How could countrywide sell for only $4 billion?

Answers: Because loans are outstanding debt, not assets in a classic sense. The value of that debt depends in large part on their customers' ability to repay those loans, and because Countrywide has a large amount of sub-prime or close to sub prime residential mortgages in their portfolio, the relative value of their business has declined along with the sub prime market.
Because.they have a TON of bad debt. The company owes ALOT of money.

Is Mr Martins Horst really the director of Halipax Bank United Kingdom?

Answers: You need to find the bank website, and check for the information or contact number to call. Keep in mind, even if there is a Martin Horst who is director of the Halipax Bank, if you received a phone call or email claiming to be from him, there is no way to verify that is actually is him unless you can contact him directly via the bank independently.

Anyway, here is a link from Wikipedia on Halipax Bank: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halifax_(ba...
if you got an email from him about some money, it is almost certainly a scam.

They must have the free PayPal justification that has those types of margins. Try sending an e-mail to the buyer about a possible other source of money.
