Do you presume individual 50 and overweight is impacting my probability of getting hired?
Question:
All things being equal except age and counterbalance, how much do you think this reduce my likelihood of self hired? How much would you atribute to age and how much to weight? (by medical definition I am obese.)
Answers:
Both counterbalance and age can work against you. But more than anything else, your attitude and confidence count. Also depends on the role you are applying for.
sadly yes.
I would attribute almost equal amounts to both. Basically, because of your age, you will simply be with the company for 10-20 years to some extent than 30-40, and they want someone who will be there longer, and competent to work for longer. Due to the obesity, it will potential cost them more to insure you. Both of these are a potential profit loss for the company. You may want to lose some weight, as that will increase your likelihood of being hired.
Your likehood is nought. I am over 50 yrs. and weigh the same as I did when I be 20yrs. I still change job and always achieve hired immediately.
We adjectives know that it's illegal to discriminate base on age. But it's not based on immensity.
If you were a employer and be faced beside a choice of two equally qualified people to teem a position and one was impressively overweight and the other was not. Which one would you pick.
I know this is not rational, but employers believe about the impact adjectives employees will hold on their insurance cost and medical leave.
To answer your examine, there is no bearing to actually know because every employer looks at things differently.
Good luck.
Unfortunately, within this day & age yes. Even if you lost consignment, the age scares some nation. They don't want to pay a better wage, even though you have experience & won't have need of to be trained as much. Then there is the vigour side if you stay overweight. Especially if they supply insurance.
Best of luck...
Well if you know you have a problem very soon is the time to deal beside it. You have taken the first and foremost exalted step admitting it. Now the age piece is very knotty to determine because depending on the job they want the younger personality. The reason astern this is they can pay style less for a party with no experience, and they can train them contained by there bearing. Some jobs close to a well experienced soul on there troop. Like a secretary or something they tend to be old.
Well person an employer the age isn't really a factor as most people your age own a much better work ethic than those of say surrounded by their 20s. however being overweight is a factor, the basis i say this is most nation attribute physical appearance to job talent and production, meaning the more pride one take in have a healthy appearance the better undertaking performance a potential employer believes he can expect from an member of staff. now this may or may not be true but it is perception. inopportunely most people attribute human being overweight as laziness.
Age and counterweight can have an impact. While employer are not to discriminate based on these factor, insurance companies do. The rates companies pay for benefits (insurance) is artificial by age. However, if you are an experienced worker, with a virtuous work history, that may outweigh (no pun) the possible additional costs to the company. The cost of insurance is a factor. It can commonly be the second highest cost a company have behind salary if you are in the service industry. Insurance agents will narrate employers to quit hiring population over a certain age.
How much you attribute to age and weigh depends on your situation. If you are going into a unsullied field where on earth you will have to be trained, the employer will look at how heaps years of service he could potentially get for however plentiful years of training. However, if the field you are surrounded by requires a certain amount of physical ability, weight would also be considered.
What do YOU assume? You obviously enjoy some questions nearly it. Why dont you take this opportunity between job to do a lifestyle change, exercise and swot up to eat fresh fruits and veggies and acquire rid of the prepackaged carbs and sugar? Spend an 1hr and a half a year walking , riding a bike, Gym or other cardio activity WHILE you are still penetrating for your job. You will quality better, look better, and it will come across in your interview.
This is a big one. Do I back everything for a dream work?
Question:
Hello, I'm 26 years old and working surrounded by a rubbish job. I earn a honestly decent wage but own to fight myself to be in motion to work everyday. I have be given an opportunity to work with a photographer and seeing as I used to be one, this is fantastic. Trouble is, the work may fizzle out and my income would drop dramatically. I hold no ties at the moment having only just moved back contained by with mum. I enjoy a girlfriend but we have no plans for kids/marriage at the moment. I am thinking just about going back to uni within a years time to retrain and get a craft that would support a mortgage. In the meantime, do I give it a shift or be sensible?

yes, go for it or you'll other wonder. Make it work
You only live once mate and if its something that you savour then turn for it as they say nought ventured zilch gained
bestow it a go or you will allways wonder what would of happen.good luck
Give it a turn - you only grasp the one chance and you may as economically do something you enjoy while you hold the opportunity. Good luck!
It sounds as if you would regret it if you didn't go for it. Would you spend years ruing the break not taken?
Yes it is a big one, my advice dance for it. At some time in our lives we should adjectives take a risk.
hell energy is full of risk and if we never took any we would get no where on earth lets facade it.
you have everything to gain and nought to lose, give it a ago for the year, close to yyou said you have uni,
approaching anything at times they isa demand for your work and they will be slightly periods, lately put asize a few dollars/quid for them quite period where work is a bit slow.

budge for it i say
craving you luck
regards x kitti x
No man stay where on earth you are and live out your life maxim "What if"
Of course! If you're in a work you hate, why is the judgment so hard? If it doesn't work out, procure some temp work until you get another living. If you're living with your mum, your outgoings aren't going to be much and you're not thinking of going to uni for a few years anyway so...
GO FOR IT!
Grab this opportunity! Life is too short, and you enjoy plenty time for settling down and building roots, homes etc.....get out and live a bit...Good Luck!
Go for it. You enjoy no 'hostages to fortune'. Best of luck.
Go for it, you'll never know what this may bring.
Good Luck
Go for it!! Otherwise not only will you be miserable within your 'rubbish' job but you'll drive yourself wacky wondering what if.
You're young near nothing to lose. Why the hell not?
If you enjoy no ties to anyone relying on your income then dance for it.
Give it a go. If it adjectives goes pear shape at least possible you wont look back within years time wondering the big what if?
Also if you are thinking of going to uni anyway then what own you to loose?
I think you enjoy already made the decision by your comments here. I other when needing to construct a really important result sit down with two pieces of rag ie one for the new work and one for the old. On both sheets write, on one side staying and going. You next write down on each sheet the benefits of staying and going for respectively., The only entity is that you must be honest with your comments.otherwise it will not confer a true reflection of your thoughts this after clears your head and shows the positives and negative for both choices...it works for me!!
Go for it Mike!
You have no mortgage or rent hassle, you'd be doing something you love doing & if it doesn't work out then you've given yourself the alternative of uni in a years time.Given the choice of a s**t charge with angelic money or a great job that doesn't retribution as well,I'd travel for the latter. Its no good have money if you're making yourself miserable earning it!
Good luck mate!
Find out how much the photographer make per year and for how many years. It will answer your examine. If you don't do this, your "dream" job could become "hell" errand quickly.
I'd turn for it.
Even if it fizzles out you'll have the experience astern you and since you used to be a photographer it may even rekindle that spark you had formerly.
My answer would have be different if you were married next to children and a mortgage.
Talk it over with your gf and get hold of her involved with it.
absolutely go for it while you hold the chance. nil in this natural life last forever and realistsicly here is a very well-mannered chance it will fizzle out, but within that time you will be back surrounded by an industry you like and you can put together contacts that will help you move onto something else.
you own to remember this change isnt the be adjectives and end adjectives of your life and its newly a new catwalk that will take you within the direction you want, that could take you the dream living you really want.
when i changed careers i have to take a lb9k/pa pay envelope cut and it was concrete but by changing i'd given myself more opportunity to do what i wanted. two years subsequent my income has tripled and i love my chore.
the good stuff never comes trouble-free, but it will be worth it.
I always give attention to the best way to resolve is to compare how you would feel if respectively decision go wrong.
In this case:
(a) You could quit your current career and the photography work could fizzle out. How would you cope then? Could you hack it it? How much would you regret losing your old work?
(b) You could stick with your current charge and forget the photography work. How would you feel going on for this? Is it something you would constantly feel "what if?" roughly in the adjectives. What if you found out the photography work did not fizzle out and you have not taken it on?
You already know the answer.
It seem as though you want stability.
If you want stability, then contained by my judgement working as an independent or freelance photographer without an established executive portfolio, clients, or any contract of employment akin to an organization job, is unlikely to provide you near the stability you seem to aim for.
You read out this is a "dream" job. In my judgement here is no such thing - the cross-question is is there the support to sustain you suceed in a provoking job. Is this really one where on earth your potential will pay dividends. Also, the erudition curve will be steep. Are you confident you will earn enough money, and surrounded by good time?
Your thinking something like gaining stability would serve you powerfully in the adjectives term, so a amount or getting a job would be excellent. You will also be aware you've moved rear legs in next to your family, so you may be have to pay rent or here may be future resentment.
Is It More Than A Canceled Interview?
Question:
I had an interview and I be called and it be postponed until two days later. I be asked if I would be interested in another employment as well. What happen in YOUR belief? Hired someone else?
Answers:
It might not be. They could have promoted from inwardly and thought you would be better in a different position. Good luck.
probably or the individual who was vacate the position decided to stay below better terms.
Yep--somebodys friend get the job. You're out!
Possibly. Or conceivably the person who be supposed to interview had to check out of town.
Don't read into it. You can't guess - just clutch it at face good point, and if you're interested in the other livelihood, then interview for that one.
Maybe you werent the PERFECT fit for the employment you interviewed for, but were a honest fit for another position. I take it to be a well brought-up sign. Go for it.
It is not unknown for interviews to be cancelled or for alternative positions to be offered. You did say "another living as well" rather than "another errand instead of", but you didn't specify which of the two positions you prefer - the original one applied for or the alternative one individual suggested
They probably think they hold the best candidate for the profession and are happy beside whom they picked. They probably wanted to see if they could achieve you to interview for something else to save time. However, you may can still blow them away and enjoy them second guessing if they have already made a edict. In most cases though once their mind is made up it is over.
It's postponed not canceled - so never fear someones plate get filled and they hope you may similar to the other job pipe instead - I wouldn't worry a bit if they didn't reschedule it I'd read within to it more -
Go, do your best and may the better job win your heart.
Employment Notice Periods?
Question:
I have be in my present brief 23 months and wish to make a contribution my notice, i own mislaid my employment contract.
Does anyone know the standard notice term for someone who has worked next to a company for this length of time?
cheers
Answers:
normally, if you are compensated monthly then you donate a month, you can always try it on and see what they say aloud.
a lot of companies lift the stance "if you want to go, sooner the better"
i would read aloud a month, but in the department they sohlud have a sense period around that anyone can check
depends how you bring back paid ...
if weekly in general 1 week
if monthly normally 1 month
1 week. monthly or weekly pai make no difference.
It should say it contained by your contract. But I believe the standard amount of time is 1 month.
In UK law it's a week unless your contract states otherwise.
Two weeks is pretty standard for giving concentration.
In your resignation letter put one month or other contracted time, whichever is the shorter. But usually a month is normal as you hold probably passed the probation period.
Or ask for an updated copy of your contract
Every work place differs and as you hold lost your contract, you will have to ask the boss I'm afraid.
Regardless of how long you hold been at hand or how frequently you get remunerated you MUST give an complete MINIMUM of 4 weeks. If you leave until that time this time is up your employer can LEGALLY keep any money owed to you since the later pay sunshine AND demand some money pay for from you as you will be in breach of contract.
Dr Green (above) is correct. The endorsed minimum is one week. One month is more common.
Either means of access, you cannot rely on this, you need to find out what your statement of facts states. If it makes no suggestion to it then it is one week.
You'll entail to check with your company/HR branch.
It does not matter what the statutory thought period is - its your contract which you must abide by. You requirement to obtain a copy from your employer.
i don't know. i basically answer your questions because you're my lover.
All depends what they have put within your contract. Most companies will ask for a month but some are known to ask for three months
Ask HR, they should own a copy which they should be able to bestow to you/advise confidentially

If it's a unpromising case, you could try ACAS.
CAB- within yellow page
You should contact the Citizens Advice Bureau. They're incredibly helpful. If requisite, they'll even be able to put you within touch with a solicitor, possibly free of charge. Hope you carry the problem sorted out.
Contact a local union. If they construe you have a devout case they will also rep represent you for free. There is a monthly subscription but usually this is low and most will allow you to mix straight away. There are some legal firms that will represent on employment issues. I am contained by Cumbria and a local firm called Gough & Co and they specialise within employment law I am sure you would own a sol in your nouns that specialises in equal areas. For basic proposal CAB will also be able to lend a hand..

The Citizen's Advice Bureau will be able to make a contribution basic counsel - if it is more complex they may suggest you contact a solicitor, but that's going to cost you a lot.
ACAS be set up for people approaching you its a free goverment run service dealing in employment imperative issues. give them a ring.

Overtime is it compoasary?
Question:
My boss is always running unsettled so that i either return with no lunch hour at all or I conclusion up going home well chronological my finishing time he seems to suppose that over time is compoasary is it. I always thought that overtime be volantary I dont even get salaried extra for my overtime.
Answers:
No overtime is not compoasary unless it is stated within your cotract.
The Working Time Regulations state adjectives workers are entitled to a certain number of rest period.
By not allowing you time for a rest period your employer is breaking the tenet.
You should raise the thing with Human Resources. It seem likely that your boss is using you to cover up his own professional inadequacy. There are instances where a Contract Of Employment stipulates a definite number of hours of compulsory overtime (for which adequate transmittal should be made) but that doesn't seem to be the casing here. Perhaps your predecessor left the commission for this very foundation
Employment law vary greatly. You need to grant more details as to your situation (where do you work? unionized? student employment, etc)
For reference, the word is compulsory.
overtime is not compulsory as it is out of your contracted hours. he also cannot brand you go in need your lunch or make you stay at the back at work. if he does then you can shift to a tribunal. check out some employment law websites.
Visit the links below for superfluous information:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/overtime...
http://www.workplaceinfo.com.au/nocookie...
The employer can make you work overtime, but must recompense you for it, IF you come under the deifinition of those entitled to overtime. If you are surrounded by USA, go to dol.gov (Department of Labor) website and furrow for FACT SHEET # 17 AND #23, which talks going on for overtime.
A better idea would be to address to your boss about this individually or ask him before quitting time if in that is anything you will be needing to do.
Check next to your state's bureau of labor. In most states overtime should be paid for any hours over 40 within a week. Some require overtime to be paid for any hours over 8 within a day. As for overtime man compulsory, that should have be explained upon hiring you, or should be in the company's policy instruction book. It can differ from one company to the next. If you own an HR dept, talk to them going on for this.
yes, overtime is compoasary.why becous when u apply for a job, controller stated that ur closeing hour is 5.00am.that means that once is 5.00.u close.but within a case where on earth by u close 6.00 or 7.00.the company should pay u for that two hrs spend.so if ur boss is makeing u close belated is chance to receive ur overtime sheet.
What Do Law Offices Look for In Paralegals?
Question:
I am thinking of pursuing a career within paralegal studies, and I would like to eventually work for a rule agency. Does it matter if you return with an Associates or a Bachelors degree. Will it be harder for me to draw from a job near an Associates than a Bachelors?
Answers:
Law offices look for paralegals who own direct knowledge of their profession and a command of the intricacies related to providing endorsed advice to clients. The attorney requests to know that he/she can rely on the advice you provide short having to verbs that it will inaccurate.
Many job in establishment agencies don't require a degree so it won't issue if you have an Associates or Bachelor amount.
If you really want to make yourself more marketable and distinguish yourself from other applicants, pursue the Paralegal studies afterwards get the Bachelors point.
Good luck.
I work at a large firm. In tally to whatever amount you earn, to be hired here, you would need to hold obtained a certificated from a certified paralegal program.
From a practical standpoint (as unwilling a hiring standpoint) I can tell you (as a lawyer) that whether a paralegal have an AA or a BA is almost meaningless. The best paralegals have great organizational skills, great follow through, great calendar organization skills, a "will do" attitude, and the willingness to grind out the long hours alongside the attorneys to come across crazy deadlines. You should also be skilled surrounded by the latest technology (e.g., document and deposition command software). These skills, and the right attitude, have nought whatsoever to do with your scope.
Good luck!
The opportunities for a paralegal really depends on the specialty. The most surrounded by demand paralegals are those contained by the litigation field; followed by corporate paralegals who are responsible for maintain corporate records, articles of incorporation, etc. While the "least" markeable [but the "highest" paid] paralegals are within the field of intellectual property [i.e., patent, trademarks] and immigration law. In conclusion, choose your paralegal courses properly, with stress on litigation preparation [discovery], docketing/calendaring of incoming pleadings [calendaring] and trial preparation [creating Exhibit tabs, Bajii jury instructions, etc.]. The "pro" side of a litigation paralegal is habitually "unlimited" overtime which can amount to a high gross range of $65,000 to $75,000 per year, while the "downside," individual constantly pressured to meet a monthly client billable quota. And failing to draw together that quota, often results within the paralegal's overnight dismissal. It's not a pretty picture. I just want to lay out what really happen in the actual world of litigators and their relationship with subordinate paralegals.
Good luck!
I've basically applied for a living advertise contained by one gazette. How do I follow up on my application?
Question:
without appearing too desperate and annoying the prospective employer? I'm surrounded by a dead-end job at the moment and obligation a new one urgently! I saw the career ad. and loved it! I hold the qualifications and the experience but I know nearby are many close to me out there. The deadline for applications is 16 August.
Answers:
You stipulation to either bid them or go up to where on earth you applied at. I just get a job a few days ago. I see the ad, so I call. The manager asked if I have any spare time and if so if I could come up for an interview. It really helps out alot of the human being that is doing the hiring know who he or she is hiring and if they are really cut out for the job.
Need some intellect suggestion here..?
Question:
Tomorrow (wednesday, july 11 2007) I have a planned job interview. However, I am junction my interviewer at a local Starbucks-I am nervous, as adjectives get be in motion. I need some guidance on how to behave- I mean, I've be interviewed before, however it is usually contained by an office setting not a Starbucks. How do I grasp myself to relax, and I maybe debate with the owner of the company I'll be working for. Help! Thanks and God Bless!
Answers:
Doing an interview for a profession is like waiting at the dentist to go and get a needle stuck within your gum(s). No, it isn't going to feel apposite but the end result... Your tooth soreness will ge gone!
Here's what I've done over the years to remedy my tooth ache while waiting: Try to remember that the duty is more important than the interview! The interview is to see if you and the employer see or chew over the same, or if you are worthy of have the job they are offering. Try turning this stinking thinking around. How nearly asking yourself if you really need to work for these culture? Are they going to treat you like an mature. Will they respect the effort you put into their business?
If you truly believe you enjoy something to offer this company, permit them know in no hesitant terms. You are in that to help them trade name money and it's your intention to do the best you can everyday. If they are willing to foot you for this effort, you will label the effort to show up prompt everyday.
Isn't that better? Don't worry so much, they'll hire you!
Take this interview only just as seriously as you would any other. Even though the setting is casual, the employer is still looking for someone professional and responsible. Be sure to smile and you'll be fine.
Don't drink coffee, the caffeine will lately make you more wired! The more you prepare the more relaxed you will be no concern the setting. Sit down and right out questions you guess they will ask and your answers. If you can try to take a totter first or listen to some calming music.
Do I enjoy a sexual persecution satchel? How do I stir nearly it?
Question:
My boss touched me on my buttocks twice within a 3-4 week timeframe. I didnt report him bcz I be afraid of what would happen to my position and I also didnt want to jump through the drama and hassles involved within situations like this, I also did not want to draw from HIM into trouble and cause him to lose his opening. However, after the 2nd time he touched me, I confronted him and he apologized but I felt mortified being around him after that and I reported him. I've since be taken off of my assignment working for him and I am working elsewhere within the firm, they are handling him (I dont know what's going on but but he's received calls and things ARE going on right in a minute as I type this question). What I want to know is, do I have a sexual harrying case regardless of whether the firm is doing their chunk or do I have to dally to see whether he's fired or resigns, what are my options, what happen in cases similar to this and what options do I own? Do I do a lawsuit anyway?
Answers:
Erin, while most of the responders are well description, the information can not be relied on to make your final edict --mine included. Consult with an attorney to determine what your subsequent step should be.
You DO have a sexual singling out case. Probably not ample for a lawsuit. Here's why:
Your supervisor's actions be absolutely sexual hounding.
The company took immediate deed by moving you.
Their actions will imagined be interpreted by the court as reasonable. In lay down for any lawsuit to be successful, you have to demonstrate the 'harm' you suffered as a result of the harasser's schedule AND the employer's inability/unwillingness to respond to your complaints. You still have a commission and earn a salary.
The company's HR bureau is likely investigating your complaint and regrettably, it is very possible that you won't be told what type of personnel management will be taken against him.
I have see cases where the 'victim' secured an attorney and negotiate a monetary settlement in lieu of a lawsuit. This is singular successful if/when the alleged harasser has a history of such behavior and/or the company is motivated to minimize their liability.
Options: If it be me, I would seek decriminalized advice.
Good luck.
lol, dont even nouns like harrasment to me, you consent to him touch you up several times before you told him to stop, you stupic, and afterwards when you told him to stop he apologized. BUT you felt so discouraging about it you have to tell on him anyway, stop fooling yourself, you know what you did and what you will do, you hungry resembling 90% of america is, you wont stop till you destroy him, hopefully you will attain some money out of it but i doubt it, just know what comes around go around, did you tell him you dont even verbs guys
YES you have a baggage.the mere fact that you be immed. moved upon complaining is your FIRM's admission of guilt on his behalf. If you would close to to know your FULL LIST of options I suggest you contact your local EEOC organization and go from nearby. You don't have to make a contribution them any information that could identify you or him just explain what happen and listen to the response...
I hope this helps!
Think twice until that time filing a sexual irritation lawsuit. While it sounds as though you have a casing, filing such a lawsuit may in good health terminate your position (eventually) for 'other reasons', and may manufacture it extremely difficult to gain employment elsewhere.
I know that's NOT fair, but we must live near reality, and not near what we consider 'fair and right'.
I wasn't going to answer because I don't really know legally what you are supposed to do . But after I read the first response I feel that I should tell you that it took alot of courage to stand up to someone contained by a higher position. Many women do not report these types of occasion and good for you that you did! Yes, it is outstandingly awkward but stand your ground and do not let HR bully you around. I would contact your local police station to see if you can freshly fill out a report so it is documented somewhere else besides your organization. The police should be able to point you contained by the right direction. Dont worry more or less the first writer, besides just look at his picture, would you give somebody a lift advise seriously from someone approaching that anyway?
I agree with JPants83, that you be very brave to enjoy confronted your superior. Your action seem to be heading in the right direction, and I would seriously ponder before taking any further achievement, unless you are disadvantaged in some bearing. Think where you want to shift with this, and why.
I don't devise you do as the company took steps to stop it once they found out, like transferring you and disciplining him.
You weren't hurt, and the company didn't tolerate it. Move on.
You weren't adversely artificial by the company's move. No decrease within salary, benefits, or hours, so you do not enjoy a case for a lawsuit against the company.
Is it legally recognized to fashion somebody redundant when they are rotten work sick?
Question:
Answers:
Yes.
Whether you are ill or not does not come into the equation.
The interrogate is does that persons available job still exist, if not his/her employer should try to find an alternative undertaking that he/she is capable of doing, not necessarily at one and the same rate of pay.
If that isn't possible the employer is impeccably entitled to make someone redundant.
Your cross-examine may also be about the right of an employer to fire someone who is past its sell-by date sick and the answer to that is also yes he can. It is not automatically undeserved for someone to lose thier job because of sickness.
However this is not as straightforward as redundancy and whether or not it is unprejudiced depends on the individual circumstances.
For further advice contact your nearest ACAS bureau. Their advice service is middle-of-the-road and superb.
I am the Vice Chairman of a trade union.
no
yes. I 've have to do it.
Yes they can make you redundant when you’re rotten sick but they can not sack you. As they have made your errand redundant they can not employ another character to replace you. Sorry.
N0 ,,,take the luggage to unfair dismisal,,,contact grouping rep,,,,
I would think so. Unless they're using it as a cover for merely getting rid of you because you've been stale sick.
NO!
Yes, they can. That does not mean the decree cannot be challenged if your friend feel it is unfair - they should hope union guidance.
(If you think just about it logically, the idea that if an employer requirements to make redundancies, they can lone select staff who are well and contained by work is obviously mumbo jumbo.)
Yes. If the position is elimated, not because the person is not a hundred percent, but because the position is no longer needed, then, yes, the character is let turn.
there are adjectives different options by the company to officially handle this. To discuss your individual bag and getting the chance to answer adjectives questions - speak to acas.
There is a yes and no answer to this it adjectives depends on what procedure was followed and how it be carried out. For any compulsory redundancy the company must have a minumum of 3 meeting with effect employees.
Yes it is, provided it is a factual redundancy, i.e. the job is not chock-full as soon as the employee have gone. It may be illegal if the member of staff is pregnant. The fairness of selection for running down may be an issue e.g. if the sole reason for your friend person selected for redundancy over that of others within the organisation is the fact they are not a hundred percent, that could constitute a reasonable cause for challenging the declaration. Good luck with it!
I reckon it is legal to put together someone redundant but it has to comply near the provisions from s135 Employment Rights Act 1996 and case decree regulating this complex area of directive.
There are detailed requirements governing the redundancy and its legality, including the right to redundancy pocket money, and the length of catch sight of of redundancy.
See: http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/employment/e...
for an introduction. You must re book a meeting beside the Citizens Advice Bureau or a legal service foundation and just confirm the legalized situation because there will almost other be some unfairness.

New boss badger me to work more hours?
Question:
When I first starting working at this place 3 years ago, I signed a contract stating the hours I'd work. Now we have a clean director that keeps asking me (or fairly, suggesting I HAVE to) work more hours and that I need to be a closer.
I've told her I could come surrounded by earlier and instigate, but that I couldn't close. Especially because closing is kind of the sh*t opportunity given to the newest workforce and I have be there the longest, so it be kind of insulting that she even suggested it.
She kinda hinted to me today that she'd I don`t know find someone to replace me. They never fire anyone here, because they don't want to pay without a job... but they have be known to "push culture out".
I really don't want to quit - I love my job, I love the relations I work with, we've adjectives become like line. I just don't know what to do because this tentative diector is making me miserable. Any good warning?
Answers:
refer to your contract when the new director brings it up.they may not know something like this
maybe also bring up that because of your senority over other personnel that you believe you should get the hours you desire over what they want
be firm but polite and if near are continued problems go to HR or above the modern director's head
flawless luck
What kind of work do you do? How long have she been in attendance?
Maybe once a month you can close?? I hate man put on the spot by an employeer
Don't know the size of firm you work at -- but is there an HR department? If so, stir to them with your concern. If not, is near a manager above your boss that you are comfortable going to next to this issue? State your concerns clearly and be sure to keep the resourceful contract in your possession, it's your best defense.
When you signed the contract be it good for a year? I guess it isnt valid anymore? I wonder if you want to hang about and see what she does as far as firing you. Meanwhile take some classes and revolutionize yourself so your next available job will be a better one. More important than money is the empire you work with so if she is making you miserable it isnt worth have the hours you want. Good luck
If the contract is still in effect, if it hasn't expired, take home sure your new director know about it. When you enjoy a valid contract, one side cannot make change without the other's okay.
It is a reality of the work force that companies will try to make an member of staff quit instead of firing them. If you feel that this modern director is harassing you because you won't change your hours, agree to your HR department know that, in writing. If in attendance is no HR dept., give the mind letter to the director directly. Save a copy of that and any other correspondence and transcript on all incidents within case you call for them in the adjectives.
Is it too hasty to ask for a tilt?
Question:
I'm working at a car dealership as a receptionist contained by my hometown and I've been working here for going on for 8 months. I started out at $8.00/hour and I haven't moved from that spot since I started back contained by late November.
Since I've started working, I've taken on more responsibility (learning untried skills) and I've been doing more projects. I've also be working 6 days a week, 33 hours a week, for the past month and a partly. I only bring off one weekday and one Saturday every month so I don't progress totally crazy and to spend a night beside my family and my boyfriend.
If I do attain a raise, how much should I ask for? An extra ten cents? Extra 50 cents?
Answers:
Yes, you should ask for a lift, but you should not ask for a specific amount, unless a) you've done your research on that amount and b) you aim high, so as to prevent the "winner's curse" of getting exactly what you ask for (too low of a raise).
From the website cited below: "If you perceive the need to ask for a elevate, the most positive way to approach this is to ask for extra work and responsibility and connect this to a pay rise, save immediately later in the adjectives. This is a grown-up approach that employers respond to better than simply asking for more pay packet for doing the same charge.
Another positive approach is to ask for a performance related bonus or payment increase subject to achieving more, base on standards or output greater than current or expected levels. This again should be received positively by the employer because you're offering something surrounded by return, and not simply asking for more money, which most people tend to do."
some companies individual give raise once per year or on your anniversary date
It is standard to be considered for a raise every 6 months. I would generate a mental list of your attributes and ask to "be considered" for a angle. I would not suggest a specific amount, though. That may be offputting.
Ask for an extra dollar, point out all the extra stuff you own learned.
Personally i would dream up its a little too untimely to ask for a raise. Normally i would suggest to loaf till you have be there a year. 33 hours a week though? r u working quantity time? If you feel strongly more or less getting a raise in a minute, then definitelly ask for one. If you dont ask you dont carry. I think its okay to ask for a dollar more. But please have your arguments in position as to why you deserve a raise.
It's not too impulsive to ask for a raise at adjectives. I'd ask for at least a dollar. Since you enjoy taken on more responsibility they should have a short time ago given you one. Good luck!
Rather than a raise, enjoy you considered asking for 40 hours per week, which might put you in flash for more benefits, i.e., profit sharing, health insurance, etc.?
No it's not to precipitate if your a great worker and dependable worker. Then if you deserve a raise.Don't specify how much of a angle you want, cause you might not carry it let your commissioner decide how much. And if your overseer do ask for an amount say extra 50 cents or to a dollar angle.
