what is a recession?

Question:

Answer:
Close, but not quite.

A recession is two successive camp (not necessarily 6 successive months) or more of negative year-on-year legitimate (as opposed to nominal) GDP growth. It is not defined as cynical value GDP as you can't hold negative GDP. You can enjoy positive *NOMINAL* GDP growth, but if inflation is higher than nominal GDP growth, you own negative genuine GDP growth.

It's not *usually* GDP, it's always GDP (as anti GNP) by definition.

Also, a recession is not usually caused by hyperinflation or retrenchment. Hyperinflation is usually cause by an overheating economy or massive monetary liquidity (e.g. printing money due to massive budget deficit close to in Zimbabwe). It is singular in occasional cases that you get hyperinflation beside a recession (assuming that you have Keynsians running the discount rather than Banana Republic despots). The logical term is call "stagflation".

Typically inflation DROPS in a recession. Using the wage method - total wages drop as individuals get retrenched, perk get cut and bonuses shaved. Using the cost method, prices drop as flabby demand undershoot existing supply. Using the value-add method of GDP arithmetic, less manufacturing/services are perform on basic materials to build them into finished products.

Retrenchment is an lagging indicator of the reduction, not a leading indicator. Also, retrenchment is usually not massive. While you probably expected that as a colorful embellishment, we're talking "only" a few million job, which is only a few percentage points. Sucks for population who were surrounded by the retrenchments, but not massive.

Recessions are usually caused by rising interest rates, exogenous shocks, tightening within monetary supply or tightening of fiscal policy.

Where you hit the nail on the herald was political instability. "It the cutback, stupid" almost always win elections (except this last one).

Don't capture me wrong. The previous post was a fine answer, but I'm purely being an anal-retentive know-it-all nerdnick.
it is when the national output falls consistently for 6 months or more. usually it is related to the GDP (gross domestic product), have a negative convenience. the economy is said to own a negative growth compared to previous years. it is usually cause by a variety of factor which includes hyperinflation, mass retrenchment which leads to most important unemployment and also political instabilities

What Does a Planning Officer do? What is their role?

Question:

Answer:
I went to my local council (UK) to ask almost this. I should have merely gone on RunEye.com!!

The job is extremely rule oriented. An actual planning officer spends profusely of his time fobbing off the solid 'planning officer' job onto the assistant and dealing with the leadership aspect of everything himself but here's his/her job description anyway.

The trunk duties involve Determining Planning Application, making sure they meet adjectives the legal requirements for
the country and that the plan can be carried out reasonably: e.g. making sure that the plan is not made on a listed building and if it is that the proposed change are compliant with the strictures & restrictions of the timetabled property.

Another consideration is the intended use of the property and whether planning permission is required: there's no point building if the community afterwards disagree with what the building is to be used for, and any tuning of use for a building must be approved or at least not object to by the community. Whether it's just doing very well the building to carry out impossible to tell apart business or use e.g. a market or block of apartments one improved would own rammifications on rent and other costs therefore residents
living on or practical to the property have a right to disagree and stop the developments from going ahead.

A planning officer is expected to Respond to preliminary enquiries nearly the likelihood of planning consent for proposals self given and to prepare planning appeal submissions on behalf ofthe council: attending appeal site inspections and representing the relevant body at public inquiries as required and taking account of legislative, policy, departmental procedure and service issues.

They've also get to carry out enforcement duties as required through investigating potential breaches of planning control and preparing reports/formal notice as required taking account of legislative, policy, department procedure and service issues.

They must contribute to the efficiency of the service by proviing information and advice roughly speaking Development Control and related matters as required to the required bodies, they must contribute to the formulation of and compliance next to section objecties and procedures, participating surrounded by and controbuting to section meeting and contributing to the formulation and implementation of planning policy and other professional matter of the relevant body he or she is working for.

I hope this isn't too much!
I can only speak for the UK. A planning officer will look at a planning application contained by the light of the multiple types of government legislation and also the local council's own planning policies. He will consequently decide whether to give in planning permission or cry off it.

However, in some circumstances he will exceed the application along to the planning committee, composed of elected members, who will engineer the final decision.

If the planning application is rejected, the applicant afterwards has the opportunity to appeal to an independent Planning Inspector.

Does Owning a Business Count as Management experience for big companies down the road (if it is yours)?

Question:
Does Owning a Business Count as Management work experience for bigger companies down the road (lets say 4-6 years, if it is yours)?

Answer:
It does - as long as the company be not closed due to person 11 or the regulatory authorities.
good conception to keep your books of a/c etc ... around within cas needed
Only if you were successful contained by your own business otherwise, don't even mention it.
i believe it is. this is becos managing a company needs lots of skills and expertise. if you are presenting yourself as a being with running skill to the company, you can quote it as an example. it will be great to cite a problem u faced final time and describe how u handle it and did it work out eventually.

if your own company messed up eventually, you may say how you hold tried to resolve the problem and minimise the cost despite the failure and impt. control lesson you have learn from your failure.
It can support and hurt. It shows your vision, it shows you own varried skills. Anyone that has ever owned their own business know you become well versed surrounded by many areas from lawful, to accounting, to marketing, to customer service etc. Even if you don't want to. The way it can hurt is that within the back of several peoples mind is your are going to quit and try and do it again. You are there to steal planning from them, if you are applying in duplicate field etc. So far it not hurt me and i hold had a few businesses as powerfully as worked for others. Its hard for me however, to hold direction from someone who is 15 or 20 years younger then me and smaller number experienced at the task. Some middle manager may see you as a threat to their job. They can update by reading your resume that you may have 2x the experience to do their opening then they do. They might be afraid upper direction might notice. So contained by the long run there a moment ago no right or wrong answer for this. It all depends of the human being doing the interviewing. Usually though most companies like the in good health versed experience even if the company folded. People usually know why they failed and can next reconise the signs at another compnay and maybe can oblige that company succeed. Most people backfire for lack of start up capitol not deficit of a good theory.
