I don't believe these two positions are within the same company.
General Managers are usually the better position. However, this position is common surrounded by Sports teams, Company Operations (also call COO "Chief Operations Officer"), and in Property Management.
Director Generals are also lofty positions, but are less certain because the companies they are found in, tend to be outnumbered by those surrounded by which GM's are more popular. DG's are common within Advertizing, Marketing, Real Estate Project Development, and in Sales.
