Education). You want regional, not national, accreditation.
You can try https://www.uta.edu/wconnect/showschedul...
This is for Texas though. I am not sure which state you are from. You may move about to any of the universtities there and find out contained by the continuing education department in the region of this. Even if you have to intuitively go and rob classes, it will typically be after work hours like from 6 to 9.30 surrounded by the night.
Good luck
Online degree are generally laugh at in the tangible world.
Is it possible for me to be a fireman even though I am mildly short-sighted?
Question:
Hi,
I want to be a fireman but am mildly short sighted, I have goggles but wear them very, highly rarely. In every other respect I am fit and natural. but will my eyesight let me down?
Thanks
Answers:
The one and only way within which you can find out is to apply and undergo a verbs test. Perhaps the occupancy "good eyesight" will turn out to suggest "relatively good eyesight"!
Try this exam.
How many firehoses am I holding up?
Just checking to see if you can recognise the difference between a fire hose and cog of my anatomy.
why dont you apply and see what happens
It depends how short-sighted you are, as you will own to be able to see capably should your glasses/lenses fall rotten or become damaged. Why not pop into your local fire station or jobcentre and ask?
I looked into this albeit a few years ago and the answer be definately no in the areas I looked at (Scotland). Apparently too risky in fire conditions. Check for your local Fire Authorities on the net - but I doubt they've changed. I asked if they took applicants who'd had laser surgery and they told me - not if we know almost it. i.e. if you admit it next no but if you don't. However, if it is discovered later that could be considered a breach of contract.
Why dont you practice throwing cats up trees consequently seeing if you can first see them and second be able to shoot them out the tree beside a water pistol. This would be a dutiful indication if fire fighting is for you.
As long as you can operate effectively in need glasses you should be OK.
When is the right time to communicate your boss you are moving out of state?
Question:
I have my home for mart and once it sells I plan on moving to another state. I hold no idea how long this could cart. I mentioned it to a few poeple at work in ratification but felt it be not important plenty to discuss the possiblity of leaving my commission with my boss since I will enjoy 30 days once we do sell. This is when I planned to vote something. It seems it have gotten back to them and presently I am being treated defectively. Was I wrong not to go to him right away? My other boss call me in her bureau to bully me about it and the thought of going rear legs really makes me sick to my stomach.
Answers:
The right time to report to you boss you are moving out of state is BEFORE you tell any of your co-workers. Whether you "mentioned it contained by passing" or held a full blown town hall reunion about it, professional courtesy would own been to bring back the word to your boss before anyone else did.
Well, they found out so stir explain to them what your plans are. IF the house don't sell since the open market is not good at this time vs If you flog your home what you want to do.
Tell her now because the longer you continue you may get treated scantily, telling them in a minute and explaining that you weren't quite sure up to that time but.
I am in like peas in a pod situation as you. I am moving out of state on September 15th and I am going to tell my Boss on August 1st. I own not told anyone other than close loved ones members because it would be unpromising if he heard it from somebody else.
It sounds approaching your boss already knows. I would run and discuss it with them within person. Tell them that the date of your move is impossible to perdict as it depends on the public sale of your home so you felt it would not be appropriate to make clear to them know as there is no definate date within place.
If they are treating you bad already perchance it would be best to resign now and take temporary work somewhere else until you move - specifically if there is other work available.
it is ettiquette to endow with a 2 week notice and it is really none of her business frankly. I wouldn't enjoy told them til i sold the house and then I would make a contribution them the 30 days notice. That is plenty of time and it is not as if you are running stale on them. Good luck
Technically, you don't have to report them anything. Even the two-weeks notice is more a courtesy, but it sounds close to you really don't care for your work since it seem like you're wanting to burn that bridge.
However, you should hold told them sooner since you already mentioned it to fellow coworkers. The boss probably feels that you disrespected his/her.
If you're already bullied by one boss, you might as economically formally tell your direct boss.
Two weeks notice is what you entail to give.
That's adjectives.
Think about you first what is best for you.
Go and do your position like other, until the last morning that the two weeks notice train.
And say bye, to your boss.
Always remember the smaller quantity you talk the best the smaller number information you give is the best.
Good luck!
There is an antediluvian adage that the only means of access to keep a not to be mentioned between two people is if one of them is late. Don't confide things in empire that you don't want to get put money on to your boss. If your home is up for sale and your boss get wind of it, you could own been blurred about your plans for the adjectives, but with have heard through the grapevine that you'll be departure, it's a whole different ballgame.
If I be you, I would have wait for the house to sell and given 2-4 weeks concentration before the move.
You might obligation to do some damage control. Once a boss know someone is leaving, they will mostly begin a turn upside down to find a replacement, so don't be surprised if you leave on their timing a bit than your own.

Unless you move to korea and work in a nike industrial plant at hand isn't a way to achieve a job inside the united states legitimately. That doesn't mean you can't do chores and variety some extra cash from your neighbors or family connections, ex mowing the grass.
Here's a short list of job which you can create to generate income:
1. Learn calligraphy so that you can provide handwritten invitations and thank you notes to prospective nuptials parties, birthday celebrations, etc. Seek out clients through nuptial planners at nearby churches and temple. A starter calligraphy kit usually runs around $20 and anyone can slickly pick up this skill. The going rate is usually $1 per hand address item.
2. Become a "poser" who assists wedding photographers surrounded by setting and arranging various individuals contained by group and single photographic positions. "Posers" carry around a sketch book of multiple sitting and standing poses which consists of onion skin overlays of various matrimony pictures bound in albums. Again, contact local celebratory photographers and wedding planners, properly. The hourly pay is around $10-$12 per hour and you are normally invited to attend all dining events.
3. Seek from your neighbors a gardner position which involves planting, weed removal, plant/tree trimming, light brush clearance. You will be using the neighbor's equipment and tools. Again, do not represent yourself as a sward mower since there are any number of safekeeping issues involved. A door-to-door solicitation of surrounding neighbors is required and you can charge between $6 to $9 per hour.
4. Offer policing/removal or clearance of trash services to surrounding neighbors which involve trash pickup within close by residential area. Limit the extent of pickup to small areas and be aware that in that are no hazardous terrain or elements involved in this process. Again, a door-to-door solicitation of neighbors is within order. You can charge between $6.75 to $7.50 per hour.
5. Acquire a set of fanlight cleaning tools [a bucket, liquid pane cleaner, sponge, squeegee, handle beside an extension and a small step ladder] and solicit local businesses for your window cleaning services. However, think twice to limit the increase of the window cleaning to no complex than one story. Charge $1 per window panel.
6. Become a proxy/stand-in for neighbors to allow conferral of goods and packages to your home/apartment. Acquire the authority to sign any unloading of incoming packages as an accepting neighbor. Charge $1 per each bunch handled by you.
7. Consider becoming a restaurant-cafe customer liaison by using your cell phone at restaurants-cafes to coordinate next to the hostess to keep track of waiting customers. Whenever there's a extraordinarily long period of time to motivate a waiting list, you want to give the restaurant your services so that customers do not have to stand around for any long-winded period of time. And when their name/assigned number comes up; you can hail as the upcoming customer's cell phone to tell them that they can return to the restaurant and be served. The phone back charge is usually around $0.50 cents on a per head spring. For example, a couple would be charged $1.00 while children under 6 would not be charged. Placement of a plaque which outlines your charge schedule essential the hostess station is sufficient to garner attention of prospective customers who will effectiveness your services since they can do other activities outside of the restaurant -- normally beyond the range of any inhouse page system. You realize that everyone has a cellphone and why not whip advantage of the connectivity to fashion the diner's experience worthwhile. The restaurant will also appreciate the added service you are providing as a customer liaison.
8. Why not become a paid feeder servicing the disabled at neighbouring nursing, convalescent, assisted living/care centers and hospitals. It involves feeding food to patients who are powerless to feed themselves. The starting rate is $8.00 per hour. The just downside is that one has to clutch precautions to wash one's hand after each feed. A posting of your services [by a business card or flyer] on a reviewable bulletin board would be enough to generate customers. The remunerated feeder position is one of the fastest growing occupation at this time.
Good luck!
A press for nurses!?
Question:
I will be attending college to major surrounded by nursing in the trickle. I get really mixed opinion on the career...bu most of the time I hear that it is a dutiful career. I also hear that the academy is really hard..I did really very well in giant school and I'm used to studying and within terms of school-work I am other responsible. Am I in over-my-head? Or do relatives just similar to to intimidate me about my adjectives career? And one end question..how's the payment?
Answers:
If you did well contained by high institution, then you plainly have a teachable spirit & will strive to excell. School is thorny & takes time & commitment. I know I did not hold much "free time" at all while surrounded by college & that is simply the sacrifice you make. If you turn into it with the mindset that you are loyal to your education it will be jammy to forgo the "free time".Speaking as a nurse of over 30 years, pay is average but the best money will be contract work/agency jobs. Most mostly, an agency requires you first have at smallest one year experience in the corral before they will hire you. Comparing gross between hospitals, nursing centers, office work, & agencies- I hold found the agencies to usually pay 30 -50% more than department nurses and the nursing centers usually pay smaller amount than hospitals. If I had it to do over again, I would enjoy given administrative type nursing jobs a fortune as you usually don't work holidays & weekends in this position. I seldom had holidays near my kids/family because I worked.Good luck.
there are no "hard" majors contained by college, it all depends on what you are pious at. a degree within nursing might be easy for someone who is accurate at science, but hard for someone who is honest at English and vice versa. have you checked out the account of classes you need to graduate from this college near a nursing degree? are you upright at those subjects? if so, you will be fine. college is harder than high conservatory because you go through everything much faster and not a soul will hold your hand through the process. keep hold of up with your studying, attend class, prepare for test and you should be fine.

Career Advice Business/accounting?
Question:
I dont' know what I want to be when I grow up...funny thing is I am grown up. I go to private school my total life...graduate high conservatory with honors and go to a small private college on a full scholarship. I hold completed two years but I am a second semester junior by credits. I was an accounting principal by my mothers pushing, which turns out I was in truth good at it. I have to withdrawl from school for familial reasons and moved stern to houston. I took a year off to oblige out and now I am working a charge I hate...I work beside XML at an international eprocurment, buyer to buyer company as an intern. I'm in somewhat of a similar situation as you.
I enjoy a couple friends who have worked near consulting firms. You could try and land an internship near one (Accenture, Capgemini, Deloitte, etc.). It will give you a broad variety of exposure to miscellaneous industries, and you'll learn profusely.
Get in flash. There are lots of us that don't know what we want to be when we're grown up!
But you might want to try the following. #1, try to suck it up on your current internship. It doesn't look good on a resume that you not here an internship before the summer be over. #2, either very soon or when you get rear to school, speak to the career placement organization of your school. They should be capable of get you a Strong-Campbell Interest Inventory and other career-planning exams. That will assist you contained by identifying potential field. Once you have those identified, speak to one of the work counselors about what those test indicate. #3, after your counseling session, try to meet ethnic group that are working ini those fields. These are informational interviews - you're not asking for a work. Find out what they do and see if it sparks an interest. Then, #4, see if you can land an internship beside a company that fits into one of the fields you've indentified.
Also, if you're dutiful at accounting, don't think you're restricted to counting beans. Accounting is a phenomenal foundation for many types of work, from public accounting, the FBI, admin consulting, in-house accounting, to forensic accounting. I ought to know - I've been a CPA for 21 years.
Best of luck.
Relax, you're not as grown up as you may reckon. That's probably not what you want to hear, but seriously, you are of college age, which means you can't be any more than 21-22 years behind the times. Your whole energy is in front of you, and you hold all of your option available to you. I would definitely stick it out beside the internship-it's a few more months, and who knows what you might capture exposed to that could trigger something inside of you. After that, figure out what it is that you are devoted about. Once you digit that out, do that, and don't let anyone natter you out of it. You'd be surprised, but you can do what you love AND make a ton of money doing it:) All the best!
Keep abreast of what's going on out there contained by the job open market. If there's someone you know with a nouns to somewhere you're interested in working , agree to him know. Sometimes a little backing on the inside does a world of good. But moral luck with what ever you want. You are very okay
.educated. bettyk
Many college grads do not know what they close to until they have tried it. I enjoy worked with doctors who settled to go into a different type of practice because they found that they get tired of hearing adjectives the complaints and dealing with Family Practice so they go into Anesthesiology. They only have to deal next to people while they are alseep.

Question:
I'm a 12 year old girl. I want to be a music producer, you know-the party that sits in front of a dj mixer and make the music for songs and controls the volumes and stuff. Can a girl be one? and what education do i stipulation? if you have other warning, tips, etc. plz list them
thnx
Answers:
Starting at a youthful age (age 14 or younger preferably) learn how to use several instruments, learn how to read sheet music, master tempo's, possibly even write your own music.
Learn how to use a soundboard. Learn how to use multiple computer programs. Create some beats, and don't simply write for one genre. Try doing punk, ska, rock, rap, r&b, country, funk, jazz, and the likes. The more genre's you do, the more broad your horizons, the more clients you can own.
Go to college. Get a degree. If music production doesn't work out, you hold something to fall-back on. Sound engineering, or something to do with business would be a apt choice.
In the 1950s, a woman named Cordell Jackson blazed a trail for womanly engineers and producers by founding Moon Records in Memphis, Tenn. Jackson be one of a handful of women accepted as equals contained by the recording studio.
Following Jackson's head, the list of women producers begin to grow: Ellie Greenwich, Sylvia Moy, Linda Creed and Sylvia Robinson. Robinson would go on to run the Sugar Hill text label, which contained by 1979 introduced hip-hop to mainstream America near the hit "Rapper’s Delight."
YOU CAN BE WHAT EVER YOU WANT TO BE
just remember that and zilch will hold you back
Of course a womanly can do that job! I don't hold any other information about it, but within is no restriction on gender for job like this.
yes u can, wat u obligation 2 do is be in music classes, study it and recognize it.
There are no gender restrictions within music. It severely disappoints me that there are dependable roles in music that are "guy" or "girl" roles. You know, close to "Guys play trombone, girls play flute." I would try and learn as much as you can not lone about music, but also roughly computers and other technology.
Of course a girl can be one. You need to study music and business within college. I'd join decoration if you could because you need to cram how to read music first. band help train your ears to check for tune and just plain volume control.
You really requirement all the music skills you can bring back. Plus business would help if you looked-for to start your own producing business. It will teach you how to run your business and your organization.
Girl/Guy... Doesn't really matter as long as you grasp the job done.
As for counsel: Get an internship w/ a sound company -- the citizens that control bass/trebble/vollume levels/etc at concerts. (The first thing you'll have need of to know is how to operate a sound board). By doing that, you'll also take to know the bands, relations from recording companies, etc. Let them know that you want to be a 'music producer' and they will point you contained by the right direction (maybe even give you a karma at being one right away).
GOOD LUCK
Sure a girl can be one.
But, a music producer doesn't sit contained by front of a DJ mixer...that would be a DJ.
A music producer has studied music and nouns and works with multi-level nouns boards...as well as helping shape the fluent music itself. It is not as simple as sampling.
Russ
learn adjectives you can, when you become 16 start working with a DJ service and narrate them what you want to do. Call a radio station and see what you need to do, read up on adjectives the books on the music corral. See if there is a local fastening and call them up and see if you can sometime be in motion along and see how that person does it. It may not be for you after you view them for awhile. Just call around and ask what schooling they suggest, I'm sure mortal 12 and if you tell them what your doing they will consent to you talk beside someone that actually does it at the station.
Sure, a girl can be music producer! I know a few of them, and they love what they do.
I've be working with music myself for years immediately, and it's a very rich career pavement.
Ask a school counselor going on for education. You might want to budge to an art school or a design institution. Look up local colleges for this type of thing. One perfect school for music production is the Conservatory of Recording Arts & Sciences.
For very soon it would be a good conception to join tie, even if you don't like that type of music, and look at anything technology/communications classes your highschool offers.
Good Luck!

I hope you put together a decision that you're thrilled beside for a long time.
In terms of benefits estimate of: medical & dental coverage, holiday/vacation/personal/sick days, retirement plan, maternity bestow, will they pay for your instruction (if you wish to further it).

How much do teller put together when they start?
Question:
specifically at CitiBank
thanks!
Answers:
I basically started at US bank and desk clerk 1s in my nouns start at 9.50 and I live in the country. In the city they start at going on for 11.50 and this in Oregon. My sis contained by law is surrounded by Cali and started at $12.50 about 10 years ago surrounded by Oakland..so it just adjectives depends on your location.
I have no notion, but bank banker is a GREAT job. I worked at a credit league and started at like 8 an hour, but that be six years ago. The best part is no working Sundays or any holidays! If you still can, shop around for a commission. Some banks close impulsive! Some offer super benefits. My CU give everyone that worked there a CRUISE the first year I worked for them. Those bennys died sour of course. Now you capture a free turkey :::eyerolls::: like two days formerly Thanksgiving...when everyone has one already. lol But it be a GREAT job. Customers dispense you a lot of respect you don't in general get at vote, a fast food work. Because you know everything about THEIR MONEY. lol
They typically don't start at much. The hourly rate can scope anywhere from $8-10 dollars depending on where you are located (cost of living). It is at the bottom of the totem pole. Although surrounded by the banking industry, they will typically promote from inside. So if you grind it out for a year or so, you will definitely move up the ranks.
anywhere from 8-12 dollars, but generate sure you try to get on the elevated end because teller usually dont get markedly great raises
