When you speak it decreases, are you referring to the amt accrue or the expense? If the amt accrued have decreased, it could stingy that the amt previously accrued have been rewarded out or that it was over-accrued previously and an adjustment be made to bring it down. Unless the company is sued every year, it shouldn't have this expense every year within its income statement. If the next year's a/cs have such an expense and it's smaller than the previous year's, it doesn't mean they're connected. You enjoy to read the notes to the a/cs.

It's exactly what it sounds like. It's the expense that the shareholders earnings for a litigation settlement. If it goes down, that's a 'good' point for the shareholders. Why? Figure it out.
