If you requirement a flesh and blood human, just maintain hitting 0
I hate them too but it is a critical evil. Imagine how many phone per minute considerable companies must get. It would take legions of people to answer and route adjectives the calls if done manually.

All internal costs must be passed on to the consumer within order to remain competitive and profitable.
Its save money by not having a actual receptionist, if the the VME add-on costs @ $5K and the annual wage for a receptionist is $20K, save the company $15K/year.

what is amazon.com's ranking within e commerce business?

Question:

Answer:
No data have been released nonetheless for 2006 as the year is not yet over.

But for 2005 according to the Internet Retailer Magazine's Top 500 Guide http://www.internetretailer.com/top500/... , the top etailer is AMAZON.COM . In 2005, it have web sale of $8.490 billion. Barnes and Noble is #30 with trellis sales of $439.7 million (though total sale including stores is about $5. 1 billion).

Here's the top 10 ecommerce sites and their network sales for 2005:

1. Amazon.com = $8.49 billion
2. Office Depot = $3.80 billion
3. Staples = $3.80 billion
4. Dell Inc. = $3.78 billion
5. HP Home and Home Office = $2.83 billion

10. Newegg.com = $1.30 billion

eBay is not considered an ecommerce business but a shopping portal
I'm guessing ebay is the number one e-commerce business.

I really don't know who number two is, but I would ponder that Amazon is number three. But Amazon isn't doing real very well these days.

Maybe barnes and member of the aristocracy is number 2.

how is the strategic direction of a business defined?

Question:
in proclaim to decide what road to bring with an ongoing business, how can option be defined?

Answer:
All business activities own a purpose whether short-term, mid-term or long-term. Based on that purpose, the business is classified under an industry. All aspects approaching products/services, technical, marketing, financial, organizational, etc. of that business are somehow, someway move next to the way the integral industry moves.

If that business is to defined its strategic direction (lmuch onger than a long-term plan), it does not have to look away from the industry where on earth it belongs. If it does otherwise like base its plans on the so-called allied industries. it will not be able to 'capture' the true picture of its existence.

Once focus surrounded by the industry, the company begins the eight-step process of strategic planning. Note that strategic planning is different from long-term planning within many ways. For one, the analytical method used contained by strategic planning is non-rational, creative and speculative while in long-term planning is commonsensical, scientific and precisive. Another difference is its outlook. Strategic planning is unrealistic, pessimistic (with assumptions considered as uncontrollable) while long-term planning assumes an optimistic, natural view of the adjectives.

Going back to the process, you can't defined the business' strategic direction lacking a Vision (a guiding star, a dream, a glimpse of the future, something that fires up the organization). Some planners interchange sight and mission but I believe that vision is bewildered and keep moving away while mission is more clear defining 'how' you can attain the perception.

After you have approved on how to attain the vision through the mission, you are presently ready to demarcate your strategies. Then you define the objectives to complete each strategy. Remember that objectives are SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, realitis and timebound) so you call for to be really technical on the objectives similar to doing PERT-CPM or GANTT chart for the timetable, identify the Key Results Areas or Critical Sucess Indicators, Objectively Verifiable Indicators (ex. the passing level of a student is the KRA or CSI but in charge to validate you enjoy to see the card. The card is the OVI.)

Once your objectives are clear, time to prepare the Action Plans (how you can attain each objectives) until you come to evaluation. The intervallic evaluation will tell you if your business is moving towards the strategic direction. If not, you review everything. Some organization even re-visit their Vision to determine if that 'fire' is still aflame.

Is Wal-mart devout for the U.S. reduction?

Question:

Answer:
Yes.

I think they in actual fact help keep hold of inflation in check by pushing for low prices. They also oblige the US families through their low prices by allowing them to hold greater purchasing power for their dollars. But in instruct to get low prices, they are pushing their suppliers to travel overseas. But I think near is a net gain for the US cutback.
Despite local concerns to the contrary, Yes

They have succeeded contained by a free market discount by reducing costs constantly and maintaing their expected level of feature, They have played the free souk game terrifically well, almost to the point of monopoly, however they are not a monopoly and possible won't be.
- They were an rash adopter to the use the global flea market to acquire cheaper goods. That irritates US suppliers of these products because job seem to turn overseas (actually, it usually shifts those US jobs from production of produce to services to deliver and support them). Although that seems discouraging to many, it is suitable. Being a global partner help the peace process (we don;t war beside trading partners), keeps costs down and avails suitable that many couldn;t afford.
- They be an early adopter to electronic transactions of purchases and payments to their suppliers...i.e. huge cost saving to a company and expensive for smaller companies (like a local retailer or drugstore) to emulate. Walmart leverages their size to be smaller quantity costly. That is good to any cutback to have a business grow and be efficientforcing competitors to do alike.
- They have provided job and benefits to communities that had little of that. Conversely, they overwhelm lots local stores who lose their jobs and businesses. That is a good/bad tradeoff and a sour pill for those who lose.
- They own fought unions. That is discouraging for the economy. Collective bargain is the only control to ensure disinterested practicces by Walmart
- Their low prices provide goods to those that may not afford them otherwise. That is moral to the US economy.

Overall, a succssful company is well brought-up.
Probably not. They claim that by buying from overseas manufacterers (specifically China) they can pass along funds to the consumer. However the consumer rarely see much of this as a savings. Wal-Mart draws individuals into the store with great prices on special items, but other items are as or more costly than elsewhere. So unless you only buy the specific item you are probably not good.

But assume for a moment that you are realizing some stash. Do those savings counter the loss of US jobs? Remember, the relatives who are out of work are probably customers of the businesses you, your wife, father or others work for. And if they haven't got a assignment, they aren't buying those products. So you (or your wife, father, etc..) don't get moderately as big a raise when that time comes.

See how it works?

Additionally, Wal-Mart have a policy of hiring only leisure employees whenever possible so they don't own to pay benefits. And they also tend to release those who are full-time when they start making too much money. And they own been accuse of hiring illegals for cleanup and store maintenence.

We have in the region of a $260 billion trade deficit with China right in a minute and much of that is consumer commodities... and Wal-Mart is the nations largest retailer. Do the math.

Regardless of what the experts voice, even a first year finance student know that trade deficit is bad for our reduction.
Yes. Wal-mart has done more to backing the poor in this country afterwards any government welfare program.

Wal-Mart's model have brought really low prices to people, both surrounded by Wal-Mart and by forcing the competition to lower prices. Contrary to the other poster, yes their items are far cheaper than in several other retailers, and not just the specials.

Oh, they're not faultless, and they do some things I'm not crazy about, but yes, the US is better because Wal-Mart exists.
I don't know, but they're biddable for the economy of my household...lolthey've save me a ton of money this year alone...
It's depend on the perspective of top management of wal-mart:
Good, if the regulation put customer interest, community interest & employee interest above share holder & guidance interest. Meaning: the customer satisfation, community development, employee's richness become first company's goal, or, the increasing of share holder's riches will be achieved when the other interest have been self-satisfied.
Bad, if management put share holder interest as foremost goal.

Whatever happen to appropriate customer service?

Question:
I am so tired of calling a company's customer service number only to bring back nowhere. I always seize someone from India or someplace calling themselves "Ricky" or "Joe". I understand why companies outsource work and I also obtain we live in a worldwide economy, but satisfactory already. If I wanted to business with an idiot, nearby are plenty of qualified ones here in the USA. Not individual do you have to return with past the spoken communication barrier, but most of them know zilch about the product they are supporting! they are in recent times reading to you from a manual. I can do that myself and most times enjoy already! Just today alone I have spent almost 2 hours at work dealing near this nonsense. I finally told "Jessica" to find me someone from the USA to confer to because I was finished next to her incompetence. After 20 min on hold i gave up. These companies are good money, but will start to lose customers because I know I am not alone in my frustration.

Answer:
I have an idea that that "good customer service" go the same approach of good manners, appropriate music, and common sense! All of which are a short time ago a little too scarce today! - Ah, for the "biddable ol' days" of courtesy, old-time rock n' roll, and civilized behavior!

We think we are making SO much progress - but sometimes I really hold to stop and wonder if people be not better off (at lowest in lingo of how they cared for respectively other) in olden times? What do you think? I can totally sympathize beside your story - as consumers, we should make it plain to "corporate America" that they are falling down on the opening as far as customer service goes!
I don't reflect people contained by previous generations would own ever put up with the treatment that get handed out to ethnic group now! It would not hold been all right to be treated like you be -- it wouldn't have be acceptable later, and it's not acceptable today! :-) I guess you can clutch some comfort in the reality that you're not alone in your frustrations - "we" are adjectives with you! :-)

I agree near you that it is frustrating to talk to someone that you can't fathom out.
Hey, I'm Ricky. I just looked-for to let you know in the region of your complaint, call me subsequently because I'm going out for a whisky with some friends. If your complaint is authentic serious and real urgent, I will move some music on while I'm gone to relax you. Will there be anything else, sir?
You deserve a standing ovation for dictum what we all grain! If you started a march...I would be right at the rear you!!
The answer is simple. If you were a multi-gazillion dollar entity that sold charm bracelets and have the whole world as your start market, would you aid if some knucklehead from Sheboygan, Wisconsin called to complain that the one he bought for his girlfriend only broke?
No.
You'd be too busy counting your money to even care.
Vote Democrat!
Large companies that do this are solitary interested in making money. It is cheaper for them to outsource job than to deal next to the riduculous buearcracy of in-state business laws. Until the law change, unpromising customer service will never change.
I know how you grain, I constantly repeat myself "I can't understand your English, is at hand someone else I can talk to" and when they voice "No ma'am" I am constantly asking them "What are you saying, I don't fathom out, what was that, what does that penny-pinching?"

If they put you on hold, they are laughing at you and you will have to linger and wait and linger!
If you ever find a solution to this problem, please let adjectives of us know. I've spent small eternities on the phone either on hold or trying to communicate next to someone whose grasp of the English language is poor.

The problem extends to adjectives service areas, though. I've waited until I'm thirsting for a waitress to stop chatting with her friends long plenty to get me a drink; I've have to listen to family histories between the clerk and a customer while waiting to reward for my groceries; and I've grown old, died and be reincarnated at the DMV many times... This have become the norm, unfortunately.
It died when Jimmy Carter become president. Before that, consumers ran companies. If you didn't take what you wanted, or the product be bad, you could let somebody know the company where to stick it. Now, at hand are so many family who just cart a product, whether it is up to par, because we just don't want to do business with it, and said company have too many customers to support for the few who complain. People need to stop accepting dime-store products, at the over-charge, and shove it up the cheap-skates nose! I am tired, also of getting second rate products from foreign countries, like China,Taiwan, and Indonesia! American made is other the best!
I am old ample to remember when the stores knew who you be after the second visit. The residence "good customer service" terminated around 1960 when the business world decided within quanitity instead of quality. I suspect I'll die back our builder will submit an estimate that we've been waiting a year to receive. You would assume $400.000 would get some performance, but apparently $l,000,000 plus is the key.
Companies are both positive money and selling products at prices that you would be willing to compensate. Say someone who is competent in the product and get paid $15 per hr (you can see why minimum wage can't work), your phone call ties up that person for 1 hr and that is to say $15. All depends on the product and the margin
Not solitary are you completely correct but it’s like the customer and supplier world is completely out of touch near each other. its possible to discern like your walking into a coupé dealership just contained by Wal-Mart. I’ve got workers running to ask if I need relieve finding anything but cant even figure out if they convey the product in the first place. I remember working contained by retail and did exactly what the customer wanted plus more and have the feeling of a rush beside some kind of resembling achievement. Teens that progress in for their first available job just jump there to draw from paid, the businesses don’t strictness anymore. They want your money and that’s it. I can’t just blame the business though, fight seen some crazy customers too.

Just yesterday I call to ask my bank if at hand was anyway to give a hand me with some overcharges I found myself getting charged for over a $20 dollar mistake... and the charges we're ridiculous! $34 dollars every time it go over plus a $23 dollar fee everyday it go un-noticed! So I called the customer service file, just to bring thrown back and forth between relatives that just want to hear the problem but never fix it. All I asked for is to try to find a bearing to pay it so it won’t gain in the means of access of my rent. But all they have to say is: "we can’t reverse what’s be done..."": I’m thinking to myself... how do they expect their customers to pay $80 dollars contained by fees when the cost of the overdraft was just $20 bucks... I’m not paying for 100 dollars for a $20 dollar mistake.

" As long as you pay them to be stupid, it can’t be fixed."
What customer service?

Did you freshly full from the 80’s. It’s all just about the $$ at your expense. Companies have be cutting cost surrounded by all direction so that they can product more $$. They don’t really care roughly speaking customer service unless it has a direct impact on sale.

As far as Indians. . . that will take some time to upgrade. They have enhanced quite some looking subsidise five years. You can’t really blame them, they are just doing the available job the best way they can. If you want to blame anyone blame yourself. Most of share holders of American companies are held by Americans, we want more $$, so the corporation brand name cuts in extra services or find ways to provide similar service at a fraction of the cost.

If you don’t approaching the product just pocket it back to the retailer and relate them your story. Tell them that when you buy a product you also expect the manufacture to provide customer service. And if their customer service sucks consequently you don’t want their product, they need to stand bringing up the rear their product 100% (that’s what happened to dell and gateway roughly speaking 7 years ago). It did not take dell and gateway like mad to pull adjectives the customer service back to the U.S. I am sure they hold slowly migrated the work back to India presently.
I thought it was in recent times me, and I am considered a minority
in our country and I am particularly not a prejudicial individual, but you are sooooo RIGHT!! Enough is enough, I do not get
why employers can't at least possible place English speaking persons
contained by customer serving positions..

For example,if you are trying to get support on a computer problem
and you call up the service that comes near your computer for help--------LOOK_OUT! First of all if you really don't take in all of the slang or familiar beside the usage the last article you need is a character on the other end of the file talking
surrounded by a heavy elocution. You may ask them very politely to please re-
peat what they said, but after the 4th time they can start getting hot beneath the collar and so can you, even worse you can start
feeling sorta stupid because you don't take in a damn thing they're cliché!!

Also certain words contained by their native tongue may not be effortlessly translated into English. So any personel manager that would
approaching for your company to flourish-----REMEMBER this is an
ENGLISH SPEAKING COUNTRY!
