Answers: Not just for being a shareholder.

But if the shareholder is either: an employee, a member of management, or on the board of directors; he could be paid for his time and knowledge in addition to any income from holding stock.
A shareholder doesn't get paid wages just for being a shareholder. But many shareholders are also employees of a company and then yes - they would get paid wages! :)
