It be a business decision. If the merchandise isn't selling and the department is losing money, you don't keep hold of it. When you have to hang on to marking things down to clearance and selling them below cost, it doesn't gross sense to keep. It's duplicate reason they did away next to layaway. One of the signs of a good retail store is how frequently the inventory turns over. (How smartly things sell.) Having product sit for an extended length of time is unpromising on the accounting side of things. If your store's budget is tied up in things that don't market, they won't be able to buy investigational things that will sell. Walmart may appear like it have an endless supply of money but they do look at the tiny details similar to this for each store.

Seeing as Walmart probably put any other sewing store out of business, that probably sucks for you. They are probably closing it because they aren't making monster profits past its sell-by date of the stuff, even though they are getting it for pennies via slave labor from China.
I predict that Walfarts of the future will with the sole purpose sell high-ranking end expensive items that not a soul who works there can even afford.
