It's not against the law, but it may be against company policy. Once you appropriate a job you're expected to know company policy, and if you break it they can properly fire you.

Wal-Mart is not evil. They do some things that would appear despotic to some . . . but in the splendid scheme of things, they are helping our reduction. Check out "The Wal-Mart Effect" by Charles Fishman . . . there's some good stuff within there discussing both sides . . . but one piece that struck me was the story nearly deoderants.
Apparently not too many years ago, respectively deoderant container was package in a cardboard box and afterwards shipped in cases to the stores to be stocked on shelves. In an force to cut prices, Wal-Mart forced the supplier (here's the oppressive part) to stop making the individual cardboard boxes and instead a moment ago send the deoderant containers within a case sized box - this be because consumers just threw the cardboard paper away immediately when they begin using the product. It really served no purpose.
So now, the store clerks would stock the shelves beside just the deoderant containers - eliminate the waste of something approaching 10 million pounds of cardboard a year. Think how many trees be saved because of this simple drive to cut prices. This is why I find it difficult to telephone Wal-Mart evil.
