Why would a firm choose to maximize revenue as opposed to maximize profits?
Answers: It's a shell game.
By maximizing revenue you open a larger credit line, your stock is inflated, and revenue based bonuses go up for company officers.
It's a gamble whether the revenue growth can be translated into profits eventually and most company officers are protected through separation packages if their decisions cause ruin.
That is an issue that faces a lot of companies. The hope is that maximizing revenues will bring more income per share than maximizing profits which would bring more income per sales dollar and not necessarily more income per share.

Need to LLC a small company - should I hire a lawyer? or use an online company for much less?
Answers: I think it depends on what state you're in, type of compnay, number of people involved, etc. I created mine in March of last year (NJ) and did all by myself - on-line. My biggest advisor was my accountant who was very knowledgable (and much less expensive) than a lawyer.
Check your state government's web site first to help you get started. Good luck..it was pretty easy for me.
