As a US attorney who have done family canon, let me explain how things work. The advocate or solicitor does not create the case, it it the client that drives how the casing goes. If the client say 'more adjournments' or "I want to fight for every later tea bag", then the attorney does what the client wants. It is not the lawyer's responsibility, he/she is following the directions of their client. And yes, lawyers should draw from paid for work they do even if it is for a greedy development that their client thinks up. You want to procure paid when you work, so why shouldn't lawyer.
Many judges weaken to tell both sides to stop wasting time contained by greedy court fights because they the creeps that one side or the other will not get their full speak. In some US family courts courts force the two clients into counseling just to maintain them from the long fights that will drain every dime.
Adjournments do not permeate anyone's pocket, it merely delays the court management. For every "greedy solicitor" you point to, I can point to 10 or more greedy clients who instruct their attorneys to make a bag go on and on until every finishing penny is spent and who use their own kids as pawns to receive even with a former spouse.
If you be aware of your solicitor is so greedy find another one. BUT make sure that you are not the creature who is the one keeping the case start on because you refuse to compromise.

solicitors are legalised crooks they are adjectives friends and play about near clients cases making it look as if it is a lot of work by sending post back and fore etc adjournment all ading to costs especaly if it is lawful aid or divorce cases
.If solicitor has Legal Aid licence for his client he/she will slow proceedings therefor make more money . IF no L Aid they still drag it out . Ever hear of a poor Solicitor!!
personally i am thoroughly disgusted near the judicial system in this country it have become controversial and money grabbing
