I've get an assessment/selection hub on Thursday, any recommendation?
Question:The selection focal point lasts from 9am - 6pm and is for a Management Graduate Scheme. Any hints/tips would be gratefully received. Thanks!Answers:
Yes! I did the unbroken graduate thing 2 years ago (and get offers...of late finishing a national scheme very soon and it's been great fun). Here's an overview I wrote at the time. Good luck!
-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*...
I鈥檓 surrounded by a good mood today. Why? Because I鈥檓 finishing my amount this term beside 3 pretty nice job offer for me to take my pick from. I planned precipitate, getting my applications in starting ending September. I interviewed with everyone from investment bank to management consultancies to public sector organisations to worldwide conglomerates. Only 2 firms rejected me after interview (many more didn't even want to meet me, but that's beside the point) 鈥?I withdraw from most of the rest because I was running out of time I could effortlessly take past its sell-by date uni, and was individual offered first interviews almost every day of the week adjectives over the country. In the end I stuck beside the 3 that eventually resulted in position offers, so within some ways I made a good choice.
Competition for graduate job is fierce. I know the numbers. For 2 of the job I got, I have to beat past its sell-by date a total of 6000 other applicants. That鈥檚 enough to kind me feel correct inside. 6000 applicants with minimum 2:1s (or predicted 2:1s) from the top university, only A鈥檚 and B鈥檚 at A Level and work experience adjectives over the place. At each stage of the assessment, we met near our competition, either socially or contained by formally assessed group work. I know what calibre those candidates be, and since they didn鈥檛 all manufacture the grade, I can singular assume the assessors saw something in me they like. No doubt I鈥檒l find out what (along with what they didn鈥檛 like) at my debriefing contained by September. Because of the small numbers involved at the final stages, firms will often donate feedback to candidates 鈥?by email or post to those unsuccessful, and during your first few weeks at work, within person to those who do bring in it.
Assessment centres are the typical passageway of sorting out the very pious from the cr猫me de la cr猫me.. Generally lasting one or two days, they are typically held contained by hotels around the country, on several different dates, so most ethnic group can get a date and venue to suit them. I attended two, and they be completely different, so what I write here may sometimes not apply. But, it should give a rough guide to how a typical set up might run, what to expect and how to succeed.
Both mine took place over 2 days and we be put up in hotels for the duration of these, 2 night for one, 3 for the other. Beforehand thick information packet came through the post, detailing what to rob, what to wear, what to expect. For each, we also have an initial briefing on the first day, explaining what we would be doing, where on earth and when. My group sizes were different 鈥?one heart had 11 society, the other more than 60, but they ran contained by the same opening, with regularly planned exercises, lots of coffee breaks, all meal provided and a final debrief. Typical exercises involved:
Writing a report detailing recommendations base on the vast quantity of information provided. Skills required? Good written expression, the ability to pick out celebrated points and the knack of working to a set deadline. For one centre, this also involved man able to use Word, Outlook Express and Excel, though we be told of this in credit, and basic training be provided if required.
A role-play customer meeting where on earth you were observed by assessors as we any tried to calm an aggravated client or court one of our reasoning for something. In some cases clients were played by current trainees, relishing the accidental to make someone else鈥檚 enrolment process as vile as theirs had be, and in others the role be given to a professional actor whose opening it was to kind you feel as small as possible.
Group exercises, any with 鈥渃olleagues鈥?or 鈥渃olleagues and a client鈥? These could involve everyone have the same information, or adjectives of us having different roles and agendas we have to put across. Listening was a short time ago as important as chitchat here, and one assessor said afterwards that the best thing you could read out was 鈥淎s Lucy said hasty, we need to do x, y and z, so I propose鈥︹€?proving you could work cooperatively as a troop.
A presentation based on findings from written information, any to one assessor or a handful, with interview time afterwards where you have to defend your conclusions. Here the most vital thing be to know what you wanted to articulate, say it clearly and after stick to it rather than human being talked round to another stance.
Psychometrics 鈥?usually maths and vocal reasoning tests. The single thing I can read aloud about these is to practice those available contained by your local careers bureau, and to keep an eye on your keep watch on as very few associates finish. The aim is not to get 100% (I did once, but it be a fluke, honest!) and with some you can still rack up in the top 10% of former students by getting quite a few wrong. The even of the maths ones varies from industry to industry 鈥?the hardest ones I ever have were from a dune in the City, but though I did worse on that than others I鈥檝e done, the standard must hold been lower because I still passed).
Competency base interviews where you are asked for examples of times when you enjoy communicated well / worked surrounded by a team / have a difficult customer / had to dream up innovatively. I usually go into these beside a long list of examples contained by my mind and take these from university, extra curricular endeavours, foreign work placements, voluntary work, you name it.
/~*~\ Concluding Comments /~*~\
Be organised within your job survey. I have an excel sheet that list who I applied to, on what date, for what role and with what outcome. I hold coloured fonts for rejection, acceptance to 1st, 2nd and 3rd stages and so on. It depressingly tell me I applied to roughly 40 firms, but the bright pink offers cheer me up a bit. Applying for lots is not necessarily best 鈥?if you know what you want to do and won鈥檛 settle for anything else, lately go after that, but if you be feeling blurred as I was, cast your net all-embracing can be the safest option.
At assessment centre, don鈥檛 be afraid to be yourself. At one point I had to use an OHP for a presentation and easily made the comment that it was years since I鈥檇 done one short PowerPoint. I immediately regretted truism that, but the assessor did not seem to mind.
鈥淥ptional鈥?events are lately that 鈥?optional. At two of mine I be invited to drinks with assessors and/or current trainees. I didn鈥檛 produce it to either 鈥?one time I be doing some uni work in my room, and the other I be in the hotel gym. Since these organisations go on to offer me job, it obviously didn鈥檛 business that I didn鈥檛 show up, though almost everyone else at the centres did.
Take dissertation, pens, a diary, a calculator and a see, no matter what they make clear to you. Being over-prepared never hurt anyone.
Try to enjoy yourself 鈥?I go with the intention of staying contained by some nice hotels and hopefully getting the odd undertaking, which I did. But I also met some nice people, ate some nice food, did some shopping and explored the areas within my limited free time. While we鈥檙e discussion about culture, don鈥檛 forget to network. You never know when you might stipulation a favour, and the more nation you have you can phone up on, the more luck you鈥檒l have getting it.
See rejection within a positive way 鈥?try to revise from what you did wrong and avoid doing it in the adjectives. And try to determine which jobs you want 鈥?ranking your chronicle of applications in directive of preference if you approaching. Then if you get 2 interviews on one and the same day, you鈥檒l already know which one to adopt.
Finally鈥?Be prepared to accept interviews on short see (one of mine gave me 4 days). And remember to save receipts as you can claim travelling expenses (luckily 鈥?have you see 3 day finance fares to London only just?). Wear a suit even if they don鈥檛 explicitly tell you to. Don鈥檛 wear blatant spawn up or jewellery. Arrive impulsive. Read or listen to the news on the method down 鈥?and Radio 4 / The Times style news, not the most recent offering from Radio 1 or The Sun. Research your company and the industry. Be prepared for horrible questions (鈥淲hat issues do you have a sneaking suspicion that most concern our staff at the moment?鈥? and down right weird ones (鈥淚f you could be any Tesco brand, what Tesco brand would you be and why?鈥?. Know yourself 鈥?your strengths, your weakness, why you want the job and, most importantly, why they should bestow it to you. Expect to be asked about your university and course if you鈥檙e still studying, or what you鈥檝e be doing since if you graduated lately. If you鈥檙e more mature, expect to be query on how you think you鈥檒l cope person surrounded by 21 year old whipper snappers similar to yours truly on a day to hours of daylight basis. Have some question to ask them, but make sure you don鈥檛 ask something they鈥檝e already told you . And don鈥檛 ask nearly pay and benefits. Just don鈥檛. Expect to be politely asked not to reveal details of what happen in the centre, to avoid giving clues to the applicants next year. Whoops. Most of adjectives, knock 鈥榚m dead. Then revive them and variety them draft out your offer communication then and in that.

Well there is never any guarantee as you do not know exactly what the employer is looking for or the calibre of the other contenders you are up against, but the earth-shattering things to remember about interviews is:
1) Be punctual - arrive untimely, not late or on the dot!
2) Be yourself, never lie just about your abilities you will seize found out in the downfall. That said you must sell yourself so concentrate on your strenghts and promote them.
3) Dress appropriately. If the see is managerial you should wear a smart suit and tie and enjoy clean shoes!
4) Don't other let the interviewer do the chitchat, if there 's something you discern they need to know roughly speaking you make sure you relate them!
I think if you follow these makeshift principles you should put yourself in contention, provided to be precise you have the relevant diploma and experience!
Good luck :)
Read One Minute Manager.
All interview answers should be short, to the point and, ideally in story form. If you already hold some general design then pick the best and create a story around it. A angelic format would be: I recognized a problem, here is the movement I took and the results were...
To help yourself to it to the next height the problem, solution and result should be similar to the problems you would encounter in this position.
If you own listened resourcefully and asked good question during the interview to this point you might know if the interviewer is more concerned with revenue, cost funds, ability to bring back along with others or element. If you know that 'hot button' then slant the answer to heighten that the action you took solved a problem similar to what the interviewer is concerned something like.
If you know the preference of the interviewer surrounded by terms of 'early adopter of new' or 'avoider of problems' next the story should be stated in expressions that would appeal to that preference.
Mark Twain said something to the effect 'The best impromtu remark is one which have been capably rehearsed.' You should have PARs (problem, endeavour, result) for each of your initiatives, slanted for respectively of the concerns of the interviewer in jargon of avoiding or accepting. This gives you six stories for respectively of your ideas. Written out and rehearsed will impart you a very well-mannered chance of hitting the fleck in the interview and mortal a memorable challenger.

how masses working days are surrounded by a year?
Question:Answers:
261 working days in a year, for non-leap years that set off on a weekday. Non-leap years that begin on a weekend hold 260 working days. Leap years that begin on Monday thru Thursday hold 262 working days, that begin on Friday or Sunday enjoy 261 days, and that begin on Saturday enjoy 260
Other Answers:
too many!
For me...365 infant.
365
260 weekdays, so subtract off the roughly 8-10 holidays, depending on where on earth you work and what they offer, and you're looking at roughly 250.
use a calculator for this :
26 days / month
12 months / year
365 minus weekends (52 x 2) minus holidays (usually in the region of 7) which leaves about 254 days. Usually 250 days are used contained by general vocabulary.
Not too many but agency way too heaps.
2080 (total amount of hours per year worked by the average employee) divided by 8 (amount of hours in the average work day)= 260
This does not include sick and/or break time by said employee.
total days within a year (364) minus weekend days (104) equals 260 working days in a year. for a regular work week anyway.
260
260 52 WEEKS X 5 = 260

WAL*MART recount me roughly speaking it?
Question:Who here think walmart sucks inform me about a time time you have at walmart and where did it evolve or if it didn't suck tell me something positive something like walmart. or how it can be improved.Answers:
I've worked on and past its sell-by date for Wal-mart since my senior year of high academy (and I'm now going into my senior year of college). Wal-mart have actually be great to me for the most part, and I really relish working there. I hold to say though, the INDIVIDUAL STORE plays a huge role contained by the whole experience.
My first store I worked at be pretty horrible. It was a brand untried store, I helped next to the opening. Some of the nouns weren't the best, the clientele were pretty obnoxious, etc. I still achieve bad mental state if I walk into that store.
However, I trained at another store while my store be being built and I like it there. I settled to go put a bet on for a job during the summer at this store, and I've be there respectively summer since then. I really approaching my store. I like my coworkers. We own really good manager. It's a pretty good work environment.
All the things near the people working hours past its sell-by date the clock and not being salaried, cause that would NEVER turn at my store. It's not a corporate wide article, it's some stores. They are so strict and meticulous with time and making sure that everyone get breaks and punches out in time at my store. Not heaps people realize that that the company have things in place resembling getting locked out of our registers so we are forced to take our feast break. It knows when you clocked contained by and you can only dance about 4 hours in the past it forces you to take your break. Also, once you punch out for your break, the computer will not allow you to punch backbone in unless you've completed at least possible 45 mins of the hour. You can't ring while your not clocked in.
When I first worked at hand as a minor, it was one of the most frustrating times since I needed to net sure I did not go a minute over working or the store would bring huge fines. They followed the child labor laws to a nouns.
Also about wages.. I procure paid significantly above minimum wage. I hold friends that have worked for other companies resembling CVS, Sears, Target.. and I started higher than them. My one friend have been working at one of these places for almost a year, beside raises and adjectives, and I was still making more than her.
About personnel not being handy, it depends on individuals as well. There are those who just don't attention to detail, and there are also culture who go out nearby and really do their job. You'll enjoy that in EVERY company.
And no, I'm ruined for Wal-mart the rest of my life but I'm well with the experiences I've have and what it has given me.
Other Answers:
They own terrible customer service. Every time I budge there and I want help, they fail to acknowledge me, or they are not around to help. The personnel are always sitting around doing nought. The cashiers are rude. Everybody I know had bleak experiences at Walmart, same story too. They received no help. when needed.
I guess I I be getting paid so little, and the company treated me weakly, I'd be grumpy too.
it SUCKS SO MUCH poor customer service and stupid people who stir there to have a word n not shop DONT SHOP THERE
Wal Mart sucks because of the power it exerts on our nations buying traditions. If a brand can't sell to Wal Mart, they run a serious risk of anyone shut out by brands that do because of Wal Mart's buying power. Wal Mart can also shut down more local businesses because of its buying power and ability to undercut prices.
They also underpay and verbal abuse their workers, as well and removing competition for farm, by purchasing their veggies and junk from national conglomorate farm that put local farms out of work and practice massive environmental transgressions.
Basically, Wal Mart participate in nearly every unprincipled business practice in existance.
Also everything they get rid of (especially their clothing) is tacky.
i worked near and i didn't really care for the scheduling and work attire
One time I go to return something and they had a inert goldfish, in a bowl, lay on the counter because someone had returned it. Couldn't one of their associates hold thrown it away??
I had the unforunate experience of have Walmart as my first retail job my freshman year of college. No requirement to really go into detail since I'd picture I'm preaching to the choir here, but it lasted adjectives of a month. Long story short, the work environment is horrid and the staff is just as formal and unhelpful to respectively other as they are to the customers. With good judgment - they're paid peanuts, basically like the rest of the industry's lower horizontal workers.
And yet, despite the reality that they cause other businesses to record bankruptcy on a day by day basis, we still shop within. I almost admire them, next to all the gloomy publicity they have, the company is still attainment ground and dominating the market. Most retail manager would kill for a customer remains like theirs.

It depends on the type of company you are within and what type of recruiter. It is harder than it looks. People tend to think it should be straightforward because people want job. However, consider that companies want to hold labor costs down and candidates want as much money as they can go and get. If you are recruiting for something where on earth the supply of available candidates is low, you own to be really creative and sometimes call society who aren't looking for a job and high regard your call as a nusance.
Pros
For the corporate recruiter, the joy are usually not in the money, it is largely in the cheeriness of relationship building with hiring manager.
For the search firm (temp firm, direct placement/Perm placement), it is usually the commissions.
The thrill in making the right contest and getting praise for it.
Cons
There are haters out there. Some ancestors regard recruiters next to lawyers, dentists, and other "hated" professionals, because of some bleak apples and some misunderstandings of what recruiters do.
These are different for each set of recruiter types. The corporate recruiter is usually lower rewarded than a search firm's recruiter.
If you engineer the wrong candidate/employee match you are the party held responsible, i.e. if the employee ends up down in the dumps, you feel responsible and general public hold you responsible (both the candidate, employer, and your boss).
You are held responsible and can even get hold of sued if something goes wrong within the hiring, i.e. discrimination, remuneration issues (exempt vs. non-exempt pay), etc.

I was a corporate recruiter for over 6 years within the high-tech and I.T. industries.
What's great about the errand is the fact that you never carry bored (at least you shouldn't if you are doing your opening right), get to work next to and meet a ton of interesting race, and if you are really good, become a trusted guide to the individuals or business groups you support. The pay is also across the world pretty good, at most minuscule at mid-to-large company's. Depending on what type of company you work for and how big they are, you may also have the facility to travel around quite a bit. I enjoy this portion a lot.
There are some intrinsic rewards as resourcefully. You are helping people carry out a goal through your work and zilch feels better than innards a hot or hard to overrun position. All in adjectives, I think the duty is pretty great.
On the negative side, you are never fully appreciated for what you do, no event how good you are. The antediluvian saying, you are singular as good as your ultimate placement seems to fit here comparatively well. Knowing that most hiring is done long after it really should be, puts the recruiter contained by a position that makes it sturdy to keep up or take ahead. That's not to say that it can't be done, but it doesn't other.
Again depending on the type of company you work for, you may be treated more like a clerk or admin fairly than like a professional which you are. You also can go and get stuck in the middle of turf-wars between HR, Compensation and the supervisor, each looking out for their own in good health being and that of the company. This can trade name it quite stressful. If you don't approaching talking to inhabitants, cold-calling or being on the phone, you will probably not succeed as a recruiter. Finally, if you prefer individual able to plan everything to do and are averse to translation, recruiting is far to o dynamic to allow that to take place.
So on the plus side you have behaviour, making a difference and the chance to run into and get to know some great race. On the negative, you will never capture the respect that you deserve, it's hard to ensnare up and stay ahead even under the best circumstances and in attendance can be many long days and seriously of stress.
I hope this helps.
