As a person who have been invited to a million home party (whether it's tupperware, longaberger, partyLite, liasophia, etc.), I don't like the awkwardness of going to someone's house and impression like I hold to spend money or feel resembling a heel.
Just something to think roughly speaking. I did know someone in partylite(just an acquaintance--not a close friend) and she did quit after a while. Lots of work for not a huge profit. After a while you run out of those to do parties for and you don't want to nag your friends. There are lots of things you can do to generate more money. If you're doing it to get a discount on the candle stuff..do a cost/benefit analysis. How much would you in reality be saving per year on this? How much candle stuff can you certainly own without your home looking similar to a PartyLite factory or without burning it down :-)
