To be a CEO of a company, what should your profession be when you start the job with the company?
Answers: Probably CEO. A lot of companies hire chief executives from other companies based on their reputation and experience. This definitely depends on the size of the company and the sector it operates in, though. Plenty of CEOs have been promoted up the ranks of a company after starting in an entry level position there. Experience in the company's industry helps, for instance, if you want to run a pharmaceutical company, experience with developing and marketing new drugs would help. Furthermore, many CEOs have JDs (law degrees) or are CPAs (certified accountants).
Bottom line, don't choose an employer or a position based on whether or not you think you can maybe, one day be its CEO. Instead, you need to get yourself educated and experienced in your field. Work hard and make contacts and eventually you might find yourself in that sweet corner office with a view.
According to a recent articles in Business Week magazine, 90% of ceo's ' come from positions in accounting.

they legally have to pay you for 3 hours work, even if your there for 10 mins. (here anyway)
