Credit Questions and Answers

Credit card problem, give a hand please!?

what should i do when a gas station over charged my credit card and i don't have the getting anymore. i just get a $350 charge for gas when it is usually only approaching $30.

Answers: Dispute the charge immediately anyway. Typically there's a time delineate for you to dispute items on your statement.

Hope common sense reigns, as I doubt your saloon can hold $350 worth of gas even at todays prices.
Call the credit card company immediately and explain the situation. Also, folder a police report since the gas station ripped you off. contact the negotiator of the gas station as well.

This happen more than you think. The attendant overcharges and pockets the difference.

If i pay off everything on my credit report will my fico score go up.?

Answers: Not exactly.

If you have bad debts on your report that are older than a year or two paying them off will "renew" them making them appear more recent. In the short term this will hurt your credit score.

You'd be better off to pay off old debts with negotiated "pay for deletes" rather than just payment, ensuring that your credit report is cleared and in turn your FICO score would rise.
I paid off bad debts at negotiated prices when i was purchasing my house, .. the morgage broker had me pay the over the phone, then she did a "rapid rescore" and I was able to qualify for my loan...

so i would say yes.
Mugwug is absolutely correct. Paying those old debts will bring them current and can even LOWER your score.

Best bet is to try and get them removed by disputing them/demanding validation from the creditors. If they can validate the debt under the FDCPA then negotiate a pay to delete agreement.
It will take time, but will go up eventually.

Has anyone intuitively contacted Credit Card companies...?

prior to collection; This is a legitimate cross-examine. Is there a department in the CC company(s) that have the authority, capability (and desire) to offer a concession and
resolution of the outstanding account? I enjoy become disabled; one of the major CC companies that I have Disability Insurance for--immediately sent the account to collection when I sent contained by the claim for Disability payment. I hold 3 accounts, 2 pretty large, would close to to somehow settle but it would have to be for substantially smaller amount than owed. The issues have escalated over the second 3 or so months; the late fees and "over the limit" charges (from delayed fees, etc); have greatly increased the balance. Yes, the phone calls are insufferable; I am afraid to answer my phone, but also know I must address this issue somehow. Please do not forward this to any debt agencies.

Answers: unfortunately, the individual way that I know of to lower the debt is to linger.. and they will send you an contribute. but by then the debt have been forwarded to your credit report already.

The companies by ruling are supposed to work with you, but they simply, as you put it "belittle" you. Keep trying to call them,
name the number on the back of your credit card and ask to speak to someone something like it,and if they don't help ask to speak to someone else, or simply hang up up and call spinal column, eventually someone that is a bit less slighting should answer your questions. I'm sorry I can't abet you more.

best of luck to you!
Every card company is different. When I worked for Macy's Credit Customer Service we had an internal "collection department" that could bar any account up to 180 days ancient due, at which point it was charged past its sell-by date and sent to a collection agency.

Our "collection" department was other supposed to be very friendly to the customer since we still owned the justification and did not want to lose the customer. There were several salary plans offered as well and the agents could negotiate lower interest rates and even settle the debt for smaller amount.

That is how it worked with Macy's, not sure what the other companies hold.
Hello, Elle A. You should keep calling until you are sure that you enjoy reached someone who can abet you at the card company. If you are persistent you will probably find someone who can facilitate you and you can probably arrange workable payments if you can't have an actual running down in your debt.
Collection agents are forbidden by tenet (I think) from harassing debtors. Use the Net and your phone until you find someone to listen to your complaint about belittling.
Be polite but firm. (That is a moral rule for nearly all interpersonal exchanges. Yelling only just makes family defensive and upsets you as resourcefully.)
So... BE PERSISTENT.
USE THE NET AND THE PHONE.
If you feel you are person unfairly treated, you may even want to contact a state or national Rep. or Senator.
Be over-eager. Use the Net... I'm new to it but...what a resource!
The subsequent time you are harassed by a collector recount him or her that you are recording the call upon because you feel intimidated and anxious. Use the term tense.
They will probably calm down.
If you hold a similar debt problem in the adjectives call the company straight! It's easier for everybody.
It is wrong that you are being treated poorly, but, to be disinterested, these aren't charities who can read your mind. Let them know that you are having problems and that you intend to retire your debt. You only need time and probably smaller payments.
I sincerely hope this helps.
Keep laughing.
Keep empire in suspense give or take a few...
