Advice on working as a personal watchfulness provider for Pt. w/ A.L.S.?
Question:
I am considering taking a position working 12-hours a week (4-10 p.m.) for a woman who has A.L.S. (Lou Gerhig's). Today be my first day of training for 3-hours. I am to return on Sunday and Monday for more training. This woman's caution involves bed ban, moving her, giving her meds and soft meals through her feed tube, care of her breathing tube, and machines and profusely of other specific care.
I am not an aide, never mind a nurse! This is a woman living contained by a private residence (son's home) and I am concerned about the allowed side of all of this. I reason there are reason companies that provide medical care are licenced and bonded and insured.
I inevitability advice from reader to help me granted if accepting this job could be dicey for me to do. I am a single mother raising my son by myself. This leisure job would aid me enormously but if I could be sued I don't want to consider it.
Do any of you hold experience or knowledge you could share beside me?
Answers:
These are things that many domestic members swot up how to do. If you receive specific training you should be able to revise how to do most of these tasks. However, what you need to watch out of is that you do not try to change or alter any of the thoroughness without first consulting the line and medical professional. The family requirements to understand that you are not a trained professional and you are near to do the job as they and/or the medical professionals dictate. Therefore, I would win something in writing stating that you should not be expected to be capable of recognize change in medical status that would customarily be observable by a trained medical professional (including many conditions that can be lifethreatening). In otherwords, you are individual responsible for what they teach you.
Is paralegal the right paddock for me? grant me your opinion!?
Question:
I'm at a crossroads right now. I lately graduated next to a BA in Communications/Journalism. I love writing and reading, research - it's the solitary thing I'm really apposite at. But let's be realistic, the pen of full time journalism isn't paying well at the present time. I also have an AA contained by Journalism. I was childlike when I got that amount around 19, now I'm mid 20's. I'm considering going to grasp my AA in paralegal studies. I really construe my 'calling' is in that paddock. What do you think? do you cogitate I should get my scope in paralegal? I'm have so much trouble finding work (and yes I've been looking). paralegal program at my comm. college have automatic job placement. bequeath me some guidance, thanks
Answers:
If you love research, after this could be your field. You own to learn a great deal of law, and you enjoy to love digging though legislation and case regulation to find the answers you're looking for. Lots of legwork and lots of time at the law library, but the worthy news is paralegals are more and more surrounded by demand now as they take like mad of the load rotten the lawyers. And I meditate we all know how busy lawyer are these days - especially within a busy metro like NYC!
Do you know any paralegals? Why don't you cooperate to one and pick their brains and their feelings roughly being a paralegal and see if it suits you.
At your age breed your career, if you really want to be a writer find a way, work on a small tabloid, join the peace corps and experience a different element of the world. write about your experience. There is one entity you must do, do it with a keenness, with your heart. Not because it pays the bills. You own a chance few folks take or even sanction to do your career beside a passion formerly it is tooo late.
Think more or less it a bit. No regrets.
My passion, numbers and calculation, my job? An accountant since 1978, I don't gripe just about my work, I may gripe about the associates I work with. But, I don't gripe around my work. I love my work.
Good luck.
forget about paralegal studies. Go to regulation school and get hold of your law level.
I do not know what city you live in, but see if where on earth you got your BA surrounded by journalism in tender a paralegal program.
If not, then shift for the criminal justice program within a four year college. Since you have a BA adjectives ready, the with the sole purpose classes you would need are the trial classes to get your BA contained by either criminal equality or even in pre-law.
You can even do these classes on vein in any 4 year college that offer these programs.
If the college is offer a paralegal program next if you want you can just walk for the certificate as in good health.
Good Luck to you. Yes since you like research and you love to read and write, the regulation field is the place to be.
At tiniest you can write well -- so masses people can't do that now. I don't see a problem finding a job contained by a law firm, but you may find that, to some extent than going to school, some attorneys will train their own paralegals. You enjoy a degree, and can write, and they can instruct you the rest.
Good Luck!!
We don't hire paralegals in our organization. We make them. I can do the research myself from my desk on Westlaw, Lexis and other cites.
Personally, I train our trial secretaries to be paralegals. I do not like AA degree from unkown schools and online school. Better get some material life experience and conjecture about whether you want a paralegal scope or a law point.
Law school is simply three years. Two and a half if you cram it.
I can also hire statute clerks for much cheaper that what I would pay paralegals.
There are also heaps jobless attorneys. They will work for $20.00 per billable hour.
Please answer. Is becoming a nurse really worth it?
Question:
I COMPLETELY want to become an RN but recently I took sort of an 'internship' contained by the hospital where I would want to work at and found that it seem to be a dull and hard-working position.
I thought it was conceivably just the floor I be working on or the hospital I was at but I also volunteer at a hospital surrounded by another city and it just seem to be the same near too.
Please don't get me wrong, the thought of helping relatives and devoting my time to them is practically what I love to do.
But I am just afraid I will lug four years of my life to become a nurse and when I finally procure to be one, I will regret it.
If their are any RN's out there, please permit me know if becoming a nurse is really worth it. Does it get better? Thank-you!
Answers:
There is a movement toward community-based strength care, so contained by the future here may more opportunities within public health areas. So within will be no problem for you to get a brief, unlike others who can't get one at adjectives.
Nursing requires a lot of physical buzz. There is a great deal of standing, bending, and lifting. It can be emotionally demanding, especially if you are working next to severely ill or dying patients. Of course, it can also be a tremendously rewarding profession.
Occupational hazard for nurses are similar to those of other health workers. They include contact next to patients who have infectious diseases such as hepatitis and tuberculosis and injury from instruments, chemicals, and gas.
Some nurses work very irregular hours. Those who work contained by hospitals or nursing homes may work 12 hour shifts, including nights or weekends. Others, such as those contained by community centers, may have more regular schedule. Most full-time nurses work between 35 and 45 hours a week and have between 15 and 30 leave days a year.
I am not a nurse. But two of my cousins are. We have a own flesh and blood blog to keep us within touch and this is a quote from one of them.
“What I dislike about nursing as a profession is, first bad, time. You never have adequate time to do everything that you want. You find yourself running short of time and only competent to give the most essential aspects of your contemplation and health culture and not do everything that you feel you should. So, that’s the prime drawback with nursing.
Another drawback beside nursing, respect. Sometimes the profession is not accorded the respect that it should be. It doesn’t happen particularly often, but when it does you really grain it.
What I like in the region of nursing, as a profession, is that, first, you can help inhabitants. That is, you can help them by relieving their misery, giving them medication. You can help them next to their anxiety about their condition condition by talking to them in the order of it, giving them comfort. And you can also help their family.
Another thing something like nursing is that you can always be research and you never have a dull moment. You can work contained by different areas, you can specialize—like emergency, or cancer, or surgical—and you can work at whatever gait you want in the nouns that you choose. I work in emergency at the moment.
And lastly, it’s terrifically portable. Nursing is a profession that you can use across borders. I've given that alot of thought, so you guys might be making overseas phone calls to me!”
She told me she like it overall because the pros outweighs the cons and she couldn't see herself doing anything better.
I really hope this helps you. I guess it's polite for you that I came across your sound out, haha. =)
My friend shes 20 is an RN she 's really smart and became one pretty much straight out of lofty school, she attended college for a minute. She makes $25 an hour, but sometimes I deduce her job is worse than mine ( I'm a dishwasher) She deal with patients adjectives day. Lots of times she tell me she hates her employment. She deals next to patient death and mental patients. I can tell she is stressed sometimes. Shes thinking just about quitting her job and previously she was thinking in the region of choosing a new careerpath adjectives together.so is it worth it to make that much $$$ idk
You enjoy to remember that being an "intern" contained by any business is usual dull. The interns are given the jobs that nobody wishes to do. Also, people aren't asking you to work on patients or achieve involved in cases where on earth you would feel rewarded. You don't own the experience yet. You also don't hold a degree, so you're fixed in your contact near patients.
I'm not a nurse, but I know people who are.
I read out it's worth it. Most nurses make between 60K-80K right out of college. Plus, they usually receive a 5K cash sign on bonus.
I'm 15 looking for a post, but its unyielding motive im not 16.So do you anyplace that'll hire?
Question:
Answers:
Are you smart? Because if you are smart and organized, it should be good to tutor a local boy or girl. I suggest doing the lesson 2 times a week for 20 bucks respectively, so you'd get 40 bucks every week. Thanks.
Not the most exciting or glorious job, but fast food usually hires at 15. They own tighter restrictions on the hours you can work and the equipment you can use. All in adjectives, it is a decent starter position.

Workplace cross-examine: Now that we enjoy a unusual boss, our supervisors are friendly towards us ?
Question:
Why the sudden change of attitude ?
It seem fishy to me.
Answers:
I need more info.
Scenario 1: The current boss may be making changes and seeing as how the supervisors weren't doing economically in their headship style they may be trying to show they can change by superficially human being nice.
Scenario 2: the last boss be such a butthead that the supervisors couldn't be themselves and were excluded to get out of smudge with what their boss looked-for. Now that jerkboy has moved out your superviors are free to be themselves.
later.Well, the more information you grant the more puzzled I become.
It could be that the new boss made it a policy. It could be that the outdated boss was a shake. It could be that the supervisors are worried about their positions.
I wouldn't verbs about it too much -- offer it time and see if the attitude change sticks around.
Fishy, indeed...
Well it sure is fishy ... budge to them and ask them to be mean another time If that is what you resembling from them.
Perhaps that style of management works devout for you .
I was thinking of the looking a offering horse in the mouth ...
powerfully, if i was your supervisor, i wouldn't wanna do something to piss you bad...especially since with the strange boss, we are both at risk of being kicked out...

You call for to pass our examinations first.
And a straightforward requirement before you even sit the exams is you obligation to be able to speak and write using correct English and grammer. If you don't know this you won't even bring past the first take.
We have a totally different system over here and are more advanced than countries such as Nepal and India, as a consequence you may be reconised by India but not Australia. Meaning you will need to gain education for our system before you start working here to gain experience. But with the sole purpose after passing the exams.
It won't be trouble-free but Australia has a first class medical system.
I involve warning from court reporters within southern california!?
Question:
i am reallly considering becoming a court reporter. i am in the riverside / moreno dale area of southern california. if you are a court reporter or are within school to become one please aid me out with the following..- do you close to what you do enough to recommend it? where on earth did you go to academy, for how long, and how much did it cost? what can i expect as the pay rate if i become one? i work full time in a minute so i would have to do the training on night or weekends. sorry for the long questions but i really would close to input from people who in fact are court reporters, not just the info im finding on websites. thankfulness alot for helping me!
Answers:
I can't completely answer your questions because I don't live surrounded by Southern California, but I graduated from court reporting conservatory three years ago so I can give you some insight.
First of adjectives, it can be difficult. You must practice daily surrounded by order to pass by your tests. The test are pass or come to nothing and are based on how hasty you type. Once you pass one exam, you are thrown into another class that is more insulting. Most reporting schools net you pass 225 Q&A (question and answer), 200 jury charge (when the attorneys collaborate to the jury), and 180 lit (just talking, sort of resembling jury charge).
Some reporting schools sort you to go class during the hours of daylight -- I had a friend who come from Bryan College in CA (I'm not exactly sure where on earth it is in CA, sorry) beforehand she moved to TN. She went to institution between 5-7 hours a day Monday through Friday so if that doesn't work for you, you may own to consider an online school. Try bryancollege.edu for tuition question.
Court reporting is supposed to be a two-year program, but many students clutch more than that.
As far as pay rate, it depends on what characteristics of work you do. Are you working for a firm, doing depos? Or are you working as an official reporter? Most court reporters are charged an appearance charge and make money on copies to attorneys. Some are compensated salary, but it simply depends. It's also not a 9-5 job because you hold to factor in the time it take to edit transcripts.
Almost forgot -- California have a state certification audition that you have to go beyond before you can work. I meditate they give you a year to slip away it, but if you don't pass it, later you can't work.
Have you been to NCRA.org's website or looked on Yahoo's groups for a court reporter group? I am sure you can find more info. beside the Yahoo! group.
Don't forget to factor in the cost of a steno contrivance and laptop and software. If you factor all those within, that will cost you roughly $7000-8000. You don't have to enjoy anything to start school beside but the steno machine but you will eventually want the laptop and software.
Okay, about me -- I go to Chattanooga State in Chattanooga, TN. It took me two years and a semester, but I graduate and do closed captioning work. I work at home and I also go to local university and other events and caption things. I started beside 20 people contained by my class and so far about 7 of us hold graduated. Two of us graduate with two years, and the rest soon followed. The rest of the ethnic group either dropped out or are still surrounded by school.
I'm a court reporter contained by San Fransisco. One thing I don't similar to about the mission is you really can't leave your work at the office- it stays near you all morning, every day. I draw from paid more or less 35k a year.
I mean no disrespect. So please fathom out what I'm about to utter. You can not be a court reporter if you write the way you did within that question. Court reporters business in correctness and perfection. You have a big problem next to punctuation, grammar and sentence structure. Court reporters form pretty good money, and sometimes are involved next to interesting content. It's a good opportunity by most standards. But quite frankly, if you applied to a college without using proper English, you are not going to achieve in.
EDIT:
I want you to be the best you can be. That mode that you need to be the best that you can be every minute of every daytime. Do NOT sell yourself short. Hit it rugged. Hit it great. And be the best. That's my advice. And I'm stickin' to it.
