How Should I Handle This Situation?

Question:
I need some honest solid advice for what to do within this situation as it keeps arranged to me at this job.
We enjoy SOPs, we are told to follow the SOP's and in certainty make 'mistakes' that the manager bring to our attention if we do not follow these SOP's.
Tonight, I had a situation where on earth I followed an SOP and as soon as I was done I be told by the 'lead' "You cannot just blindly follow SOP's! You should ask!". I be told this because apparently about a year ago, earlier I was here, an email come to this person axiom to deviate from the SOP. I would not have gotten this email, and the SOP be never updated, there be also no way to know very soon to follow it.
So, I cannot follow them without asking, I cannot not follow them, it is not feasable to ask going on for 300 times a shift if it is ok to do what the SOP says to do.
So - what would you do, aside from finding a better position, in this situation?

Answer:
I am the individual who's job it is to write the SOP's at my company. I enjoy consulted for over 30 company's on the creation of SOP's also.

Obviously the company only have them to impress the customers, otherwise what's the point? They should be updated ASAP as changes are implement. You CANNOT rely on people's memory - it has to be documented.

I would bring this up next to the HR department or who ever has the authority to do something around this. This has to be address as the entire documented system is being compromised due to inconsistency. And as you probably know, it's a set-up (or becoming one).

Remember, you did nothing wrong. You followed what's documented, even if it's outdated.

Documented processes fall short for 3 reasons - The written procedures don't exist, they are not clear and defined, or they be not followed.

Don't let this turn. Get them changed to prevent further confusion. And if no one does anything, a modern job may be contained by order.

Best of Luck.
what r SOPs
First and foremost is that the solitary person you should be concerned around is your supervisor. No one else. So common surrounded by the administrative world are how those who can't stand their job and/or grain powerless in their position, use 'false' power on the rest of us. Which is what I own a feeling this being whom you described, is doing. Secondly, I would keep transcription of any 'rules' you hear from others, that contradict what your supervisor tells you. Then, possibly once a week, let the supe know what have been said and who said it. Don't look at it as squealing, because administrative job lie heavily on 'upward' communication.
SOPs are tricky. At best they are nearby only as a guideline. At the bring to a close of the day, the headship falls back into the organized little paradigms such as " Whatever you do, dont lose a customer." Do everything in your power to accomodate".
When you are within over your head, such as an irate customer, you must lose the power position. Many SOPs label you feel approaching you are in charge. No you are not. SOPs however, can singular get overridden by the big individuals in your work place. They must produce that call, not you.
One morning, with adequate experience , you will get into those positions. But for very soon, recognize when to throw the globe to your superiors court.Diffusing the anger of the customer, resorting to a higher power, discussions..etc. Its all partnership.

Are here any totally AMERICAN OWNED gas company??

Question:
I would like to buy my gas from simply a place like that. I hear "Marathon" is American owned, but I would just close to to make sure. Can anyone assistance?

Answer:
If there are, they'd probably be terribly small companies.

Citgo is owned by the Venezuelan government. BP Amoco is unsophisticatedly the British government immediately.

Even the publicly held gas companies that are listed on the New York Stock Exchange are owned by so tons investors that they can be termed American because they enjoy corporate headquarters in America, but they may be owned by individuals surrounded by any number of companies.

And there can't be any gas companies that still take all of their grease from America, as America doesn't produce enough gas to come close to providing satisfactory of a supply. Americans who import from the middle east aren't greatly different from Britons who import from the middle east.

ForeclosureFish

Sorry to break it to you but within is no real corporation i.e. completely American. Welcome to the age of the globalized economy!
Most gas companies are publicly owned, so it would be unlikely that adjectives the stockholders would be American. Marathon Oil is a publicly traded company, though it is based contained by the United States (unlike many others, such as Royal Dutch Shell and BP).
Even if they say aloud they are American owned where do you estimate you are getting your gas from?
Is it better to be screwed by an American than a foreigner?

What are the advantages/disadvantages exposing company financial information to broad member of staff population?

Question:
In the past, most force did not have access to their employer's financial statements via the website within terms of a publicly traded company. Due to SEC's Regulations, publicly traded firms are required to report their financial statements on a quarterly cause. At times, things could be misinterpreted and rumors will begin to surface contained by regards to the organization's financial stability.

Answer:
One defence a company may be reluctant to disclose their earnings is when the company have an employee association. This puts the company at a definite disadvantage if the coalition is aware of the true financial picture during contract negotiations.

The other defence is that most companies are "old school" and don't consider that human resources need to know this information. What they don't realize is that if an member of staff is trained to understand the financial picture and the company shows them how they can contribute to the bottom vein, the employees are more prepared to help the company, especially if the force see where it can benefit them.
If the company is publishing its financial statements beside the SEC, the by definition all the information within them is public. most companies' information is easily available on column because they file their results contained by the EDGAR system (electronic data summit and retrieval system).

SEARS...why are they still allowed to do business contained by CA?

Question:
Is it my imagination, or has the entire corporate world run on what I call the 'DEFAULT SCREW-OVER MODE'?

I progress to get my tires rotated/balanced after buying them fresh 4 months ago. They tell me next to 80% of tire tread left, I requirement NEW tires, and they will not honor what I paid for earlier(rotate/balance).

NEVER be in motion for "our policy is" junk...ask for it surrounded by writing! If they can't supply it, it's just another scam, resembling when SEARS were nearly run out of California several years stern for doing repairs that were a nouns or never done at all.

Needless to enunciate, I am NOT returing to SEARS...

Answer:
Simple answer: TAX REVENUE. No state has revoked a corporations' registration to do business inside their state since the early 70's. Not gonna ensue: too much money for the fat cats and too abundant corporate lobbiests that understand once one corporation is revoked from doing business, prescedent is set and others could follow. The state protects its' powerful interests and senate is the thin sheen of civilization elected every 4 years or so to impart legitimacy to the actions of the state (i.e. nominally to "regulate" the state: yeah, right, that happen sooooo well).
I guess some deal beside the Consumer Affairs office kept them afloat
i am amazed that sear has not cleaned up their work with their auto centers, I'm wondering if the auto centers are a seperately owned entity leasing space from sear, anything is possible any more in the retail world.. i hope you wrote a missive to the california office of consumer protection... i never be in motion to sears, i reccommend Les Schwab. be going to them for 25 yrs. and have never have a bad experience,,they put a bet on everything with no hassle..
