Yes, you need to quit.. you're killin' yourself. Find some motivation to facilitate you do your job search in the meantime. Be persistant if you find a living you really really want!
If you can afford it go ahead, but are you sure i.e. what you want? I burned out several times in my post, but I managed to turn that around and formulate it better.
Can you afford to be unemployed for who know how long? If so, then quit if you want, but if, be glad you have a opening and stick it out. I fully understand the adjectives out bit, but without another opening lined up, I would be really leery of quiting. Take some break time and see how that helps.
You suffer the plight of most American workers.....dislike of their employment. Quitting your post may not be the best option as far as finances and resume' gap go.
