Double dipping...credit report problem, officially recognized?
I have a creditor from going on for 5 years ago who has charged past its sell-by date my debt but then sold my debt to a collection agency, my cross-examine is, is it legal to do that? Now I enjoy a charge off and a collection report on my credit report for the same debt, it doesn't give the impression of being right, is it?Answers: Sorry, but yes it is legal.
The untested lender must show a $0 balance on your portrayal but selling it to a collection company and them also showing on your credit is legal.
Quite legitimate. Both situations occurred. The card issuer settled to charge off your debt, which be not paid. That's the first item. Secondly, they sold your charged rotten debt to a collection agency for pennies on the dollar, with the credit collection firm hoping to construct a profit by collecting more of your debt than they paid for it.
If you do not pay cheque a VALID debt, you can be dinged for that as well. Understand that the card issuer charging sour your balance did not forgive you the debt. It in recent times means that they elected to charge it stale instead of pursuing it. The debt remains valid and collectible.
You can discuss this with the credit report company. You may obligation an attorney to clear this up.
It may not be legal for the guy to do a charge bad and sell the debt to a collection agency.
